  1. I'm reserving all judgements until after the trade deadline.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) Can Gordon hit line drives and deliver with RISP? I didn't know an offense wasn't allowed to go into a dryspell. Why not piss on the pitching and trade it all for Soriano then?
  3. The Sox are a Tom Gordon away from winning the Central. I promise you.
  4. QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) i have had no problem with youtube. But when I watch windows media on my mac it plays half way and just stops. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?? Buy a PC...Mac's are overrated garbage.
  5. For some reason, when I opened the thread I thought it was going to say, "To stop the slump, eat spiff! (poop)." And in the middle of thinking that I thought nothing could possibly be worse...
  6. I used to have pre and post game routines up until last season. In the games I'll do things. If the Sox are in the middle of a big inning, I won't move a muscle. I won't clap. I won't smile. I won't say anything. Sometimes I'll try not to breathe (I don't reccommend this.) My favorite one is to eat a triple decker PB and J during the top of the 5th. I've been out of bread for about a week and a half now, but I got some today. I'm eating one now. We'll see what kind of luck it brings. I'll do other weird things too. Basically I notice my habits during that game and when things are going good, I try to replicate them. I.E. blinks, coughing, changing positions and blah blah blah. Sometimes insanity creeps on me during the games. I don't reccommend being superstitious.
  7. I agree with a lot of what Coop said. Obviously pitchers go through dry spells, but like the saying goes, "Excuses are like assholes, they all stink." There's only so much a coaching staff can do, judging from these comments, I'm getting the vibe that everyone on the staff has done all of that. There comes a point in time where players have to take things into their own hands. If things continue on this path for the starters, I think the rotation should be shuffled. Drop a guy into the bullpen and pull McCarthy in. If they complain, get out of town. 11 million dollars is a lot to pay a player, but it's even more to pay when they lose you more ball games then they win. EDIT: Is there a swear filter now? I kind of want to see how it works. Eat my spiff you mother fishing son of a beach horse licking whoo whoo sucker.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 03:38 AM) What really peeved me about this game was the inning where Anderson had a leadoff double on the error from Rogers. Our best bunter coming up can't get it down. Then Iguchi nor Thome can single him home. I dunno about you, but ya just sorta had a feeling that even though we were up 1-0, bad news was on the horizon. The bunt was the key to the Yankees sweeping us. The stolen base was the key to Detroit beating us. If you'll notice, the Sox have been fairly bad in both departments for most of this season. QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 03:45 AM) Widger is just about the only reserve that doesnt do a damn thing for this team.. other than that I really dont have a problem seeing Mack or Ozuna out there.. hell even freaking Gload has been solid He wears those cool sunglasses.
  9. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) It's all up to Detroit cooling off. No it's not.
  10. Pods is fine, you ask me, so long as he's getting bunts down. I think the Sox will have learned a lot from this Detroit series. I think you may see them revert to the small ball ways. I think you may see them live or die by it. If they don't get bunts down, they go down trying. If they don't swipe bags, they go down trying. Afterall, minus one pitch, the Sox starters were very good in this series. Detroit just gave the Sox a dose of their own medicine. Hopefully they'll give back the league and even bigger one.
  11. The last thing I want to see are all the threads about how Baez can't throw a strike.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) So Ozzie enters into this equation where? Sometimes the manager has to tell a hitter what to do at the plate. The pressure was on Rogers. Uribe is a free swinger, make him take a strike. Ain't nothing wrong with that. If his players aren't playing smart, the manager has to be smart for them. It's not uncommon.
  13. QUOTE(Beltin @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) Most insightful post of the season. Congrats. I am so tired of reading how the Tigers are weak here or there and how they are going to collapse or how they can not keep up this pace. They are not only in first place in all of baseball, they are leading or close to leading every major important team statistical category in the majors. You do not do that because you are lucky. I hope the Sox spank them in the next three games, but the fact is they are 4.5 games better than the Sox right now. In a game of inches that is a pretty sizable lead. Also, even with the 2nd best record in baseball, there are several teams pretty close to the WS heels in the WC race. I am more worried about Minnesota and NY right now than I am about catching the Tigers. And yet everyone ignores that Kenny Rogers ERA is now 4.10. Not to mention their 1-6 record against a team posters around here seemingly have no faith in. Did I mention the Sox have been on the Tigers heels all year? (Without any consistancy, to boot.) The Tigers are f***ed. BOOK IT.
  14. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) you all are like the gum found laid upon urban sidewalks. pink. Your avatar is crazy awesome.
  15. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) Where would Cameron play? In LF, CF, or a 4th OF. Cameron is not a lead off man as we very well know. At this point, he's better than Anderson. His 14 SB's look pretty nice as well. This is a deal that makes sense for the White Sox.
  16. The worst part is if the Sox want to get anywhere near the 2005 form, they need TWO pitchers to pick up a ton of slack. That means Jav and Jon need to drop down near the 3's in the ERA. And unless they get better in the rotation or improve the pen, I can't see this team making it to the World Series again. I can see them winning a short series, but not best of 7.
  17. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) I actually thought he was done before this surgery. I didn't think he would be the same guy. Hell, even watching his commercial about that damn bag proves it. The real Gagne would have put a hole in that f***er. I saw that commercial for the first time today. I kind of thought the same thing.
  18. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) The ending was a total sellout by Kipling. That and the questionable snowglobe trade for the movie role made me lose interest in this blog. Possibly. But he may have planned it all the way...or perhaps stumbled upon gold in the midst of it. I know I'd like to try and trade/sell a guaranteed movie role.
  19. QUOTE(bschmaranz @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) I was just reading Jason Stark's latest post on his insider blog and he said one team exec. that talked to them said they're trying to acquire Jason Schmidt. It also mentions Brandon McCarthy and Brian Anderson as possible trade bait, with Kenny having another deal in place for a new centerfielder if this happens. I'd just like to know why exactly would we need Schmidt unless something is perhaps in place involving Garland/Garcia/Vazquez? Win while you can. The Sox endured 88 years in a row without a championship. Here's a chance to win two. Jason Schmidt sounds good to me.
  20. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) I GOT YOU BEAT!!!! heres the myspace of the blonde girl from the punchAJ campaign http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=21786133 She named her dog Marley. NO THANKS.
  21. I don't think the White Sox pitchers are so bad that they can't hold the fort down when the going gets tough. Maybe not as solid as last year, but they have a lot of offense to keep them out of long slumps and win games when the pitcher didn't exactly "have it". But keep in mind, nobody has anchored the Sox staff for over a month now. Jose needs to be the dominating force he was down the stretch last year. They aren't as good as last year, but I don't think they're so bad they can't keep their team in the race. Garland won't win 18 and drop down a 3.50 ERA, but even if the Sox can get him into 2004 form they'd be well off. Same with Freddy Garcia. But I think the key player of the White Sox is Jose Contreras. He needs to be a dominating force for the rest of the year. He was an automatic win at the end of last year, if he can be that good again this year you'll see a much better White Sox staff. Like hitting is contagious, so is pitching. Jose needs to be the ace.
  22. I don't care what they do against the Yankees and Red Sox. Take care of business in the division and beat up the Tigers and Twins. Make a statement to the division first, they can make a statement around the rest of the league later in October.
  23. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) There, I said it. There is a very good chance. Everyone in the bullpen (minus Jenks and even Cotts) is underperforming, it's tough to figure they'd get worse. Buehrle is having a usual bump in the road...hey, he has one every year, I'm sure he's earned it...but Garland seems to be coming around the bend. I think winning the division rides on the success of Jose Contreras. If he can dominate and become almost an automatic win, the Sox will stay out of prolonged slumps. The team overall is not as consistent as last season, but if they can get any form of consistancy from the rotation (which, for the most part they have out of Buehrle and Garcia), I don't see any reasons why the Sox wouldn't win 100 games.
  24. The 2003 ball club didn't play defense worth a s***. They had Olivo, D'Angelo Jimenez, Jose Valentin, Carlos Lee and even Carl Everett played CF for a short while. That's about as bad as you can get defensively. As far as how full time hitters were, the only player to hit over .300 was Magglio Ordonez. The 2003 team had a decent 1-2-3-4 top of the rotation, but Danny Wright was never a major league baseball player. And the bullpen, as shaky as it has been this year, was far worse. Jose Paniagua even made an appearance in the Sox pen. How about Rick White and Billy Koch?
