Alexei on move to SS, Viciedo...
I was hoping we'd have some more info by now. I really hope we can sign this guy. It'd be a big dissapointment considering all the advantages we seem to have to lose out on him.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) First of all, what the hell are you doing at the gym for that amount of time? What are your workouts consisting of? Extreme cardio. I start out with 200 jumping jacks, followed by about 10 minutes of intense stretching. I then hit up the stair master, stationary bike and some machine called the precor for 35 minutes each. Then I head over to the treadmill for 2 hours and 10 minutes. Then I run stairs and do quite a bit of lap swimming. Add in about 20 minutes of sauna time and you have about 5 hours. I know it's a lot. But I seem to be able to handle it. It's funny, the guy at the front desk says I won't be recognizable in about 2 months if I keep this pace up. I'm not like you, Rex. I'm REAL sensitive right now. If I were to lose let's say 5 pounds in a week only to gain 3 back the next week, I'd go crazy. I'd probably get discouraged and give up. lol. I'm that fragile right now. I've never been over 200 pounds until I started drinking every day. So this is new for me. That's why I ain't doin' no cheat days. I'll feel too guilty. Again, I'm extremely fragile right now. I'm getting by with what I'm eating now. So I'm gonna stick with it at least until maybe Christmas. That would be the earliest I would cheat. Thanks again for your input.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 11:37 PM) More power too ya, haha. Yeah cottage cheese! I think it's pretty much tasteless, and sort of like skim milk the bad taste can go away after a few servings. Try it! I think I'm gonna take your advice. I'll do whatever it takes to get this crap off. Anyway, another 5 hours put in today. I don't know how I'm doing this. I feel really good right now. I just hope it lasts. I'm tempted to take a peak at the scale. But I'll be pissed off if I haven't lost at least 5 pounds.

Swish Traded to the Yankees
QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) I think it was the exact opposite. I remember large numbers of WhiteSox fans and media hating both deals when they happened. In fact, KW took an incredible amount of heat for the BMac deal. And most people thought we could have gotten a MUCH better deal for Freddy at the time. It was indeed the exact opposite. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=56073 lol@willie's initial reaction. And lmao@fathom/tito in this thread. Dudes went crazy.

The Mavs' window is pretty much slammed shut. They had their chances in '06 and '07.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) Please tell me you're exaggerating. That probably working out too much. You risk over-training or burning out working out that much. But it seems like you have found a good diet plan. But if you feel you can work out that much and not have negative effects, then continue. Also, another good snack food is cottage cheese. There are fat free types, but in my experience they taste horrible, so I have like 1% cottage cheese, there is some fat, but it's very small. It's a great snack with lots of protein for helping in those workouts. Not at all. 9-3 on Wednesday. 8:30-1:30 yesterday and today. I'm pretty much obsessed right now. I want to get this s*** off asap. I've got another big time motivation in that I have a HS reunion coming up in May. I want to dominate. Cottage cheese? I'm open to pretty much anything. But yuck!

Soxtalk's Biggest Loser Club
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) Couple things. First, too many calories for me in particular. Second...too much sodium in virtually every soup out there. I get too much salt as it is...you get too much sodium, it forces your body to retain extra water to stay in osmotic equilibrium, and thus you gain weight. Plus all the heart issues. Anywho, the big thing for me is that if I eat until I'm moderately full even 2x per day on an average day, I eat more calories than I burn. It's been like that for me for years, my appetite is bigger than my metabolism. So I typically eat a pretty good dinner, but prior to that I try to control myself wherever I can. Sensible breakfast, small bit of fruit for lunch, when I get hungry in-between, have some tea or wait 30 minutes and then have a piece of fruit. It's pretty much the only system that has worked for me. For reference, about 2.5 years ago I was weighing in at around 210-215. Now I'm weighing in at 165-170. I'm certainly no expert. But I've never in my life heard of soup being bad for you. Especially vegetable soup. You've got a strange metabolism.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) A huge thing for me has been switching out some of the other crap I used to eat for lunch (i.e. soup or sandwich or something like that) for just plain old fruit. Guarantees me a couple fruit servings a day and cuts down on a bunch of the other junk What's wrong with soup and a sandwich? lol. Try out the Progresso soup. It's really good. I eat the veggie with noodle kind. And you can go to Subway for a bunch of low-fat, healthy sandwiches. I took Rex's advice and only roll with whole-grain bread. I throw about 5 slices of thinly cut oven roasted turkey on it. Delicious!

Soxtalk's Biggest Loser Club
It's been a hell of a first week for me so far. I've never eaten so healthy before in my life. I'm on these cookies n cream meal-replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch (I only eat fruit in between the shakes). My dinner basically consists of any combination of tuna, fish, baked chicken, multiple veggies, vegetable soup and plenty of salad. I've consumed more water in the last week than any other human being on earth. I've been doing high-intensity cardio every day for a week. I've worked out at Bally's a combined 16 hours in the last 3 days. I'm tired and sore as hell. But I haven't felt this good in a while. I'm sure I've lost 5 pounds or so (atleast I feel like I have). But like I said earlier, I don't plan on checking until New Years day.

Soxtalk's Biggest Loser Club
Thanks a million@Rex. That is exactly the kinda info I was looking for. I'm 25, and never have had a problem with weight until I started drinking. So I don't have a whole lot of knowledge on healthy foods (besides the obvious), what's good, what's not, ect. And this dietdirect.com site looks to be the s***. I'll definitely be ordering some stuff from them in the next few days. Thanks again.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) Skim milk. I don't mind the taste at all, but some do. But skim milk has no fat and gives tons of calcium and protein. Protein is what is needed to help make fat turn into muscle. But even if you are just trying to lose weight, it's great to drink because it helps repair muscles after working out and allows you to recover faster. I can do skim milk. Is there an ideal number of glasses you're supposed to drink a day? Is it good with cereal? I had planned on drinking the low fat 2% milk. But if skim will help me achieve my goal faster, I'm all for it.

Details of the Peavy trade negotiations...
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Nov 8, 2008 -> 11:13 PM) Do the Scrubs even have the bullets it would take to really land Peavy?? I don't see how. Not even close. But somehow they're the favorites in landing him.

Soxtalk's Biggest Loser Club
I'm in this damn club now. I started working out yesterday. I went walking for about 90 minutes. Then I went to L.A. fitness for about two hours. Not bad for the first day. My goal is to lose 50 pounds. I don't plan on checking my weight every week. Especially during the holiday season. I don't want to get discouraged if I have a bad week every now and then. I don't plan on checking until the first of the year. But I will post my daily progress. Question for Rex or anybody in the club, what do your diets consist of? Obviously I'm cutting out the fastfoods, fried foods, pastas, beer, ect. I've decided to cut out meats for a while. I'm sticking to chicken (except fried), tuna, turkey, fish, samon. I'm gonna load up on salad, fruits and veggies. I'm done with soda and chocolate milk. Just gonna stick with water and powerade. Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

Sox organizational outlook from MiLB.com
Very good article. I was surprised. We obviously don't have any elite studs at the moment. But some very interesting guys to keep an eye on (not including the obvious guys like Beckham, Danks and Poreda).

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 8, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) Don't look now but our potential platoon second basemen went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and five RBI for Obregon of the MPL on Friday Also, Nix has homered in three of his last four games and is now batting .295/.362/.526 in 95 at-bats. I'm liking this move more and more. These are the type of signings where Kenny really shines. Highly regarded players at one point that have fallen on hard times. I can't wait until spring training. Nix is one guy we should all monitor very closely.

Details of the Peavy trade negotiations...
I agree it'll be highway robbery if they're able to land Peavy for that boatload of garbage they're serving up. But does anybody think Peavy really makes them a better team? I mean think about it. Instead of 97 maybe they win 98 games next year? And that's assuming they get the same exact years they got from guys like Dempster, Derosa and Soto. Certainly not a guarantee, especially Dempster. They still lack a CF and RF. Their 57527023705473 billion dollar LF is regressing every year. They've still got no left-handed hitters worth a damn. Their bullpen is suspect. And they might lose Wood. Now that I think about it, even with Peavy, they'll more than likely be worse next year.

Sox interested in Cuban 3rd Sacker
Haven't even heard of this guy until today. I've read the article and other scouting reports on him. I've peeped all of Cubano's, or however you spell his name, posts regarding this guy. All I can say is sign me up. Even if this kid can't step in right away, he's more than worth signing. The upside appears to be tremendous.

Mets & White Sox Have Been Talking...
QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Nov 8, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) I have to agree. I love Bobby as much as the next guy, but if trading him can net you a monster package or an elite player, it makes too much sense to not trade him. Nobody knows this more than KW. Anybody that thinks he'll let a closer the caliber of Bobby go on the cheap hasn't been paying attention the last 5 years or so.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 8, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) Thabo is terrible...Cavs made that big run in the 4th when he was out there making dumb decision after dumb decision. Does he have more fouls than points this season? That 2006 draft that so many were high on is developing into an absolute piece of cow dung.

Farm system shakeup?
I like it. It's been very clear for over a year now that the organization is no longer messing around when it comes to drafting/developing. Are we where we need to be yet? No. Still a ways to go. But even Tizzle can admit we're in better shape now than we were a year ago.

2008 vs. 2000
Frank Thomas alone makes 2000 better for me. That was that season that put a big fat exclamation point on a HOF career for me. Many thought he was done before that year. He was obviously the real MVP.
