AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
It's nice to see the pitching can have an off day and we can still win on the road against a pretty good team in the Blue Jays.

Anybody starting to worry about Konerko?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 7, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Washington was also inexperienced. True, but somebody had to win, and they were better than us.- Sox @ Poo Jays (5/7 @ 12:07 p.m. CT | TV: WGN)
Garland has to dominate to keep up with Dontrell. lol...I'm glad this is an early game. I can actually watch the whole thing before having to go to work.- AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

I voted for El Duque. He's been great so far. He's givin us 5 capable starters for the first time in years. That's HUGE in my book.- Nash wins MVP
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 7, 2005 -> 04:11 AM) It was really a toss up at the time. You could easily make a case for both of them. Only thing that jordan did much better then was score points and you have to remember in that two year time span jordan shot over 1,500 more shots. You give him all those extra touches per game and he would be in jordan's range. I am sure magic's versatility played into this considering like i said he could play all five positions and do so well. Well Michael was a sg, not a pg, his strength was scoring. And Magic couldn't score like Michael if his life depended on it. Not to mention the fact Michael Blows Magic out of the water defensively. I'm not disputing Magic's mvp years, but you could've easily made a case for Jordan, that's all i'm saying.- Bulls @ wizards.
This series proved once again that young, inexperienced teams go nowhere in the post-season. I can't even count all the mental mistakes from this series. But this is a good learning experience for these guys. Michael, Scottie, and the rest of the boys had to go through this. I'm not saying this is a potential dynasty in the making, but this team has a damn good chance of being really good for a while. We've got to get Chandler, Curry, and Duhon all signed. I don't know what Paxson is gonna do free agent wise. I personally hope he looks at adding a big 2-guard. Somebody who can guard the bigger sg's. Hinrich shouldn't have to guard those guys all the time. This was most definitely a fun season. For the first time since the Jordan years i'm looking forward to next season.- Nash wins MVP
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) The thing is jordan was not the best player in the league when johnson won his mvps. No matter how much of a homer someone is jordan should not have won mvp's those years. Johnson was nearly averaging triple doubles while being able to play all five positions and play them well. He was also a top notch lock down defender to boot. Magic won the mvp in 1987, 1989, and 1990. I Agree that Jordan shouldn't have won the mvp in 87. The Bulls only won 40 games. But don't even pretend that MJ wasn't mvp worthy in 89 and 90. 1989 stats and awards= 32.5 ppg, 8 rpg, 8 apg, 2.89 steals, .538 fg%, 85% ft%, all nba first team, all defensive first team. The ONLY thing that kept Michael from winning it that year was the fact the Bulls only won 47 games. Which was not a bad total considering Grant and Pippen were still young and dumb at the time. 1990 stats and awards= 33.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 6.3 apg. 2.77 spg "led the league" .526 fg%, 84.8 ft%, all nba first team, all defensive first team. I honestly thought Charles Barkley should've won the mvp that season. He led a team with Hersey fricken Hawkins and total crap to 53 wins.- Nash wins MVP
Mvp needs to seriously be defined. It was easy in the 90's. Jordan was the best player, on the best team, that won the title every year. I've disagreed with every mvp since 2001. In 01 I thought Shaq should've won it. In 02 I thought Kidd should've won it. In 03 I thought Kg should've won it. Last year I thought Duncan should've gotten it. This year my pick was Shaq. Congrats to Nash, though.- NBA All-Rookie Teams announced
I don't agree with Duhon not making the second team. What the hell did Jameer Nelson do?- The Feelings
LMAO. I leave for like 5 minutes and the post total for this thread goes from 37 to 79?- 5/5 Games
Who's this Haeger guy? Seems like everytime I check he's put up an impressive stat line.- The Feelings
QUOTE(rangercal @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) No, its not. At the right price he can be had. Do you really think we don't have enough to offer? I hope you're not suggesting B-mac? It would most definitely take him to get a player the caliber of Chavez.- Keys to Contreras' success
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) Not according to this year's stats... MLB Team Stats: 2005 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggreg...t=0&season=2005 The Indians are ranked last (30th) in team AVG (.227) and 29th in team OBP (.293). Good god! What's going on over there? Their offense was killing people last year. It can't just be not having Omar and Lawton.- The Feelings
QUOTE(rangercal @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) I thought the same with mulder and hudson. he can be had. Givin up on Crede already?- Keys to Contreras' success
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Yeah but this year the Cleveland offense has been pretty crappy....... I guess thats what happens when you lose your leadoff men in Lawton and Vizquel. Their offense is still pretty potent.- The Feelings
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) Obviously Cincy pays some of the salary. I think JR will be willing to open up the check book this all star break if Kenny can convince him he is the missing piece. The more I think about it, the more I love the idea of Griffey at the deadline. I know too early...chances he will be on the DL by the time AS break rolls around, but if he can stay healthy, that would be one huge stick in our line up. Again, the key is Cincy has to pay a chunk of his salary to get him off their book. Right now Griffey is only batting at 0.250 and has 2 HRs and 10 RBIs, but I think he should pick it up once the weather gets warmer. This line up would be awesome for the playoffs IMHO Pods LF Guch 2B Frank DH Griffey CF Kong 1B Carl/Dye RF (depending on match ups etc) Uribe SS AJ Pierz C Crede 3B Let me go change my shorts now What the hell happened to Aaron Rowand?- Keys to Contreras' success
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Contreras' best starts for the Sox were arguably the two games he pitched against the Indians last season when they had the #1 ranked offense in the MLB. He's also pitched well against them twice this season.- Keys to Contreras' success
Aside from the Royals, Jose has racked up 3 other quality starts so far. So he's been getting the job done against everybody for the most part.- Official NBA Playoffs Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Houston sends it to game 7. I've never seen such a close game turn into a blow-out in a matter of minutes. It was 82-80 Rockets with like 10 minutes to go. Then all of a sudden the Rockets are up 20 with like 2 minutes to go. T-mac was indeed godly. Now lets see can he finally step up and get his team past round one.- AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 5, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) How many times in the past few years have we seen the Twins pull bulls*** wins otta their ass? I'LL TAKE EVERY WIN, NO MATTER HOW IT COMES. I'm ready for the East coast teams. Tired of the Central.- AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 5, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) But we do have two pitchers who could very well be hurt when we need them. Hopefully, we preserve them until we need them. Two? I know El duque is injury prone. Who else are you talking about?- AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 5, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) The use of "/" means an "or". Which means if we get the improvement we do not need to upgrade. Frank will be a great upgrade, no doubt there. My mistake. I see what you meant now. - Bulls @ wizards.
