Our preseason predictions
It almost sounds to me we're getting picked as the favorite by default. Let's be honest, there's not a whole lot of really good teams out there. Even the Yankees and Red Sox aren't getting jocked like they normally do. I still believe most people think we're incapable of repeating. I've heard all off-season how "lucky" we were and that all our players just had "career" years" and that the umpires "saved" us and so on and so forth. I think that will be plenty of motivation for our guys. We have a chance to from a great team to a special team in 06.

Magglio quote
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) I would have been very pissed. But I would have made sure to be at the Cell the first time Paul came back and I would clap. Sorry, but he was a HUGE part of the WS team, and that is something to big to overlook. I dont think im in the minority when saying that, sorry. So basically, if you weren't part of the 05 championship team, you ain't s***?

Magglio quote
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) Not necessarily. Ordonez never even gave the Sox a fair shake. Refused to allow any examinations of his knee until after the arbitration deadline...basically came out and prove he lied when he said he wanted to come back and play for the team earlier that season. He basically made it impossible for the Sox to offer him arbitration and even compete to offer him a contract. And his war of words with Ozzie after he left certainly didn't help. Had Konerko bolted for the Angels, I would probably have been furious with management for letting him go unless the contract the Angels offered him was outrageously large. I mean like Ordonez-large, or bigger than that. If the Sox weren't willing to pony up the contract he got...the front office would be the target of my wrath. I'm not saying Maggs was some perfect little angel that got shafted by the Sox. I'm aware of everything that happened. But to trash the guy and act like he was never s*** is stupid. And I think you're in the minority as far as Konerko goes. If he had bolted, he would be getting killed on this board.

Magglio quote
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) He did? Granted he wasnt the problem, but the Sox were in the playoffs once when Magglio was here. If Frank, or Paul, s***, even a guy like Podsednik left like Maggs did, I would have a hard time holding a grudge just based on what they brought me in 05. Maggs didnt bring us s***. Im sorry for the harsh posts, I really just have a HUGE hatred for Magglio. You would have the same hatred for Konerko if he had bolted for the Angels. And the only thing that stopped that from happening was the Sox going 5 years. And that's bulls*** to hold it against Maggs that the Sox never won a title while he was here.

ESPN NBA trade machine
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) The only thing it does is see if the trade works financially. Allen + Pike for LeBron does work on Realgm My mistake. I forgot Lebron is still on a rookie contract.

ESPN NBA trade machine
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) It has absolutely nothing to do with any of the players ability. Nothing. What's the point then? That trade never gets approved on the Realgm checker. That one is much better.
-
ESPN NBA trade machine
Have you read through the thread? Pargo and Pike for Lebron? And it actually gets approved? Horrible.

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) does any team have a fifth starter anywhere near as good as vazquez? Nope

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) Eh, I was really not a fan of it at all. A few decent seens but it was a let down imo. Rowand, everyone knows you can't handle horror movies. You had to close your eyes during certain scenes from Gremlins.

Report: Bonds retiring after 2006
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) You know, I'm even going to take some issue with that statement. It's never been backed up with the evidence of say, global warming or evolution by natural selection or something like that, but there are repeated reports out there that steroids may also have some significant effects on visual acuity. But, since they're quite illegal, and they have this habit of causing significant amounts of harm, no one's ever going to be able to perform a truly unbiased, double-blind study in a large population to see what each and every effect of each and every steroid is. Hell, even if all they did was strengthen your wrists to the point that they could respond quicker, they'd have an effect on hand-eye coordination...your wrists could catch up faster. Honestly, I don't even know if I agree or disagree with you. But I'm not gonna take away his Pittsburgh days. I feel he was 100% legit at that time. Bonds always had a great eye. It's just from 00 on he had the incredible power to go with it. Of course, I doubt it was natural power.

Will Barry Bonds Surpass Hank Aaron?
He can easily pass Hank if he's able to play in atleast 140 games this year.

Baseball Prospectus: "Prior has shoulder problems"
The Cubs denied it? Now I know it's true.

This is the worst trade checker I've ever seen.

Rotation Order
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Don't you find it odd that the White Sox rotation has this kind of power over your blatter? Not at all. Especially when you consider the disaster our pitching staff was just 2 years ago.

27 Game Plans Sold Out
Where there's my White Sox will. There's always a way. I don't care how many bandwagoners buy up all the tickets. Nobody is keeping me from the park.

Rotation Order
I'd start with Mark, Jose, Jon, Freddy and Javier. Like many have said, you really can't contol the order after the first month. I'm in total agreement with getting Garcia and Vazquez as many starts on the road as possible. Damn, I just got a tinkly feeling when looking at how stacked our rotation is. 2006 will be sweet indeed.

Magglio quote
I'm not one of those guys that says f*** you to whoever when they're not on my team anymore. Maggs was a great, great player for many years here. I'll always apperciate those years. I'm not surprised by his comments. I'm sure guys like Carlos Lee and Jose Valentin feel the same.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) #8 in both polls, nice. I am still amazed this team is the #8 team in America, we just don't look NEARLY that good. What a down year nationwide. It just shows how much parity there is today. However, I'm not gonna argue with #8.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) Are 3 rings somehow taken away from shaq cause without that ball hogging guard he wouldn't have those rings (vice versa too). Kobe wasn't the ballhog then he is now. Kobe singlehandedly cost the Lakers in 2004 with his selfish ballhogging and crazy shot selection. And you could've put any of the top perimiter players with a prime Shaq and they would've won titles. And please don't say what about Shaq and Penny. One, they were together for like 3 years. Two, they had to go up against Hakeem and Jordan.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) I watch almost every game, with every team. Do you watch Wright?? I am amazed at his moves. Yes, I do watch Wright. And his passing prowess is top notch. But you have to admit that you come off as simply a biased Kansas jocker.

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) As someone that's not an Illini or Kansas fan, I'll say that while there have been plenty of other better passing big men to play basketball (A. Sabonis is a prime example), Julian Wright is one of the most dynamic post passers in the past decade in college basketball. I can agree with that. Jimbo said Wright was the best he's ever seen. That's a pretty bold statement. I would have to assume he's either just biased "big surprise there" or he just hasn't watched much college bball outside of Kansas.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) Absolutely not, Aldridge will own the inside. Aldride has to also guard the best post passer I ahve ever seen. You haven't watched much college basketball, have you? Or should I say much college basketball outside of Kansas?

Traces Of An Ace...
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) It isn't crazy at all. Vazquez knows how to throw strikes and K's a lot of batters (1.27 career WHIP, 7.77 career K/9). But he's prone to giving up the long ball so pitching at the Cell won't help him much. I think Vazquez will struggle at home but pitch great on the road and still have a good season overall. Garland depends a lot more on the defense playing behind him than Vazquez. If Garland starts walking more batters than his 2005 rate, he will probably go back to a ~4.50 ERA. Contreras has great stuff. The question is -- will he continue to throw strikes like he did in the second half of last season? If he does, he will have a great season. Hopefully, whatever Coop was able to do with Buehrle, rubs off on Vazquez as far as decreasing his amount of hr's allowed.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) That was the most f***ed up movie I have ever seen in my life. The eyeball scene was bad. Really bad. But overall, the movie was not nearly as gory as originally expected. Honestly, I think Tarantino was masterful in having the first 1/2 hour have absolutely nothing to do with what the movie was supposed to be about. This way, when the actual horror part begins, it kinda hits you like a train. (pun intended) The movie wasn't great but it wasn't bad. The scene with Josh was easily the best scene in the movie. You can almost feel his pain. Hostel was great. I saw it the night it first came out. The eyeball scene got me warm.
