QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) You would be better off just buying a PC if that was the case. This is sadly true of Sony decides to do this. Maybe they want to boost their Vaio sales?

QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) Damn shame god only knows didn't make it as it is clearly the greatest song ever people are just silly and not willing to recognise it as such. YOU CAN'T REFUSE THAT MELODY. The original All Along the Watchtower?
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) Well... it certainly shouldn't include the folk icon that you use as a SN here. Have you ever heard Like a Rolling Stone? Just checking.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Electric guitars, hard drum beats, loud vocals. Sounds more like to arena rock to me.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) This poll proves that: #1. Some of you have no idea what "rock" is. What is rock?

QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) After this round, as you can probably tell, there will be 3 winners, an odd number. So, to make things even, a losing song with the highest votes will be back for the semifinals. Section 1. While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles vs. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix vs. Baba O'Reilly - The Who Section 2. Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones vs. A Day in the Life - The Beatles

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) My hope is that the memory of Sept. 11, 2001 stays respectful and low-key. I would never want to hear people say "Oh, that poor guy got Twin Towered" the way people use the term "Pearl Harbored" now. I don't think Oliver Stone is that type of director. A lot of his movies are over the top, but I don't think he's your typical Hollywoodized director. I guess I may see it knowing Stone is the director, but I'm sure it'll be a rather disturbing movie under the healm of Oliver Stone.

Flight 93 will be better, bar none. Paul Greengrass is a wonderful man to make such a movie.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) Yeah, but last year was pretty big and there wasn't an act that was a real huge draw. It felt like things were going back to how they should be, guess that didn't last long. Last years list was full of a lot of indie rock bands. It was a great list, I was pissed I couldn't go. If DMB and Smashing Pumpkins headlined it, I don't think Chicago would want to touch it--I don't care where Billy Corgan is from.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) Here it is. The matches get harder and the winner is closer to being crowned favorite classic rock song of Soxtalk. Bold your favorite song out of each match. Please note that two songs are back for reasons that are stated below. Section 1. White Room - Cream vs. While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan vs. Sympathy for the Devil - The Rolling Stones All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix vs. When the Levee Breaks- Led Zeppelin Section 2. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen vs. Baba O'Reilly - The Who Pinball Wizard - The Who vs. Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones A Day in the Life - The Beatles vs. Dream On - Aerosmith *This red match has two songs that were eliminated from Round 2. They are here because if I don’t have them, there will only be a conclusion of 5 winners, an odd number, so with this additional match, it will be even. So to make things easier, after this round is over there will be 6 on going songs instead of 5.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) Here is Round 2. Since Strawberry Fields Forever and Free Bird tied with 10 votes each, I have put them back in the tournament. They have been thrown into a three way match so just vote for 1 song in that particular match. Once again, please bold the song you vote for. Section 1. No Time - Guess Who vs. White Room - Cream While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles vs. Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynard vs. Strawberry Field Forever - The Beatles Ticket to Ride - The Beatles vs. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy vs. Sympathy for the Devil - The Rolling Stones A Day in the Life - The Beatles vs. All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix Section 2. Surrender - Cheap Trick vs. When the Levee Breaks- Led Zeppelin Dream On - Aerosmith vs. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones vs. Thunderstruck - AC/DC Stay With Me - The Faces vs. Pinball Wizard - The Who Crazy Train - Ozzy Osborne vs. Baba O'Reilly - The Who

QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) I watched parts of all four Series wins on DVD this past weekend. As I watched Jenks blow the save in game 2 and have a shaky outing in game 3, I started to think that in order for him to be a truly dominating closer (which I know he can be), he needs to develope a change up. Because his fastball is unhittable as a high strike, it seemed that the Astros were starting to lay off of the pitch by the third game. It got me thinking that a great change when mixed with the curve and the high heat would put him in Rivera and Gagne territory. I'm curious to know what you guys think. He has an A+ fastball and an A+ curveball. A change-up would be worthless for him, especially given how hard his fastball is. Unless he could drop that change-up in at around 75-80 MPH, it'd be more of a 'hit me as hard as you can' pitch. Once Bobby gets confidence in that curveball, there's no telling how good he'll be.

By the way, are the Kinks getting a fair wrap having their name spelled wrong as "The Kins"? EDIT: I guess I was late in voting anyway. Outcry for the Kinks!

QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) Here it is folks. I have here all of the songs that you Soxtalker’s have chosen as your 2 favorite classic rock songs. There are 4 sections, each containing 10 songs and 5 matches. Choose the song that you like the best by bolding it. Section 1. Slowride - Fogthat vs. White Room - Cream No Time - Guess Who vs. Gallows Pole - Led Zeppelin While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles vs. Feeling Alright - Joe Cocker Ticket to Ride - The Beatles vs. God Only Knows - The Beach Boys Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan vs. Tape From California - Phil Ochs Section 2. Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles vs. Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynard A Day in the Life - The Beatles vs. Mr Churchill Says - The Kinks Sympathy for the Devil - The Rolling Stones vs. Baby Blue - Badfinger American Woman - The Guess Who vs. Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower (It's quite sad this song got in here but not Dylan's original All Along the Watchtower) Ridin' the Storm Out - REO Speedwagon vs. When the Levee Breaks- Led Zeppelin Section 3. Surrender - Cheap Trick vs. Echoes - Pink Floyd Aerosmith - Dream On vs. Sugar Magnolia - Grateful Dead Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen vs. Rock n Roll All Night - Kiss 20th Century Boy - T-Rex vs. Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones Thunderstruck - AC/DC vs. The Best of Times - STYX Section 4. Stay With Me - The Faces vs. Rock n Roll, Hoochie Koo - Rick Derringer Pinball Wizard - The Who vs. Barracuda - Heart Crazy Train - Ozzy Osborne vs. The Voice - Moody Blues Feel Like Makin Love - Bad Company vs. Baba O'Reilly - The Who The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy vs. Ohh La La - The Faces
-
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) Well, almost. I agree that it is RnR perfection, but I will have to go with: Ohh La La - Faces 20th Century Boy - T-Rex (I would choose other T-Rex songs, but I think we are looking for songs that are "familiar") When you're dealing with Faces though, there is no such thing as a "bad choice". As long as you stick with a certain time period for T-Rex, there is also no such thing as a "bad choice". Good choices. I love T-Rex.

Mr Churchill Says - The Kinks (Arthur)

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) I thought this was a trick question...I was going to say "a vacuum".

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) See, this is why I will never offer a true opinion on Rap songs. That's considered "bad" Rap...right??? For the life of me, I can't figure out what makes that one bad...and another one good. I'm sooooo ignorant on that style of music. Just look at how much of a douche bag he's being while listening to that song. That, alone, is enough reason to hate the song.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) Working on the Sixth book in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, "Song of Susannah" I've been interested in reading that series. Is it any good?

Got Through: The Myth of Sisyphus - Albert Camus Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoevsky Notes of A Dirty Old Man - Charles Bukowski Then I got tired of these deep thinking books and read: The Fantastic Mr. Fox - Roald Dahl The Witches - Roald Dahl

Where does this guy get off classifying Blonde on Blonde as a rock album? And what the hell is it doing in the company of those 9 lesser albums?
