  1. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) You have to market your superstars. Every league does it. Kobe vs LeBron is a compelling matchup. You can't do that without ignoring the two best TEAMS in the league?
  2. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) I got no problem with that, if you're gonna market a game to the average shmuck it's that one. And when Kobe and Lebron are sittin at home while the Spurs and Pistons are going at it in the finals, those same, as you say, schmuck's, won't be anywhere near a tv. Then people will be wondering why once again the ratings for the finals were so low.
  3. And you wonder why many think the NBA has fallen off over the years? You've got easily the two best teams in the league going at it tonight in the Pistons and Spurs. These teams have the two best records in the league. They played a grueling 7 game final last season. They've won the last 3 championships overall. But guess what all the talk is about from ESPN, ESPN NEWS, Around The Horn, etc, etc? Lebron vs Kobe. :headshake
  4. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) That is somewhat surprising, because I would have thought that the Yanks would have been #1 with the addition of Damon. Unfortunately for the Yankees, pitching is a big part of baseball.
  5. lol@Good Arm. Can't pitch. That pretty much sums it up.
  6. Yeah, I think Lopez is a good sign. Randolph is just taking up space.
  7. You're definitely not alone. I'm can't wait to get this thing started again. Fortunately, I've got the Bears, Bulls and Illini to tide me over until then.
  8. Bulls win their 3rd game in a row. Hinrich and Gordon led the way. Is the I hate Ben Gordon fan club gonna give him any props? He's been playing very well of late.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 04:29 AM) Always with the excuses. :headshake You're confusing me with a Cubs fan.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 04:27 AM) That would be Rucker. My bad. It's almost 5 in the morning over here. lol.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 04:10 AM) Some keys for the Panthers if they want to beat the Bears; Thomas Jones can't get over 100 yards rushing. Jones is kind of like Tiki Barber's importance to the Giants. If you can stop him and the Bears running game, then it puts the Bears in a lot more passing situations. They've got to get another receiver going other than Steve Smith. Smith's going to get his 7-10 catches. That's a given, he's just too good. But last time they played, and he did better than that, it didn't matter. The Panthers need a Drew Carter, a Keary Colbert, a Kris Magnum or Ricky Proehl to stand up and be counted. The Panthers O-Line. Probably the biggest key for them. I think it's actually quite underrated. Gross and Wahle are pro - bowlers, while guys like Mitchell have also done a pretty good job. If the Bears get 5 sacks or over though, I don't like Carolina's chances. That's a pretty good analysis. I would also add that Carolina's two defensive ends in Peppers and Rutgers have to be more of a factor. They did nothing last time we faced them.
  12. The dude looks like a child molester.
  13. I checked the Cube and found nothing. Probably just a scrub to take up some space.
  14. Bengals up 10-0. Kitna is doing a fantastic job. I forgot it was just 2 season's ago that this guy threw 26 td passes.
  15. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Updated 1-8-06 1B: Hinton, Travis 2B: Gonzalez, Angel, SS: Valido, Robert 3B: Schnurstein, Micah C: Rosa, Wally LF: Cook, David CF: Spidale, Mike RF: Sweeney, Ryan SP1: Liotta, Ray SP2: Broadway, Lance SP3: Rodriguez, Ryan SP4: SP5: CP: Wasserman, Ehren No new additions only 2 taken off the board with Haeger looking to be in Charlotte and Honel having the TJ surgery those names were taken off the board Thanks, Tom.
  16. This is the team I wanted to play. I feel we match up much better with the Panthers. However, those who are acting as if this is a guarantee because of what happened in week 11 might be setting themselves up for dissapointment. This is a different Panther team than when we played them. They're running the ball very well at the moment. That's something they weren't doing before. And, anytime you can go on the road and pitch a shut-out in a playoff game, you know you're defense is pretty damn good. I still expect the Bears to win this one at home. But it's not gonna be easy in the least.
  17. I'm shocked that Lovie won it. Not because he didn't deserve it, but because I thought Dungy would be the sentimental pick because of what happened to his son. Congrats, Lovie!
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) No one said pitching isnt needed you just kind of had some kind of crazy idea in your head that if we trade Contreras that our pitching isnt going to be good.... thats why everyone argued with you because what you said had no point to it. No, you're wrong, you need to go back in the thread and you'll see what I said. You chimed in after. I never said trading Contreras for Tejaja would hurt the team. I simply responded to the poster that said that even if the pitching fell off that we could still repeat because we would be able to "outscore" teams. That works in the regular season. But, in the playoffs, unless your pitching is top notch, you ain't winnin a thing.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) Not might be, it is. If you don't have good pitching in the playoffs you are not going to win, it doesn't matter how good your offense is. Rowand, you are my new god. That's all I was trying to say.
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) Can I hold you to that? Yup. I'm not wasting anymore time trying to crack the hard headed.
  21. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) What if Pauly gets hurt? We better bring back the Big Hurt to ride the pine until that happens... I give up.
  22. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) i looked around and could not find this anywhere so i was looking for some help. do the bulls get the knicks no. 1 pick year under any circumstance, or only if it is out of the top three. i seem to recall there being some provisions on the pick that would push it to next year's draft, but i didn't know the facts. thanks in advance. The pick has no restrictions. If the Knicks end up with the #1 pick in the draft, it's ours. And, in 2007, we can switch picks with the Knicks as well. So if they suck ass again and say end up with the 5th pick, and we make the playoffs and end up with the 24th pick, we can switch with them. Isiah Thomas is a f***in moron. lol
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 09:25 AM) Average pitching? Clement was their Ace. We would still have 5 legit starters, if Garland fell off, we would still have Mark, Freddy, BMAC to dominate and Vaz if he improves. Garland was just one example. What if Mark or Freddy get hurt? What if B-mac isn't as good as we think? What if Vaz gives up close to 40 bombs? All I was saying is that no matter who we add on offense, for us to repeat in 2006, the pitching has to be top-flight.
  24. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) But I thought Urlacher was the most overrated player in the league? http://www.sportingnews.com/exclusives/200...3/586318-p.html Here's the article written by that clown in 04. It's even more pathetic when you read it now than it was at the time. This is how you answer idiots like this. Way to go, Brian!
