  1. Yeah, it's horrible. But then again, no more Mondays without baseball!
  2. It's gonna have to be a 12 man staff with only 4 days off in the second half, wite.
  3. Seriously, a "Serious Interest In Jason Kendall" thread should have maybe 5 replies, and then it should be GAWN. Forgotten. Adios. Not 6 pages worth of "I'll take him, but they have to eat a large chunk of his salary". Yeah, that's gonna happen. Baseball realists are damn near extinct.
  4. Tough call. I agree that we'll need a 12 man pitching staff in the second half, as we only get 4 days off. I don't think we can afford to carry three catchers, and we definitely need Gload's left-handed bat off the bench. I think that Burke will be the odd man out, even if he performs better than Davis. You know how stubborn KW is when it comes to guys acquired in trades. Davis could fail miserably between now and the ASB, but he'll still be here for certain.
  5. People who mention Giles: :headshake It says in the excerpt that a slugger is one of their key needs right now. They need someone IN ADDITION to Giles. Very obvious. What in the hell is going on around here......
  6. Oh yeah? Where's it at? You should listen to sports radio more often. You get to hear Atlanta sportswriters and experts all around the country tearing Andruw Jones a new one. That's why you'll never hear me talking about some stupid s*** like this trade. Cub fan talk, no doubt.
  7. And by the way, damn near 48 hours later, I am happy with this trade, although I was confused at first. If Guardado's name was involved, I'd have been ecstatic. Garcia, Guardado, and Davis for Reed, Olivo, Minor League SS, Cotts, and some other low profile prospect. Can you imagine a bullpen with Shingo, Marte, and Guardado? We'd have two of the five best left-handed relievers in the majors. An absolute embarassment of riches.
  8. The more I look into it, the more unlikely it seems. He is content to stay in Arizona, even if they barely win 70 games this season. He doesn't give a s***. He has his ring. But if the Phillies and Marlins take off in July, I say that we try to land Glavine. The Mets need young pitching, and last I checked, we had pitching prospects galore. That's all that we've been drafting in recent years.
  9. That's exactly right. How's the weather over there in Moscow?
  10. I'm very happy that the Sox took two out of three, but the point that you're trying to make here is invalid. When the Devil Rays take two out of three from the Yankees, that doesn't make them a better team. Any baseball realist would agree that the Sox have no business beating Prior or Zambrano. That was basically Brando's underlying point, correct?
  11. Well, considering that all hall of famers in the history of baseball were minor league players at one point, I don't see how that is a bad thing. Speculation is what makes baseball so interesting. Hell yeah people put too much stock in minor league players, and rightly so.
  12. That's not fair. Reed has been injured this year. But I really like your avatar. I have that magazine, in addition to all of the other Becketts, Tuff Stuff, Sports Card Trader, etc. I've kept them all in mint condition since the early nineties. Close to 10 Becketts alone with Frank on the cover.
  13. That article says that he is brutal defensively. There's no way in hell that he was our future SS.
  14. You said that you were never impressed with Reed. What, did you just start following the Sox this year? Because that would explain it.
  15. Yeah, I wasn't impressed either when he hit damn near .400 in the minors last year.
  16. Your parents must have dropped you on your f***ing head when you were a child. It's scary to think that I could be sitting next to a waste of space like you when I go to games. Scary.
  17. Thome! I like him so much more now that he's in the NL. That guy is a certified White Sox killer.
