  1. Man, this is a TOUGH one for me. So many outstanding performances from our staff. My top 3 go as this. 1: Buehrle in game two against the Angels. 2: Garland in game three against the Angels 3: Garcia in game 4 against the Astros.
  2. I'm not about to read through this whole thread. So forgive me if this has already been mentioned. But is it me, or is Mcjagger the ugliest motherf***er in the history of mankind?
  3. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) Well this thread's lost a lot of activity, now that there's a Bulls-exclusive thread. The Pacers beat the Pistons last night, making it less possible for the Pistons to match the Bulls or win 70. Yeah, any chance at 70 for the Pistons is all but gone. They just need to focus on winning the East and getting home-court. They're only 2.5 games ahead of the Spurs and Mavs right now.
  4. Those Run n Shoot Oilers teams were somethin to watch back in the day. I'm glad Moon got in.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Very. As far as parody goes, Duke is not a great team if they face the right opponent they could be gone in the sweet 16. People might think I'm crazy for this second team but the two best teams I've seen play this year are UCONN and Florida. I agree. I think Duke is overrated. They've basically got two guys.
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) Most significant trade? Delgado to Mets http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...erry&id=2317018 Very good article.
  7. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Basically, if you are white, there are going to be questions of your athleticism. Not saying its right or wrong, because I've called many GM's boneheads in the past for selecting guys like Curtis Borchardt, Chris Kaman, etc so high. I don't see Adam Morrison being any worse than say Mike Dunleavy, and best case to me would be Glenn Robinson. Yes, I realize how good of an offensive player Robinson has been. But with the right team, I can see Morrison putting up over 18 a game at the pro level, as he has a nice shot from anywhere on the court, mid-range, long-range, finishing drives with contact. He doesn't play much defense, but he can probably outscore his man on most nights at the SF position. As for the top pick in the draft, I look for Tyrus Thomas from LSU, and Al Horford from Florida to make some noise before all is said and done, especially at the draft camp. lmao@the "if you're white" comment. You couldn't be more right, Palehose.
  8. Didn't a lot of people say Hinrich wouldn't translate well to the pro game?
  9. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Never morrison... great in college but i don't think it will translate well into the pros. Especially defensively, he is too slow footed. So you would take Aldridge?
  10. The Knicks get slaughtered again. This time by the lowly Raptors. Morrrison or Aldridge Bulls fans?
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Oh man...I so want Davis back on the Bulls. That would be great. Not really. He would be nothing but a distraction after what happened.
  12. QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) While Kendra's a numb-skulled hot head, this other broad is about as bad... First of all, if you're going to "confront" someone for blowing a stop sign, taking the law into your own hands, expect worse than what she got... Secondly, it figures now that KD's temper was exposed in a high profile spat last month, it's an opportune time to attempt retrobution for Ms. Bessner's own embarassment of having to be seen with coffee stains in Naperville. Your avatar is awesome.
  13. QUOTE(TLAK @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 07:07 AM) I was objecting to Jugg's assertion to another poster that just being around Don Cooper will make Javier Vazquez a better pitcher. "What shocks me about your suggestion is you're not even factoring the impact Cooper is going to have on Vazquez. Just look at what he did for Garland Contra. There's no reason to believe he can't make Vazquez a MUCH better pitcher as well." So, I showed that Contreras had success before Cooper got him and wasn't some failure that got magically turned around. Then I cited 22 guys who didn't fare so well under Coop, which to me is very good reason to question that his aura alone will cure Vazquez's tendency to stink the joint up 10 times a year. I like Coop and think he and Oz did a masterfull job of keep everyone focused and fresh despite the heavy innings. I just don't buy that a guy like Vazquez, who has been the same for 8 years, will suddenly change his stripes just because of a new pitching coach. The goal is to get him back to his 01-03 level. That's an attainable goal.
  14. QUOTE(Adam G @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) That doesnt work after the first few weeks of the season though. Everyone has different off days and schedules. He'll get many more favorable match-ups with us than he would've as a Diamondback. Let's just put it that way.
  15. QUOTE(TLAK @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Contreras was 15-7 with the Yankees, he went 15-7 last year with the World Champion Chicago White Sox. Is this MUCH better? Also, look what a fine job he did with Koch, Colon, Adkins, Walker, Diaz, Ginter, Glover, Grilli, Jackson, Loaiza, Marte, Munoz, Rauch, Sanders, Shoeneweis, Stewart, Takatsu, White, Wright and Wunsch. If Cooper is so freaking great why couldn't he fix these guys? I think there is a stronger corelation between success and a pitcher's health and talent than with his pitching coach. Coop's a good coach but the pitchers throw the ball. Are you honestly comparing the Yankees version of Jose Contreras to last year's version of Jose Contreras? lol. And what the hell is with some of those guys you named? You can't fix what never was. What the hell has Koch done since his last good season in 02? Colon was here one season and won 14 games. Loaiza was a fluke and everybody knew it before the 04 season started. You're gonna blame Coop because Marte could no longer throw strikes or get left handed hitters out anymore? All the other guys you named are scrubs who have never done anything with or away from the Sox. Nobody is implying Cooper can take any scrub and turn him into an all-star. NO pitching coach can do that. But his impact is undeniable.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) As does AJ.................. Agreed. I also think another key is that Javier is not being asked to come in and lead the rotation or be a savior ala NY or Arizona. He's basically our 5th starter. He's gonna be matched up with a lot of other 5th starters. And I can't think of too many 5th or even 4th starters anywhere near as good as Vazquez. If he can keep his hr's down, he'll be fine.
  17. This ho is nuts. I'm glad she's being exposed.
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) I don't know if last year was much improved for Vazquez, although he did have some dominant games. His ERA, record, and innings pitched were very similar to a very over the hill Greg Maddux. He needs to be more consistent, hopefully Cooper can make that happen, although I think people are putting too much stock into what even the best pitching coach can do for a pitcher. I don't think it's any coincidence that so many of our pitchers had career years last year. Coop deserves his due. And it's not like we're talking about a guy that's had little to no success. Don't be surprised if Javier is our best pitcher in 06. I know that's a pretty bold statement. But I think he can be that good.
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) It'll be a slow April and then everyone in the media, Cub fans and 75% of this board will hit the panic button.......and we'll still make the playoffs. I, for one, will never doubt this team again. I'm still embarrased that I acted the way I did during the September slide. I won't make that same mistake again.
  20. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) Personally, I don't think this deal goes through. It might have been brought up, but I doubt it. KW is not crazy enough(not saying that in neither a negative or positive way) to trade his ACE pitcher from down the stretch last year and a very affordable Jermaine Dye who was one of only few RF's to hit over 30HR's last year for Abreu(who's very good) and Floyd. I agree. I think our best bet is to go with the six starters. We were very, and let me emphasize, very fortunate to have our top 4 guys healthy all year.
  21. QUOTE(Gldfinger5 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) Can anybody confirm this? It's all speculation at this point. I'm not really a big fan of this proposed deal.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2315990 What's funny is I can see somebody matching that against the Raptors at some point. They're that bad defensively.
  23. You know, before this season started, I was in belief that the league should just hand the Spurs the Western Conference title and let them wait for a finals opponent. But just how good are the Mavs? I must say, I'm VERY impressed. This isn't like Mavs teams of the past that just ran up and down the court, launching shots with 20 seconds on the shotclock hoping to win games 125-120. They have become one of the deepest, most balanced teams in the league. We know they can still score. They're averaging almost 100 ppg. That places them 7th in the league. They're also 7th in the league in fg% while placing 3rd in fewest turnovers made. That shows they're efficient as well. But take a look at some of their defensive numbers. They're a solid 9th in the league in ppg and defensive fg%. They're also fifth in the league in total rebounds. They go about 10 deep. Dirk is obviously by far and away their best player, and a legitimate MVP canidate. They get very solid pg play out of Jason Terry and Devin Harris. They've got good athletes who can defend on the perimiter. Mainly Josh Howard. They've got two bigs who can clog the lane and block/alter shots in Dampier and Diop. Their bench is deep led by Stackhouse and Van Horn. I think this team is a legitimate contender.
  24. Frank is still my hero.
  25. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) Comcast Sportsnet in Philly has just reported the rumor on Sportsnite of... Bobby A. and Gavin Floyd for Count and Dye. Not sure I like this.
