QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) Thats the thing, the Ricketts borrowed a s***load of money to buy the Cubs, they dont have the money themselves. Back in the day I used to tell my Cubs friends that Reinsdorf and Selig got together and colluded to ensure that the 1) Cuban didnt get the team and 2) The ownership group lead by Banks didnt get the team, to ensure that the Brewers and Sox could compete with them. Its just tin foil hat, but there was something odd about how that sale went down.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 11:26 AM) No, but there's enough smoke there to reasonably assume it to be true. Being a private entity, they don't have to disclose the members or numbers or anything to the public, but there have been quite a few reports from people that know people within the White Sox organization on here. I think I recall reading that one of the big guys at RC Cola was on the board for the Chicago White Sox, but that's merely hearsay and dot connecting from like 5-7 years ago. No its definitely confirmed. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1988-07...jerry-reinsdorf http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/199...p-stake-in-play Its a pretty large ownership group, there are a lot of small owners as well.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) Same with the Bulls or is JR the sole proprietor of that? Yep its an investment group. Famously Steinbrenner rejected joining. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 11:22 AM) Has the Reinsdorf thing ever been confirmed? It's been rumored for awhile but i don't think there's anything official on it. Well for sure it was Robert Mazer but he died in October, Im not exactly sure how his stake has been split. It may be Charles Walsh now. If you look at the Board of Directors, youll get an idea: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/front...ce.jsp?c_id=cws

I dont see why people care what other people root for. I have a friend who is a Jaguars fan, his brother is a Lions fan. Neither have lived in Jax or Detroit respectively. They are just idiots who root for bad teams, but I dont care, I dont give them lessons about why they should really be Bayern Munich fans because they grew up in Germany and thus that is the "football" they should root for. -
After Jurassic Park (and all the other Chricthon stuff) I stopped reading books because it was just simpler to see the movie and never know what really should have happened. JP book is one of my favorite endings.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 11:01 AM) Well how the hell do the SOX have more money than the cubs? The cubs do have a Japanese pitcher unless he was cut. Sox are owned by a bunch of people, their combined assets likely is equal to or exceeds the Ricketts family. Reinsdorf is a figurehead, he (unless its changed) is not even the single biggest owner.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) Ok, this is what I read once and I can't find the article again: The family gave her a popsicle (or hamburger or both) which caused her to bleed, at that point the grandmother performed a suction which only made things worse. Another classic "blame the victim" post. Her heart stopped during a routine surgery, I have seen 0 evidence that she has ever been "awake" after the surgery. So please find me this article so I can eviscerate them. Thanks in advance. And I assume that if a Dr/Hospital hurts your kid, youd be cool if they just throw you out in the street, companies should never have to take responsibility for their mistakes. LOL Or actually COL (cries out loud) -

When I was a kid I liked FSU because of Deion and my hate for Miami. I can still remember watching the wide right games. Its been a while but I still generally root for FSU, although obviously they are not my main team. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 09:15 PM) lol. You're lucky the search function hasn't worked in years. Because you are awful and terrible when it comes to refs and I would expose you but I'm not googling for who knows how long to prove it. Classic post. Ive been what, eating your lunch on this site for 6 years? Its never going to change. But hey, thanks for playing. You claim I always post about the refs, I have pages of posts in this very thread, bet not 1 complains about the refs. In fact I bet all of my posts about refs are saying that the new rules would likely help Wisconsin. Sorry that no one is buying what your selling. You can go back to the NBA thread and talk about the Knicks. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) That's what I thought. Thought what? I havent commented about the refs in over a season, so I have no clue what you are talking about. Go find the last time I complained about refs, seriously its gotta be 9 months ago? My comments in this thread about reffing have been that Wisconsin wont be negatively impacted by the new ref rules because they dont foul a lot. I have no clue what you are talking about, which is why I dismissed you as the stalking troll you are. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 09:00 PM) Wait a minute. Are YOU of all people mocking Illinois fans for ref bashing/obsessing? You? Just tell me know so I can kill myself. The blood is on you. You of all people are in the college basketball thread? Why dont you go back to pretending you know something about the sport in the NBA thread. Stalkers are scarey. -

Im not sure people realized how much of a black hole Bruiser and Evans were on offense last year. This team actually wants to score, its different. -

lol Put this in the wrong thread Wow McCaffery just went ballistic and got thrown out of the game giving Wisconsin 4 free throws. -
Watched the whole season of Homeland over the last 3 days, overall a pretty solid season.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) Huh? What's the point of any post? I compared Cutler's turnover rate to Favre's and thought it was interesting. Cutler averages 1.317 TOs per game, Favre was at 1.354 per game over his entire career. Generally the point is to make statements that are thought provoking. I just wanted to make sure you were doing nonsense Packer baiting and not actually suggesting that Cutler is equivalent to Farve.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 01:48 PM) That's almost a worse turnover rate than Brett Favre! Almost. What is the point of this post?

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 06:02 AM) Shaw being Shaw yesterday. I love it. I only wish that we hadn't burned his freshman season, all because Stephen Garcia was a douchenozzle at times. I knew Wiscy was going to be able to run at will, but that was only the case between the 20s. I also love how Tanner McEvoy got so pissy at South Carolina, and transferred to Wiscy, because he was told he'd never see the field as a QB. So he transfers, and....plays defense. Idiot. McEvoy will have a shot at QB for Wisconsin next year. And the only reason Wisconsin couldnt run inside the 20 was because their OC kept calling play action every time they got into the 20 and thus they ran 1 out of 3 downs. It was a stupid game, thankfully it was basically a glorified scrimmage for Wisconsin (I think they were more concerned about getting Gordon/White the tandem rushing record), because otherwise that game would have really annoyed me. Ellington had to make 2 insane plays, Stave had to get hurt and even then SC barely hung on. -
Its a massive overpay. They must have had some sort of handshake agreement prior to McCown showing that it wasnt the QB it was the system. Anyway, I wouldnt mind getting Connor Shaw (QB) as an undrafted rookie or as a 7th rounder. I know I saw probably his best game ever, but he didnt make mistakes and could be a solid back up.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) Best way to think about the two lines is to recognize the huge role played by scheme. This is why o-line is sometimes tough to judge.

So looks like Stave not sliding may cost Wisconsin the game, not going to help his chance to win the job next year.
