That's exactly right.

If you smoke and then eat, you're wasting your money because it spoils your buzz. You have to make sure to eat beforehand. What it really does is make you goofy at first, which is why so many people who have tried it once or twice are quick to shoot it down, which is completely understandable.

It's unfortunate that there are so many morons out there who would try the harder stuff on the strength of boredom. And that's what it all comes down to, really.

Yeah, a couple of my closest friends (both of whom have great jobs as of now over at the Mercantile Exchange) used to deal weed in high school and college, so it was always around. After a short while, you develop a tolerance, and you mostly just catch a buzz after that whenever you smoke, no matter how potent the stuff is. Actually, that's the problem. Once your tolerance sets in, and weed no longer "does it" for you, you venture out to try new things. And that's why so many people from my old neighborhood, and even a couple of my family members (cousins) are now junkies who will rob their own mothers blind if it came down to it. You just have to know better than to try any dangerous drugs in the first place.

Even though I got along with the stoners at High School and even smoked a little something something with them every once in a while, you just knew that they were all destined to drop out at some point. Not too many of them graduated in the end. Reminds me of that Slick Rick line: "Hey kid, walk straight, master your high". That's what I'm talking about.

When I was between the ages of 14 and 17, me and my buddies used to get cases of 40s (12 per) every weekend, and even cases of 64s (6 per) once in a while. I thought that was what being in high school was all about? High school deep in the heart of Chicago, anyway. I know that in the suburbs they get drunk and film it. Different mentallity out there in the burbs, no question.

Scott Podsednik is the man. It's a shame that there are so many great outfielders in the NL, or otherwise, Podsednik might have had a shot at making the All Star team this year. McKeon will add Pierre to the roster for cerain, and then you have Bonds, Berkman, Pujols, Griffey, Cabrera, Alou, etc, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.

My only beef with Young Gun is that he lists money as one of his primary interests in his profile. Capitalist pig!

Prima donna or not, the guy has shown flashes of brilliance in the past & had a .700 slugging percentage before he got injured. He's 27 years old. When healthy, he is one of the top three 3rd basemen in the majors. A gold glover with the potential to lead the AL in homers, as he did in 2000? That guy is the man. My all star ballot: 1B Thomas, CWS 2B Uribe, CWS 3B Rodriguez, NYY SS Tejada, BAL C Rodriguez, DET OF Suzuki, SEA OF Guerrero, ANA OF Ramirez, BOS NL 1B Thome, PHIL 2B Kent, HOU 3B Rolen, STL SS Izturis, LA C Lo Duca, LA OF Bonds, SF OF Pujols, STL OF Berkman, HOU Apologies to Miguel Cabrera and Juan Pierre..... McKeon will make sure to put those guys on the All Star team regardless, though.

The NL's worst offense is still much, much better than any offense you will find in the minors. Vidro, Johnson, Everett, Cabrera, Wilkerson, etc. Juan Rivera ain't too shabby, apparently. You're taking it way too far. I won't even comment on the Hitler thing. And how is Hawk going to come out and criticize the White Sox players, and then sit next to them on team flights? Hell yeah he's a f***ing company man. He doesn't have much of a choice. -
I guess that this was what beck72 was referring to when he mentioned a pile of s*** with flies swarming all around it.

Griffey Jr joins the 500 club

Griffey! -
I think this post is what they would refer to as a momentary lapse of reason, because I've come to expect better from you. I think it's obvious that I was talking about White Sox fans in general having a discussion about something that is asinine. What are you talking about? You think that I was somehow taking shots at you? It's outrageously stupid to think that we could get Crawford for Reed and a prospect. I don't care what the Philadelphia papers are reporting. Byrd and Padilla? That's pretty far-fetched as well, but at least an experienced starting pitcher is involved. Now, Reed and Garland might get it done, but we don't want to trade Garland.

That's exactly right. I like the fact that Ozzie will stick with a starter through thick and thin, but when a guy is making his first ever start, you have to know better. Hey, he's learning, you know? -
But it's like this. Every team can afford up to two easy outs in the batting order if those players save runs via defense. When Joe hits, it's only a bonus, and not necessarily a necessity (kick ass phrase right there). And as far as drafting Fields is concerned, I think that ChiSoxFn said it best: It was a talent pick, and the possiblity of organizational depth at that position was a secondary factor. Just remember that most 3rd basemen can also play the corner outfield slots & 1st base. If Carlos Lee can do it, anyone can.
-
Yup. s*** happens when Frank exerts himself on defense. It is this particular case in addition to various others which has me convinced that the DH is a wonderful thing. Something that Farmer and Rooney discussed really bothered me the other day. They were discussing the "Unwritten Rule" of not throwing a curveball to a pitcher who is batting. That is such bulls***. He who is in favor of abolishing the DH is in the wrong, IMO.

What is Josh addicted to? Ecstacy? He belongs in Yankee pinstripes. For all of their glamour and glitz, they like the crackheads over there, what with Strawberry, Gooden, Howe, etc just to name a few. Gary Sheffield has to be on something (in addition to steroids, that is).

Jackson out as Lakers coach
hammerhead johnson replied to Heads22's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
That's where Jerry West resides. And why did he leave LA? You guessed it. Because of Phil Jackson. Jackson will go and coach baseketball on Mars before he ever goes to Memphis. -
Yeah, maybe in like three years from now. Nobody is thinking about Josh Fields, man. The vast majority of position players drafted out of college need at least three years. And put me down as one of those who never criticized Crede. I can't remember the last time I had crow on my plate.

Carl is on pace for around 70 stolen bases. He's an outstanding defensive player. He's only 22 years old. And yet, all that we have to do is give up Reed and a prospect? We're not Cubs fans, people. Let's put a halt to these retarded trade rumors.

The Cheat is older than you are.

Jackson out as Lakers coach

Don't forget about the Spurs. They'll be going head to head with the Pistons or Pacers for the next two or three years in the Finals. They are a phenomenal defensive team, just like our elite teams out East. -
I wouldn't trade Ron Artest straight up for Tracy McGrady. Defensive player of the year? That's like the equivalent of the Cy Young award in baseball. Wouldn't you agree? And who trades a Cy Young award winner for a Manny Ramirez or Jim Thome? I swear, that has to be by far the dumbest trade rumor that I have ever heard.
