  1. death toll up to 6, including the shooter.
  2. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) I don't count for a few reasons. 1. Caucuses 2. "Only" 10 Electoral Votes 3. My precinct went 74%-26% Obama. in my book the individual matters even MORE in a caucus.
  3. god this is all just ridiculous. what is wrong with the world? ... i'm at loyola and its so bizarre - so many people here have friends there
  4. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) Because it's a "Republican" (which is bulls*** anyway...) from a Northeast state... "MAJOR"!!!!! Um, ok. Edwards is going to hook up with Clinton, but you've already said that. As close as the race is, he gets to be kingmaker anyway. thats really what's so funny about this race. Edwards STILL gets to pretty much call it. All that's left to decide is whether he wants to do that or not.
  5. fine. it's chafee. you win. i just wouldn't really consider this a "major national" endorsement either. i mean... since when is Rhode Island major? or national?
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 10:07 AM) Former Republican Senator Lincoln Chafee from Rhode Island. Will only have some impact in the upcoming Rhode Island primary. I wouldn't categorize this as major. it said "major national" endorsement. i dont think that's it. but maybe.
  7. lol the story got removed from The Page... maybe not quite yet... lol
  8. Major endorsement to be announced by Obama at 11am. interesting...
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 07:36 AM) They had an interesting demonstration on CNN last night. Basically they took an interactive map that figured out delegates awarded based on each states rules for award delegates. They used the map and played out a bunch of different scenarios, and basically it is almost impossible for either candidate to win the nomination outright before the convention without either a huge swing in superdelegates, or Edwards pledging his delegates to someone who wins almost all of the remaining at about a 60-40 ratio. In other words, this is going to drag out with no winner in sight. party unity? overrated i say.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) Btw, for those who say that Obama never talks about policy...he gave a long economic policy speech today. ... so we're going with the better late than never idea?
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) I think an endoresement in this case is too late. He really needed to endorse before Super Tuesday if he wanted to have any effect on the race. that may very well be true.
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 12:04 PM) F*CK you, John Kerry. That is just f***ing stupid. Yea, we all sit around at night and do nothing but b**** about "George W Bush". And then you all wonder why I hate these f***ers. Like we need that rhetoric right now. That's why you're not in the White House, you asshole. how is that different than Mitt saying a vote for a dem is a vote for surrender to terrorism? you say things to your base that you know they'll agree with, however asinine it may be. no reason to get all riled up about it...
  13. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) Right on. i second.
  14. yeah i'm bored by this.... i'll just read whatever summary comes of this.
  15. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) I'm a stat nut. I like having having extra stat categories, but that's just me. If y'all think it'd be better without extra stats it'd be ok. I was in a league a couple of years ago that had I think 28 different stats. Even I thought that was too much.There were lots of categories especially in pitching that enabled the guys who didn't stay active to benefit from not having full lineups. That sucked. However, I like having doubles and triples and (hitters) BBs. Guys like Swisher and Dunn are so much more valuable because of the BBs. Last year, in a league that counted triples, I had the good fortune to have Granderson. Either way, do what you think is best, Commish. i like adding either walks or OPS. just one though - i like 6x6 w/ either k/9 or hld or something like that thrown in. Edit: oh and I'm in. bet ya can't guess which one's me!
  16. i'm just honored to have received one vote at all. and it actually wasn't even from me. methinks i have a secret admirer.
  17. QUOTE(AngelasDaddy0427 @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) Hillary on CNN just said that she'll raise the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour... Lord no wonder the uneducated flock to her. What a pipe dream. That would cripple the economy and she knows it (unless of course she's a stupid as the people she counts on voting for her.) proof that if Edwards endorses it'll be for Hillary. That's straight out of Edwards' policy book. That EXACT amount. Combine that with her healthcare, her adopting his rhetoric, and her vowing to fight for the poor? It only makes sense.
  18. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 09:10 AM) Holy s***! She has man-arms. mmm yeah. just the way i like it. don't you??
  19. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 01:13 PM) a hundred thousand college graduation parties in May just got lamer.... ... i'm pissed. lol damn. so uh... what if i force my parents to not claim me as a dependent? eh? eh? think they'd go for it?
  20. i stopped listening after that first question. "deep down in your deepest darkest thoughts at night blah blah blah" shut the hell up Katie! What did she THINK Clinton was going to say? "yes i think about losing all the time. yes i worry about him beating me cuz he's doing so well. why don't i just go ahead and endorse the guy right now?"
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 12:24 PM) That's a pretty accurate assessment of endorsements. careful, we just agreed on something.
  22. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 12, 2008 -> 10:04 AM) I don't think it's what you owe, it's what you already paid in... (or had withheld). All you are doing when you "owe" is "trueing up" what should have been withheld all year. If you made more then $3000, you'll be getting something back as long as no one else can claim you. BTW, it is ALWAYS best to owe a teeny, tiny amount to the IRS, because that means you are maximizing your own money. so here's the question. at 21 years old and with my parents paying for some of my college, they can claim me as a dependent. BUT the tax credit for having kids in families only counts them up to age 17 so THEY won't be getting a check on my account. So the question I guess is where do I fit in? Does it mean that if my parents claim me as a dependent i WONT get the $?
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) I'm not sure I've seen a case this term where a newspaper endorsement has made a difference, but i.e. Kennedy, we've seen some major polling moves in certain states created by local endorsements. It seems to vary with the state and with the person. it's not specific endorsements that make any difference, it's just the fact that certain candidates are GETTING endorsements. For example, every day you see another story of another so and so endorsing Obama. It doesn't matter WHO it is, all it shows is that he's getting more support of people who "know what they're talking about" than Clinton is. People see that and go "oh well... i guess he IS the better choice". That's why endorsements matter. The only time specific endorsements matter is when you've got your Kennedy's, your Gores and your Edwards caliber people. Otherwise they're meaningless individually.
  24. i'll be plugged in anywhere someone needs me. i'm not sure i should commish again (i did league 3) because i kinda dropped the ball later in the season and wasn't as active as i should've been, but if y'all want me to again i'd be willing to do it.
  25. damn man i woulda been in but it's full now. lame.
