  1. Team looks dead again. All star break killed the momentum.
  2. I would think he may end up signing a low-end deal that gets him playing for a team through 2023. He's going to want a chance to rebuild his value. He may or may not play in 2022, but he could use 2023 as a show-me season and hope for a payday starting in 2024.
  3. On a hot dog? No. Oddly, though, I've had sandwiches with fries on them and enjoyed them.
  4. Ketchup on a hot dog just reminds me of being a kid. That's the only way I'd eat them. Now, it's mustard and onions. I've had a true Chicago dog a few times, and it's okay. To me, it's too much. Now I kind of want a hot dog.
  5. Right. Technically, whoever he plays for when he becomes a free agent will have the first shot, but he's going to test free agency. Unless he ends up with the Yankees or Dodgers and they offer him an insane amount of money to extend...which could happen. If he, by some miracle, ends up with the Sox, they will not have a chance at signing him.
  6. I think this is the key argument here. Adding Soto really improves the team for the next couple years, especially if you hold on to Vaughn. The Sox have the pieces, but how big of a package would the Sox be willing to offer?
  7. I think that's giving up too much to also take on the salary of Corbin.
  8. But...but...the Sox were convinced their offer was good enough for Machado! KW was so shocked he had to do an interview in sunglasses.
  9. Trading for him and seeing him go elsewhere after 2024 is MUCH more likely than trading for him and extending him...obviously. The cost for just the 2.5 years of control will be very high. The Sox have the players to do it since it wouldn't be all prospects. One or two (good) major league players would be the cornerstone. Like Vaughn and Crochet, or Kopech and Moncada, or Leury and Zavala ?. I saw someone post why not just make a huge splash and go after Judge in the off season. Love the idea, but there's no way the Sox offer enough. Just like they'd have no hope of extending Soto. Still, 2.5 seasons of Soto would be huge for this team.
  10. With only four episodes left, I imagine we'll see the Saul we knew from Breaking Bad from this point forward. Plus maybe some flash forwards to Gene the Cinnabon guy.
  11. Another great episode of Better Call Saul this week.
  12. That's possible. But, yeah, as you said, he should have been picked as part of the original pitching group.
  13. The sports guy on ABC 7 yesterday said Cease would have been an all star except he was ineligible since he pitched Sunday. This, of course, is incorrect. Not sure why he would say that. He should have still been named as an all star and given the chance to experience it. He is the only pitcher since 1901 to have these 1st half stats: - 150+ Ks - 12.5+ K/9 - Less than 2.20 ERA - Less than .200 BAA
  14. I think the lightheadedness could be an excuse for benching him. Figures TLR would finally hold someone accountable in the 2nd inning of a very important game.
  15. Take the bat off your fucking shoulder.
  16. Johnny Cueto is easily one of the best pick-ups by the Sox in recent years. He's a damn bulldog that goes out and pitches his ass off every time and has given the team a chance in every start. It's not just his funky delivery that is making him successful. He's a good pitcher that still has great stuff. Luis Robert decided it was time to be the hitter we all knew he could be. That grand slam nearly put a hole in someone in the left field stands. And did anyone notice the fun the guys were having in the dugout? Seems like winning may be the key to boosting morale. Hmmm.
  17. That ball hit in the second deck on a freaking line. Holy shit he killed it.
  18. There’s been some sloppy, lazy defense today.
  19. Jose always starts slow and comes to life as the season goes along. This year's improvement was quite dramatic, though. Maybe because his slow start was especially slow. But he really turned it on over the last month or so. On 5/24, he was batting .225 On 6/7, he was batting .260 On 6/29, he was batting .284 Today he's batting .299 His power numbers are down, but so is everyone else's on the team. He's on pace for about 19 HRs and 75 RBIs vs. 30 HRs and 117 RBIs last year (considering about the same plate appearances).
  20. This feels like nearing the end of a season where the Sox are out of it and have been for a while with a winner thread having only three posts. Giolito looked very good again. It's nice to see him pitching well. That's the kind of performance the team needs with the offense still...well, playing poorly. Lopez has been so damn good out of the pen this year. It's good to see him find his spot, and it's a valuable one. And finally, the Graveman/Hendriks 8th and 9th was textbook. Good win. A much needed win. Now they need to go take 3 of 4 from the Twins.
  21. Comes across as lazy. No one truly knows how each player prepares. He has a ton of talent, and he’s not reaching it. I just don’t think he commits himself like he needs to.
  22. Steve Stone has talked multiple times about players that prepare and get to the park early and condition themselves (Abreu). Eloy comes across as a lazy player that doesn’t take the time to prepare himself and keep himself healthy.
  23. Eloy hurt himself…running. *insert eyeroll emoji here*
