  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) I just think your anger (for lack of a better term) is misdirected. The Cardinals didn't break any rules to get in, they just won a bad division. The 2004 Sox didn't get in with the same record, but that's not StL's fault either. The Sox have no one to blame but themselves for their failure to qualify, but that takes nothing away from what the Cardinals did. One thing has nothing to do with the other. And bear in mind that in the postseason the Cardinals beat the best team in the NL record-wise and the team that was the best in the AL for most of the season, so I think that deserves some respect as well. It sure did help that the Mets lost half their starting rotation. And you can only go so far with the injury card. I'm sure every team could tack on 5-10 more wins if every single one of their players were healthy the whole year. The Cards won a horrible division in a horrible league. Do they have to apologize for it? Of course not. But I don't see what's wrong in recognizing that they were FAR from a great team this year.
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 28, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) Red Sox #1... Not a biased fan result there. Atleast most agree on who #20 should be.
  3. Brian would never make such a boneheaded move. As for Pods, I think Balta said it best: His Sorry ass wouldn't even have been in the damn picture to even f*** the play up.
  4. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Oct 28, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) They are certainly the worst team in recent memory to win a World Series, but I see no reason for MLB to be embarrassed. Frankly, I prefer it this way. Remember all the talk about the lack of parity in the league when the big payroll teams like the Yankees were winning championships every year? I'm glad that there is the potential for a major surprise every season. I'm glad that more teams (yes, even the "not-so-great" teams) have a chance to win it all. And I like the idea that its open season for any team that is fortunate to make the playoffs. There is nothing wrong with sliding into the playoffs and rising to the occasion when it counts the most. I agree with everything here. I just can't get over it. This is the main reason I haven't posted as much the last 6 weeks or so. I have no doubt in my mind that we win it all again if we had simply gotten in. I totally disagree with the bolded part. The NL flat sucked. No debating that. But the AL was insanely strong this year. Look no further than the White Sox. A team that won 90 games and finished in third place. I think teams like the Angels and Blue Jays would've won 95+ games or so in the NL. The AL was VERY good this year. The Tigers should be ashamed of themselves for getting handled by such an average team. I agree with this. It's no doubt good for baseball.
  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) A lot of you seem to be harping on their regular season record. Remember all the injuries this team suffered (Pujols, Mulder, Eckstein, Edmonds, Reyes, etc.) They did a damn good job surviving to get to the playoffs. That's called being in the NL Central. Probably the worst division in baseball. The fact that the Astros had a legitimate shot at winning the division going into the last weekend of the regular season is all that needs to be said. Not trying to hate. The Cards won it and don't have to apologize to anybody. But I challenge anybody to name a worse champion than this.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) There were just certain parts of the movie to me that seemed slow and a bit boring. Like I said though, for the most part it kept me entertained, I just liked the first two much better. Fair enough. I'll talk to you more about it when everybody for the most part has gotten a chance to see it. There is one part about the movie that made absolutely no sense to me.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Saw 3 was very meh to me. Kept me entertained but I liked the first two much better. Hater So what didn't you like about it?
  8. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Was anyone else kinda suprised at the fan reaction in St.Louis right after the win? Kinda seemed a little dull for a K to end the series.... They're probably even in shock that such a horses*** team could win it all. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) I just asked the kid if he wanted to compare last years Sox team to this year Cards team. Then I just owned him with that information. The Sox accomplishments from last year make life easy. Comparing this Cardinal team to last year's White Sox team is like comparing the 1996 Chicago Bulls to the 1999 San Antonio Spurs.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Good for the Cards. It's so exciting being 3 outs away from a World Series win, and im glad that it's not Tiger fans that get to expierence it. Same here. I never understood the "Well, it looks better for the Sox if the Tigers win it" theory. Forget all that. Although they'll easily be the worst World Series champion I've seen in my 16 years of being a baseball fan -- go Cards!
  10. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) well I know what happens in the first 2. Well, you can click the link Steff posted on page 119 of this thread. That's a pretty good review. I'm not gonna give anything away about the movie until those that I know are interested have seen it. You can PM me if you want. I'll tell you what you wanna know. You should go see it for yourself, though. I promise you will not be dissapointed. QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) yeah, i'm sure its hard to understand the plot of "cool ways to kill people" Well, if you know anything about it, you would know it's about a lot more than just "cool ways to kill people."
  11. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) can I get a synopsis? I'll never watch these films, so i'd love a review of the third one. No way in hell you could really understand the third one without seeing the first 2.
  12. Just got back from Saw 3. I'm num right now. The movie is utterly amazing. Any questions you might've had about Saw and Saw 2 are answered during this film. And like the review that Steff posted earlier said, that's it. This is the end for me. There better not be a Saw 4. It would be totally pointless. Oh, and this movie is not for those with weak stomachs. So watch at your own risk. It's much more graphic than the first 2 IMO. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) I bet that Saw puppet dude would be a good Halloween costume, hmmmmmmm need a big, squeaky tricycle though. Might go see "Running with Scissors" tonight. That was my costume last year. It'll probably be my costume this year, too.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) http://www.joblo.com/arrow/reviews.php?id=1129 Brian, good review of Saw3 there. I just got some serious wood from reading the review. Thanks Steff. I've been obsessed with Saw ever since I saw the trailer for the original during the summer of '04. I've even got the Puppet. I know, I've got problems.
  14. This has got to be some kinda record for most games pushed back because of rain for one post-season.
  15. I can't believe it's been one full year since the greatest sports moment of my life. Thank you 2005 Chicago White Sox!
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) I understand the F part, but I have a hard time givng an F to the whole team. Dye-Thome-Kong-Crede-Bobby-MacD-Thornton are farrr from getting anywhere close to an F. You're right. I'm just extremely pissed off and bitter that we didn't atleast get in.
  17. I don't care about individual grades. The team as a whole gets a big fat F.
  18. Happy birthday@my man Soxace. You're a real good poster. Hope you have a good one.
  19. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!! GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!! For the following reasons. 1. They silenced the Eastern Seaboard Promotion Network by laying the smacketh downeth on the Spankees and for that I owe them a debt of gratitude. 2. The only ex-sox player I despise more than f**glio is the big skirt. Lets see if Skirt complains about having the sun in his eyes (remember the 2000 playoffs? ) when he gets shut down by Detroits pitching staff. Again..............GO TIGERS!!!! Nuke, help me out here. In rangercal's sig, he's got a Frank Thomas fanclub. IIRC, you're part of that club. What has Frank done to make you hate him so much? And I'll barf if you say it's because of what happened between him and Kenny back in March.
  20. Detroit beating the Yankees frustrates me even more as far as the Sox go. If we had played even .500 baseball the second-half, Detroit wouldn't even be in the playoffs. I have no doubts, even despite all the problems we had, that we could've swept the Yankees. If we just could've f***in' got in.
  21. Damn, guys, give Maggs a break. It was a good video to me.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Make that 3-0. LMAO. I love it. I can't believe I'm cheering for the Tigers. This is a special case, though.
  23. Maggs with a solo shot. Tigers up 1-0 in the 2nd. LMAO@the Yankee message boards.
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) ARod is batting 8th today. If the Yankees lose, could this be the end of his stay in the Bronx? I really think moving him down like this is showing him up. Its not like all the others are pounding the ball. I agree. No way he's back there next year if they lose today or Sunday. 8th? LOL. What the hell is that supposed to accomplish?
