Bears vs. Redskins 9/11 Game Thread
The Bears need to establish the run early and often to win this one. They've got to take some pressure off Orton. No 3rd and longs, or as few as possible. Oh yeah, not letting Portis go Barry Sanders again would help.

Someone reassure me
I try and stay positive most of the time, but I'm scared to death of what's to come for these guys. Are two best pitchers, you know, "the Cy Young Canidates" have been getting knocked around all over the place the last month or so against elite teams. We had a damn 15 1/2 game lead on August 1st. Now it's down to 6 1/2 with 6 games to go against a RED HOT Indian team. Instead of cruising into the playoffs, we're gonna have to fight like hell. We shall see.

I guess losing in 3 or 4 in the first round is acceptable to some people. They can always say "atleast we got there." That's not good enough for me. This team broke my heart in 93. We didn't even get a chance in 94. Another pathetic showing in 2000. I admit, saying I hope we miss the playoffs is a little steep, but I can't take another 3 and out first round showing this time around. And that's exactly what we're headed for.

Mark Buehrle
I haven't read this whole thread. But if an ace is somebody who can shut down the piss poor line-ups while getting rocked by any above average line-up, then yes, Buehrle is one heck of an ace.
-
Buehrle's chances at 20 are done
Jeckle is right. Buehrle and Garland have both choked on big fat ones. This is a playoff like series. And what have our two best pitchers done? I have no faith in either of these guys come playoffs. And that's if we make it. If the Indians win tonight, they're 6 1'2 games out with 6 games still to play against us. These next few weeks might get very ugly.

I hate to say this, but i'm hoping we don't even make the playoffs. This team ain't ready for primetime. It's gonna be 83, 93, and 00 all over again.

Sayonara Sammy?
Roastin Sammy isn't as fun as it used to be since he's no longer a Flub.

Will Buerhle fix himself before October?
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) Guys take a step back from the ledge. Buehrle is still an ace and he is still one of the best in the game. He had a bad outing however he shut down a good tiger lineup on saturday. Also i think that balk call got to him. They weren't hitting him hard either. No, an ace doesn't get rocked everytime he's matched up with an elite team. Mark is an excellent pitcher. I love the guy. But there's no making light of his failed performances against the elite teams this season.

Jenks settling into his role
What a performance by Bobby tonight. So f***in clutch. I wish we had more like him.

Will Buerhle fix himself before October?
Assuming we make the playoffs, no way in hell I start Buehrle in game one. He'll put us in a 1-0 hole quicker than you can say Steve Bartman. I'd go Garland, Buehrle, Garcia.

This game is so huge. We need Jon to step up like never before.
-
Buehrle's chances at 20 are done
You couldn't pay me to vote Buehrle for cy-young. He's crapped his pants against every elite team he's faced. He even looks dumber for the "the Rangers are stealing signs" comment then he did before.

Oakland vs Pats
All I know is Kerry Collins got me 21 points today in fantasy.

Ozuna or Crede?
If Crede's healthy, he's our guy.

Hogs Season Over
Liotta got owned. Trade that f*** face.

Oakland vs Pats
Pats are pulling away now. 30-14. These guys are so amazing.

well it happened
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) Based on what? Their 3-10 record against us? Jose Contreras owning their team? (Look at his career stats) Mark Buehrle nearly throwing a perfect game against them? They are a team built on offense that can easily be shutdown by great pitching. They have a great bullpen, and their starting pitching, but their offense can be, and has been shutdown by pitchers like Buehrle, Garland, Garica, and Contreras. f*** the Indians, but I hope we play them in the ALCS. Our offense just got shut down by J.P. Howell. Don't get me wrong. I feel we're a better team than the Indians, but it's not by nearly as much as some are making it out to be.
-
well it happened
I wouldn't make too much of our regular season record against the Indians. For one, they've been a totally different team since we last played them. Two, once the playoffs start, the regular season records mean jack s***. We were 8-4 against the Mariners in 2000, we all know what happened there.
-
well it happened
And by the way, for those who don't know, we wouldn't see the Indians, assuming both teams win their first round series, until the alcs anyway.
-
well it happened
I'll worry about who I'd rather see in the playoffs when we officially clinch the central.

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
We better wax this Howell guy tonight.

Any Sox Gold Glovers?
In a perfect world, Rowand, Crede, and maybe Uribe would get one. But, of course, this world is incredibly flawed. They'll go to more "well known" players that probably aren't as deserving.

Could we be watching the best Sox pitching staff?
The only staff comparable in my time as a Sox fan is 1993. Jack Mcdowell: 22-10, 3.37 era, 10 cg's. Alex Fernandez: 18-9, 3.13 era. Wilson Alvarez: 15-8, 2.95 era. Jason Bere: 12-2, 3.47 era. Tim Belcher: 12-11, 4.44 era. That was a damn good rotation. I recall Alvarez and Bere simply dominating down the stretch that year. Too bad we ran into one of the all-time great offenses in the Blue Jays in the playoffs.

WS Nightmare
You know what's funny? Coming into the season, if you asked me who are two best relievers were gonna be, I would've said Marte and Vizcaino. Thank god for Cotts, Politte and Hermanson.
