  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) That 9th inning was the worst handling of pitchers I have ever seen. My dad agreed with me. I won't rip on Ozzie for letting Buehrle try to finish the game. He had been pitching great and his pitch count wasn't too high (92, I believe). But after Buehrle gave up the first hit, he should have been immediately pulled for Hermanson. I disagree. Ozzie's handling was fine. Iguchi botched a double play, plain and simple. Putting in Everett for Iguchi however, that was questionable.
  2. Wow. b****, b****, b****. We won folks. We won. Ugly. But we won. Are you going to b**** if we win like that in the playoffs?

    He's hurt. Strained hip flexor. WONDFERFUL.

    DJ said something about the sun. I fail to realize why Ozzie would pull Frank because of the sun. That's the dumbest excuse I've ever heard in my life, I think.

    I was asking myself the same thing. In a 15 run ballgame, maybe. But in a 1 run game? I don't care if it's his first game back. He looked good enough and should have been out there. Stupid move if you ask me. Not to mention Timo went down without a breath.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 29, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) It's 1 game. Texas probably would have killed any starting pitcher the way they are hitting at the moment. Throw me out there and we'll see.
  9. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 29, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) Ask and ye shall receive. They have a town called Balzers. Tell me that's not funny.
  10. Obviously to farmer snot when he gets to the plate.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Baj: 24.2 IP, 1-1, 1.09 ERA, 4 SV, 12 H, 3 ER, 2 HR, 15 BB, 25 K - BB are starting to concern Jenkies: 24.0 IP, 0-1, 3.00 ERA, 12 SV, 21 H, 8 ER, 1 HR, 13 BB, 29 K - BB also a concern. Almost exact same sample size. Tough call when you factor in Jenks talent, but Baj has been facing AAA competition while Jenks is down in AA. Neither are an option if we plan on going far, if you ask me. Not at this juncture, anyway.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 29, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) We're still in first place...I'm sure there's been World Champions that have dropped 3 games in a row. No. Never. Idiot. But I think it's a fair assessment to say this team isn't World Series caliber as of now.
  13. QUOTE(AirScott @ May 29, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) I'm not sure of his contract situation, but I'd like to see the Sox pick up Morgan Ensberg. he's doing basically what we expected of Crede, and I'm sure we could find some team in the rebuilding mode to take Crede off our hands. (and thus officially ending my status as the lone Joe Crede supporter left in Chicago) Why oh why would Hoston trade Ensberg with the situation they are in? He's no better than Crede anyway. Book it.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) Seriously, stop with the name calling and acting stupid. I find it kind of funny.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) You would think we just played the Royals and D-Rays this last road trip. The Halos are always competitive, and Texas is just stacked. We split with Anaheim, which we should have. We were just swept by Texas, which we should not have been. Texas can mash the ball, but their pitching is weak and we went in their with a bunch of broken tree trunks.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 29, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) Almost, if not every hitter in the lineup is hitting WELL below there career average. It's almost June. They've been in a funk for two months. Can we call it a funk at this point?
  17. Maybe A.J. Pierzynski was a big pick up, but I'm starting to think none of the other everyday pick up's matter worth a damn. Would we be even close to 30 wins this year with last years pitching staff? I bet we'd be lucky to be sniffing 15. I'm not one to normally make rants like this, but I think it's fairly obvious our offense is at the bottom of the barrel. I'm not certain we've scored over 10 runs yet this season, and I can't remember many occasions where our offense put a team in their place when we had a chance. 90% of our line-up hacks with the same mentality we had last year: pulling the ball. Frank Thomas may be coming back tomorrow, but that doesn't do s*** for our offense when we get past the 4 and 5 hitter. I'm tired of Rowand, Dye, Everett, Uribe, Crede, Konerko and Pierzynski. I'm tired of them being as inconsistant as a little boy at a candy shop. Do they have the talent we think they do? Two months into the season, I'm not so sure anymore. Keep pitching, or else.
  18. "Captain Koons: Hello, little man. Boy, I sure heard a bunch about you. See, I was a good friend of your dad's. We were in that Hanoi pit of hell together over five years. Hopefully... you'll never have to experience this yourself, but when two men are in a situation like me and your Dad were, for as long as we were, you take on certain responsibilities of the other. If it had been me who had not made it, Major Coolidge would be talkin' right now to my son Jim. But the way it turned out is I'm talkin' to you, Butch. I got somethin' for you. [sits down and pulls a gold wrist watch from his pocket] Captain Koons: This watch I got here was first purchased by your great-grandfather during the first World War. It was bought in a little general store in Knoxville, Tennessee. Made by the first company to ever make wrist watches. Up till then people just carried pocket watches. It was bought by private Doughboy Erine Coolidge on the day he set sail for Paris. It was your great-grandfather's war watch and he wore it everyday he was in that war. When he had done his duty, he went home to your great-grandmother, took the watch off, put it an old coffee can, and in that can it stayed 'til your granddad Dane Coolidge was called upon by his country to go overseas and fight the Germans once again. This time they called it World War II. Your great-grandfather gave this watch to your granddad for good luck. Unfortunately, Dane's luck wasn't as good as his old man's. Dane was a Marine and he was killed - along with the other Marines at the battle of Wake Island. Your granddad was facing death, he knew it. None of those boys had any illusions about ever leavin' that island alive. So three days before the Japanese took the island, your granddad asked a gunner on an Air Force transport name of Winocki, a man he had never met before in his life, to deliver to his infant son, who he'd never seen in the flesh, his gold watch. Three days later, your granddad was dead. But Winocki kept his word. After the war was over, he paid a visit to your grandmother, delivering to your infant father, his Dad's gold watch. This watch. [holds it up, long pause] Captain Koons: This watch was on your Daddy's wrist when he was shot down over Hanoi. He was captured, put in a Vietnamese prison camp. He knew if the gooks ever saw the watch it'd be confiscated, taken away. The way your Dad looked at it, that watch was your birthright. He'd be damned if any slopes were gonna put their greasy yella hands on his boy's birthright. So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide something. His ass. Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable hunk of metal up my ass two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you. "
  19. So do 13 other countries. This list is just more bull plop to get people angry. f*** it.
  20. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ May 28, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Please make the dudes in the lineup work harder to swing the bats or make the opposing pitchers scared s***less, so Rowand and Konerko see better pitches. thanks X______drowninginflame________
  21. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ May 27, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) ...same result. I saw that coming.

  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Not to scare anyone, but what if Frank isn't his usual self when he returns? We all keep saying and thinking that he's going to make this offense much better, but what if he doesn't? Bad Thomas > Everett
