  1. Besides for tallness Wilson is statistically better than Kaep. Player A 16 243 416 58.4 3,197 7.69 21 64 8 3 68.6 91.6 Player B 16 257 407 63.1 3,357 8.25 26 80 9 8 58.9 101.2 Rushing Player A 16 92 524 5.7 28 4 28 3 1 Player B 16 96 539 5.6 27 1 31 2 0 Not really worth debating though because I guess Drew Brees isnt as good as Michael Vick because Michael Vick is tall and just wait until the future when he gets his s*** together. LOL (edit) Not to mention Wilson has been in the NFL a year less, so I have no reason to believe that Kaep will improve when Wilson wont.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 09:28 AM) Outside of the fantastic recommendation of Jason Gage I like Braxton Miller quite a bit. I actually agree that Braxton Miller is a pretty cool name if you are into more exotic first names.
  3. All things being equal id like to see Ball and Wilson in the Super Bowl.
  4. Toe drag rule is a tough one. His foot clearly hit the white line but I guess they are saying he dragged that foot instead of stepping.

  7. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 10:56 PM) Oh, and I don't complain about how hard it is... I complain that it isn't hard enough. Bulls***, you need the US govt and its protectionist laws or youd be making $1 an hour and living in squalor. Lets talk real, lets make the US hard. No minimum wage, were f***ing capitalists if Ill do a job for $1 and you want $9, why not? No immigration restrictions. If I can hire a Vietnamese family to work for $1 a week and living in my garage, why not? No drivers license, no cdl, nothing. I would strive in that society, I would be rich. But I know most people like you wouldnt. And to me, its not about how much money I have, its about trying to help others. And so I didnt even bother addressing your opinion that it was better in the past, because thats an opinion and I dont really care what someone who cant admit the truth thinks. You dont really want a govt of no rules, you want a govt to protect you, make you feel nice and warm, make sure that you dont have to actually compete for a living. Thats cool man, just accept it. Just be honest. There is no problem saying that "I need the govt to protect me but I also think that there should be less rules". Just own that you are no better than someone getting welfare until you fight against minimum wage and immigration restrictions. Both are the govt giving a hand out to people, both cost me money. Just own it, youll be a much happier human. And we live in the most acceptable time in US history, but I strive to make the future the best time in US history. And that is going to require people like you to stop looking to the govt for free stuff and start saying "They wont take my job". Good luck, you really have some warped perspectives.

  9. Speaking of crazy, some PSU faculty started a change.org petition http://www.change.org/petitions/penn-state...=share_petition
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) For the second time, where did I say they were the same? Or equal? Because despite your small caveat (slavery was extreme) it seems like you are trying to legitimize the position of Duke. Add in the constant whining from him about how everything is unfair (hes playing easy mode), it just seems like your suggesting that they were somewhat equivalent. Its how your post comes off, like you are joining in the QQing of Duke.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 12:05 PM) Why do you keep referring to the present? Can we stay within the confines of the original argument please? I'm not talking about 2014 whites, i'm talking turn of the century Irish (you know, the time period that Duke and Balta were talking about). They didn't have an "easy mode" when they got here. They were discriminated against. As were the Polish and Germans and Jews and ... To make a broad statement that to be "white" in the early 20th century was enough is just factually incorrect. They had easy mode compared to blacks, so my point stands. My family came over turn of the century, my grandfather/grandmother were the first born in America on both sides. 2 parts Russian immigrant, 1 part Irish/Italian, 1 part Scandanavian. People have been discriminated against in this country since the Mayflower. Which is why its so sick that so many Americans continue to this day to discriminate against Americans and blame immigrants for our problems. Youd think as the children of discriminated immigrants we would all work together to ensure that all immigrants can come to the US and be free from persecution and discrimination, because we understand their pain. Oh what a world that would be. So yah, you are right, they were discriminated against, but not nearly to the level of other cultures, specifically not white.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 11:54 AM) There has to be some way for them to graduate 97 percent of players..... To be honest though, knock them as we will for many things, their APR and grad rate is top notch, only behind NW in terms of D1 programs. Thats pretty awesome. I graduated college and I wasnt a famous football player, thats not really an accomplishment given how little you need to do to not fail out of college. ND is a small private school, way easier to control faculty.
  13. Yeah i dont care how smart the players are, their job is to be good at sports, my job was to be good at school. I do care if they are rapists and bad people, that I wont support. Luckily Wisconsin has generally avoided that type of stuff, their shoe box scandal was free clothes and who doesnt love free s***.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 11:38 AM) Ok, where did I say it was equivalent? I'll i'm saying is "you're white" isn't a really good response because being white didn't guarantee you a life of privilege in this country for a long period of time. Irish coming off the boats were segregated and not given employment for being dirty Irish. Yes, they came here of their own free will, and they weren't killed for escaping bondage, but that doesn't mean they weren't discriminated against. Im Irish, youre not exactly making a great case here. And being white doesnt give you privilege, but it certainly gave the opportunity to become extremely wealthy. Which is exactly what I said. Being a white male is easy mode, if you cant make it in easy mode, you probably cant beat the game in any mode.
  15. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 05:08 PM) Bleeding occurred three days after complex surgery. Something seems odd about this as if the hospital was at fault I would think the family would be more up in arms that they a. they killed their daughter and b) are now throwing her out. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-l...s#axzz2pwgL4wJ3 There is more to this. You dont generally stay in a hospital that long for a routine surgery. http://www.kidshealth.org.nz/tonsillectomy...notonsillectomy In case you dont trust Kiwis here is an american site outlining how generally you go home that day: http://www.childrensdayton.org/cms/child_h...1e32/index.html
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) Just so it's said, this is pretty ignorant of discrimination to "whites" in this countries history. Irish, Italian, Polish, German, etc. Everyone has someone in their family that suffered from some kind of discrimination at some point. Slavery is obviously the extreme, but lets not pretend life was all peaches and cream for immigrants in the "golden age" of America either. Yeah being an underpaid immigrant is equivalent to being a slave!!! s*** my ancestors were Jews escaping pogroms in Russia, But ya know what, however s***ty it was to be in America it was millions of times better than being in a country where they could kill you for no reason or any reason. Its way better than being property. So no its not ignorant, its just calling a spade a spade. When immigrants came to America they came by choice, and most of them were escaping conditions that were worse than in America. IE Would my great grandmother rather starve in Ireland or be underpaid in the US? Would my great grandfather rather be murdered in Russia or underpaid in America... Now yes there were some Irish slaves way back in the day, if youre family was actually an indentured servant in America you can compare yourself to a slave. Otherwise this is really just bad form. Americans like Duke are seriously the worst of the worst. They live in a fantasy world (the US) and complain about how hard it is. This is not hard. Being a white man in the US is not hard. Its playing the game on easy mode, and if you cant beat it, thats on you.
  17. This could be one of those sneaky moves that JR has made over the course of his ownership. I know its a dream, but man a young pitcher and catcher plus prospects would be a nice offseason.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) My understanding is that JR is the only one in the group that has this option even though he is not the majority shareholder. I'm not a business guy so I'm not sure if that is common or not. That would be extremely uncommon. In almost all instances the person with the most money has the most leverage. Its very possible that somehow Jerry got everyone to sign away their rights. I just would not be extremely confident that 1% can force a sale by 99% even if the agreement says 1% can. I basically think that most judges would write in a right of first refusal for the 99%. There is obviously no real way to tell without looking at the agreements. Basically putting the pieces together this is what it sounds like: Corp X is owned by JR. The White Sox Corp is owned by A, B, C. ABC all agreed to let Corp X make all decisions relating to White Sox Corp. As ABC are not owners of Corp X, they have no power in the running Corp X, thus JR can make all the decisions.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) JR has the option to buy out anybody before they sell the shares to someone else. He has slowly increased his holding in the group. Almost all closely held corps have a right of first refusal.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) Wasn't there an article in the last year about trying to get a succession plan together? I want to say in the Tribune, and something involving his son? Or maybe that was with the Bulls? The article is written really poorly. But here is the key: This may or may not be true. The rationale stated in the article is because of JRs ownership in a company that owns the company. Its interesting, Ive never seen anything like this before so Im not sure what would happen.
  21. I refuse to take any lebron to chicago speculation seriously. Even if he did an announcement and said "Chicago" id say hes trolling until I see him play a game.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 12:47 PM) In fact, if he croaked tomorrow, the executor of his estate would determine who ran the White Sox. This is pretty impossible to believe. Corporations generally have their own succession plan. IE Should the Chairman be unable to perform Vice Chair takes over until new Chairman is selected. So without looking at any documents and completely guessing I would bet based on (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/front_office.jsp?c_id=cws) that: 1) Einhorn would be the acting chairman and 2) the board of directors would vote on a new chairman.
