I don't think we can afford to carry three catchers, and we definitely need Gload's left-handed bat off the bench. I think that Burke will be the odd man out, even if he performs better than Davis. You know how stubborn KW is when it comes to guys acquired in trades. Davis could fail miserably between now and the ASB, but he'll still be here for certain.

And by the way, damn near 48 hours later, I am happy with this trade, although I was confused at first. If Guardado's name was involved, I'd have been ecstatic. Garcia, Guardado, and Davis for Reed, Olivo, Minor League SS, Cotts, and some other low profile prospect. Can you imagine a bullpen with Shingo, Marte, and Guardado? We'd have two of the five best left-handed relievers in the majors. An absolute embarassment of riches.

Well, considering that all hall of famers in the history of baseball were minor league players at one point, I don't see how that is a bad thing. Speculation is what makes baseball so interesting. Hell yeah people put too much stock in minor league players, and rightly so.

That's not fair. Reed has been injured this year. But I really like your avatar. I have that magazine, in addition to all of the other Becketts, Tuff Stuff, Sports Card Trader, etc. I've kept them all in mint condition since the early nineties. Close to 10 Becketts alone with Frank on the cover.
