Possible Back-Up Outfielder?
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 19, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I would love to have Miguel Cabrera as a back up OF. I take it Early 90's Griffey Jr. is in Center and the Rickey Hernderson from the 80's is in left? I'm assuming (actually praying) he meant Melky.

Ross Gload Traded For Andrew Sisco
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) One that I must say I'm not a big fan of. Could just be because I love Gload's game so much and think he was a perfect PH off the bench late in games. Unfortunately we already ahve two with Mack and Cintron. It's also too bad that he really doesnt' have a position except first and we are all filled up there. I really expect him to have some big base hits against us this year. On the other hand, hopefully Sisco is another Thornton. He has been some kinda awful the last two years. He was very good in 2005.

Die Hard 4 teaser
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) Man, I loved that movie when I was a kid. Probably ought to see it again just to see if its any good now. "You got the touch, you got the power, yeah! (insert 80's guitar)" I cried when Prime died. Megatron was a f***in' cheater.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) If Buerhle goes to St. Louis or wherever else. I actually wouldn't be surprised if KW made a pitch to try to get him back next offseason. And why not?!? He's a proven winner. Freddy is gonna command 12-15 million when he becomes a free agent. He's not coming back to the White Sox.

Houston not the only team after Garland
QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) Rosenthal from fox sports said that the rangers are looking to trade for young pitching. They must not be too impressed with thier own prospects. Maybe that's one deal we should not consider. Or maybe the Rangers realize after 364236364 years that they'll never win jack with the horses*** that has been their pitching staff the last 10 years or so?

Houston not the only team after Garland
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) I'm just not sure what it is you are trying to get at though. If the order they are in is trying to describe value or quality, then I'm gonna have to go ahead and pretty much wholeheartedly not only disagree, but suggest it's completely wrong. RJ isn't anywhere near that level anymore, and Tim Wakefield is not one of the top 20 pitchers in baseball. I doubt that's what it is though, but I'm just confused. That's also a span of 6 years...pitchers change pretty quickly. A smaller timeframe...say 3-4 years...would be much better to look at, though K/BB, which is really what you're getting at, is only one indicator of success. GO/AO, HR/9, WHIP, OPSa...you kinda need a lot to evaluate, even beyond ERA. Hell, throw QS's and QS% in there too. Javy's got great stuff, and great peripherals, but neither means he's necessarily going to be a good pitcher. Wite, help me out, what the hell does that mean? lol. I hear this all the time and still can't figure out what it means.

Houston not the only team after Garland
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) Not in this situation. Vazquez is not a winner. He's nothing more than mediocre at best. Personally, I've never seen anybody like Vazquez. His stuff is sick. I mean really, really, sick. You can't help but drool over him sometimes. The guy will no-hit teams for 4 or 5 innings and make them look stupid while doing it. But, for some reason, he falls apart. Every single damn time. If he can ever figure his s*** out, he'll be a top 5 Cy-young canidate every year. Unfortunately, people have been saying this for about 5 years now. So I'll have to agree with Milk. Javy is supremely talented. But he's not a winning pitcher.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) Whats up with Miami beating New England 21-0 late? Thats up for the shocker of the week. Miami has looked real good since whoopin' our asses a few weeks back. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) Can't tell whose is worse now, Bears or Colts. It's not even close. Colts.

Reinsdorf speaks
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) Funny how Reinsdorf and Williams are now crying poor this off-season after coming off an attendance record in 2006. They're not crying poor. They're just not gonna be stupid and foolish with their resources. I don't blame them. Huh? Weren't you doing the most Frank hating of anybody? lol. And I really do love Mark Buehrle. But I ain't payin' his ass 15 million a year if it was up to me. I can't blame Kenny and Jerry for not wanting to, either. C'mon now, Aboz. You should know better. This is all one big game. Players are gonna do what's best for them. GMs/Owners are gonna do what they think is best for the franchise. Again, there's only two or 3 pitchers in the game that I would pay 13-15 million dollars for. And Freddy, Mark or any current White Sox pitcher ain't one of them No true White Sox fan could hate on Buehrle for doing what's best for him. If some team offers him 15 million a year for 5 years, he would be a fool not to take it. I don't think that was Jerry's intention at all. What the hell did McDowell do after his CY-young season in '93? What will Buehrle do from this point on? You could make a legitimate argument that Mark's best days are behind him. I don't think that's the case. But what we saw from him the last 3 months of last season was pathetic. Was it a fluke? Was he hurt? He says he was perfectly healthy. So that right there makes me wonder.

Sox lock up MacDougal for 3 years
Beautiful contract.
-
Thank you, Freddy
Props to Steve for creating this thread. Say what you want, but the guy won 41 games in his 2 1/2 years (not including his remarkable posteason) with the Sox. He took the ball every 5th day and, for the most part, gave us a chance to win everytime out. Freddy will indeed be missed. Have fun dominating the pathetic crap that is the NL. Edit: Oh, and I'll never forget the game he threw against the Twins in August (I think) of '05. One of the top 3 or 4 pitching performances I've ever seen from a White Sox pitcher.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 02:24 AM) I will vouch for this, as I would have been laughing out loud had it not been a quarter after 2 in the morning. Details, my friend.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
Well, now that I'm liquored up a bit, and have had a chance to fully break this deal down, it's not as bad as I originally thought. I still think we could've done a little better. But Freddy is a FA at the end of next year. We have to remember that. I am estatic to have Gio back, though.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) "Gavin gives us one of the best arms in baseball," said White Sox general manager Ken Williams. "We expect him to compete with Brandon McCarthy for the fifth spot in the starting rotation." Where's the barf emocticon?

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) The White Sox are among a couple of teams this week that have contacted the Orioles about Miguel Tejada. The Angels weren't one of them, according to the report. The Orioles probably aren't trading Tejada, though the Sun speculates they could be interested in package including Jon Garland, Juan Uribe and a top youngster. It's just getting worse and worse.... Enough is enough. I don't want Kenny trading anymore starting pitching. One botch job is all I can take for one offseason.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
Garcia is gonna dominate in the NL. Gavin Floyd in the AL? I don't even have to say anything.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(PhilliesBuff @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) Imagine if McCarthy came to the majors and laid a total egg, went to the minors and laid an egg again. Thats what Floyd felt like to us. LOL. Now we've got Philly fans pouring salt on the wound. I wish I could dispute what you're saying. Problem is you're right. Kenny got raped.
