  1. This is one of those series where I'll shrug my shoulders at whoever wins.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 07:29 AM) It didn't even get Padilla thrown out of the game, hows that for today's game? That's the umpire's fault. Vazquez would be put in a tight spot if he beaned back. The guy who retaliates ALWAYS gets in trouble. That's why kids always say, "But he started it!"?
  3. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:00 AM) Thing is BD, had Javy retaliated right away, and he says he knew it was intentional the first time, then its all a moot point. This falls on Vasquez's shoulders, not Tracey. Ozzies anger was harshly misplaced. Not in today's game. Instigation will get you suspended these days.
  4. I get the feeling some posters around here haven't played much baseball, if any. It's the SHOW kid, you're on the team of the WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS. The line of people that want to be in your shoes might as well be endless. You want to be on the champs? Earn your stripes. Hit him in the ribs. QUOTE(Wanne @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) Absolutely! Ya know...I'm just flat out gettin tired of this s***. Not only does our catcher get friggin sucker punched (and not really a goddamn thing has been done about it)....now our guys have targets on their backs...especially AJ (for whatever goddamn reason). Ozzie went off...sure. Call it cool or not...whatever...maybe some of ya could send Tracey some flowers or somethin' if you're worried about his little feelers...but Ozzie should go off...and not just at his team...but in general that this s*** needs to stop...period! They're 1.5 games back of the AL Central lead. The last thing the White Sox need is to sit Vazquez because of a suspension. There are two AAA players on the team...any want to stay? Make them do it.
  5. QUOTE(PaleHose4Life35 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:53 AM) I think this DL stint will help Politte just like it helped Crede last season. I'm not expecting a Crede type of turnaround but if he improves his numbers a little bit he'll help out that bullpen. Even if he improves "a little" he'll still be completely worthless. With a 7.40 ERA, Cliff needs to improve A LOT to be of any use.
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) Does anyone know why? It was a horrible deal to give Garland.. Because Brandon McCarthy sucks. There, I said it.
  7. You could've just as easily gotten a Cardinals hat.

    SS Help

The White Sox don't need another short stop.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) I think we all know that Garcia's rotation spot is as secure as that of Buehrle, Contreras, and Vazquez. I really wonder how Garcia is able to get hitters out though. He looked like a much better pitcher last season.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Cesar Izturis is completely useless, what exacty does he bring to the table outside of great defense (which Uribe already has)? He's overpriced, comming off major surgery and a s***ty hitter. Seriously, thank you.
  11. It's a long way to go, but if the season ended today, would Jermaine Dye be the league's MVP? He has a .316 BA. He is second in the AL in homers (Behind Thome) with 19. He has 46 RBI (the league leader has 53....also Thome). He has a league leading .677 slugging percentage. A .411 OBP, top 10 in the league and a league best 1.086 OPS. (#2 on the list is Jim Thome). Could you make a case for Jim Thome? What about other players around the league? Discuss.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Actually, you have to get to October first, and again, if a couple of guys on this team keep their heads up their asses, that may be in jeopardy too. Good lord shut up. They're 36-23, the second best in the league while people on this board seem to think they're playing like "s***". It'd take a tragedy for this White Sox team NOT to make the playoffs.
  13. Offense doesn't win championships, every Sox fan on this board should know this. If Detroit's pitching staff keeps at a clip of 3.67, they're in it for the long haul. Everyone notices Cleveland's big bats, but it's like nobody has seen that 5.00 team ERA up from last year's 3.61. Like Cleveland last year, Detroit is pitching at the top of the league. As far as I've seen, Cleveland sucks and at best they'll be like the White Sox teams of past years...all offense, no bite.
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 04:12 AM) He had a steller year. Not multiple ones, only one. In 2002, when he was 26, he posted a .859 OPS (126 OPS+) with 29 HR and a .524 slugging percentage. Past that, he's been nothing special at the bat, and definitely isn't worth the $10.75 million he's being paid this year or $12 million option for next year. Who said the White Sox need him for power numbers? How about you take a look at his OBP and runs scored. Fact is, he's better than Brian Anderson, A LOT better right now. Anderson may be able to patrol center field well, but it's hard not to notice him missing cut off men, not backing up and running into JD when he's hitting below .200. I wouldn't condone trading Anderson to the Twins, but anything less, and I'd make this deal in a heart beat. I'll also mention he plays Ozzie's type of ball, hard nosed, clean and unselfish. He's worth 12 million, you ask me.
  15. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) i've been making that call since the day we traded for him. i loved this kid in arizona. It's either going to be Uribe or Anderson. Given what Uribe did for the team last year, I can't honestly think Cintron is going to take over the starters roll. If they get rid of both, which seemingly most of this board wants, we're in for a MASSIVE downgrade in defense. Great clutch homer from Cintron, but Uribe is the starting shortstop.
  16. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Torii Hunter is not that good on offense, and his defense isn't significantly better than Anderson's in the field. This would be pretty damn pointless, and expensive. He's had stellar years. Look at what's around him these days, compared to when the Twins were winning the central. He'd be a much more productive hitter in a line up with Thome, Konerko and Dye. Not to mention the versatility he could add on the basepaths. He may not be able to carry an offense, but he can be a pretty damn good player in the right environment. If the Sox can nab him for anything less than Brian Anderson, I don't see why they wouldn't want Torrii Hunter.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) They are 1 out of first, and based on tomorrow's pitching matchup, may be tied for 1st in 24 hours. Why the hell would they trade Griffey? Because it's not like the Reds have ever gotten off to a hot start and fallen hard before...
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) If you try to stop him he will eat your face. This is true. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) The DH option can only be used on the pitcher. It's in the rule book. Unless Z wants to eat it. Then he'll be eating a few faces to get that rule changed.
  19. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) When of if he gets back yes he would help us, as is Bmac is the only long relief besides cotts we really have, and I think some of our guys are a bit overworked. Herm if he gets back into form could help us and im guessin would setup bobby for the close. However with his injury i wouldnt expect prime numbers more along 4 in era What would a middle reliever with an ERA in the 4's do for the White Sox? Give us another Matt Thornton? Great. If there was anything indictive of last season, it was a lights out bullpen. And giving Hermanson, after that injury, an estimate of anything near 4.00 is a joke. I'd drop a load in my pants by shock if Dustin Hermanson had an ERA anywhere near 5.00. I'm one who thinks this team can survive with Juan Uribe hovering around .200, but if they don't do anything about the bullpen, and I mean in bringing in a guy who can duplicate Cliff Politte's all-star like numbers from last season, the Sox will see a few more of these bad runs.
  20. Did everyone ignore Konerko and Crede's errors? Did everyone also ignore the fact that Uribe wasn't charged with an error? 1 bad game, people. Uribe has been rock solid in the field ever since he put on a White Sox uniform. God forbid him to have a couple bad months and a couple of bad defensive plays. Just like Brian Anderson, he isn't hurting the team. Every once and awhile, if you can believe this, a short stop might make a bad throw. Even major league short stops. RELAX.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) I agree with the end of that statement completely, and its just another example of Dusty being a horrible manager. It tells the player that Dusty Baker doesn't give a s*** about them, only himself looking good. Even if he doesn't believe it, a good manager backs up his players in a situation like that. Instead Dusty just threw his best hitter under the bus. Why should he back him up? Michael Barrett did everything wrong. AJ Pierzynski did everything right. Go back to when Torrii Hunter steamrolled Jamie Burke at the plate. It was a much dirtier play, but Guillen didn't do s*** but say, "That's how I want my guys to play." Yet, we all wanted retaliation. There are a lot of things about managing a ball club that us fans don't and never will understand.
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 18, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) Whose should be who's. Grammar is for schoolboys.

    Garland

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 14, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) Or maybe we can still support Jon through his rough patch and hope he gets on track soon? My bad. This is Soxtalk we're talking about. I've always been a Garland backer. But the fact is, one year doesn't prove anything. Baseball is a funny game...there have been plenty of one year wonders. Now that I've seen Garland pitch a good season, I want to see him pitch another. Fact is, he isn't pitching well. Therefore I'm concerned.

    Garland

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 13, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) Nice to see our own fans turn on our players so quickly, especially after what Jon did last season. So he has a good year last year and he earns the right to suck balls and not get hammered by the fans?
