  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) I don't know why you would like Timo seeing how he is an aweful player, who does not deserve to start. But I guess he has some qualities a person might like. Aweful would seemingly mean good if it were a word.
  2. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) it is the dumb ones that define you, everyone else in the country thinks sox fans are crazy ump beaters We are.
  3. Probably the worst series we've played all year.
  4. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) I'm sorry Duke but you are WAY off on this one. It's not disrespectful to want your team to be more ready to win a championship and if you believe that then you are gullible. Kenny says things like that because its a way for him to be able to spin deadline inactivity down the line. Ask the Pat Gillick-era Mariners how standing pat works for you. Bingo. 50 wins just means there is a better chance a move will be made.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) If Contrereas doesn't have his forkball, he won't even be worth having a spot on the roster. His fastball doesn't have enough movement, and lacks command, to survive only on that. The main reason Contreras was so successful early on was that whenever he had 2 strikes on the hitter, he was able to make the hitter chanse his forkball in the dirt for the K or weak groundout. He has to use his fastball to set up his forkball. We've seen him fall in love with it and in turn watch it get hammered. His fastball isn't bad, it's not bad at all and even with a decent forkball if he can throw a fastball for strikes he should dominate.
  6. Billy Botch Kotch is worth a mention. As well as Mike Jackson.
  7. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Dave Revsine wrote the White Sox piece. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it as well.
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) The AP recap of the game today (if you can even call it that) contains this little blurb about Uribe that I thought should be pointed out. Hopefully the rest will be good for Juan anyway...he needs something to get his swing shortened. That seems to be the solution for every hitter. I disagree in Juan's case, his swing is short he just swings too aggressively ... and even with that, I wouldn't tell him to tone it down. You may see the man drop another .040 points in the batting average by telling him to take more walks. Sometimes you simply get what you see.
  9. QUOTE(WookieOnRitalin @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) The guy had another 3 hit game tonight. He's hitting .406 on the season since being called up. 25 hits in 66 at bats. The guy is quite simply in a groove and I'm glad he's having success in Seattle, but too bad for the Pale Hose to lose a young player like that at a 'need' position in my mind. I don't know if he'll be able to stay this consistent, even to a .300 level at the major league level, but he is obviously doing something right. Another good prospect that slipped through the cracks I guess, but every organization has a few of those out there so its not really that bad. With Uribe, I don't consider SS a position of need. He's a young talented defender with a decent enough bat. It's hard to find SS's around the league that are better than Uribe, and if Mike Morse turns out to be better then so be it. Uribe is our guy, nor Morse and we currently have a record that Seattle would cream their pants over. Best of luck to Morse, here's to hoping he doesn't kill us in the future, but the man is a Mariner and not a White Sox.

    The channel called "off". It's a good channel, your TV doesn't make a sound and it's black all the time.
  11. Son of a b****. He was up like 16,000 votes last I checked.
  12. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) "Technical Support" at our local hospital.... also known as "Hit F5 on Soxtalk.com all night" If that were the case, I'd love that job. Mine is basically labor.
  13. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) He's gettin better...yes, but that's no reason to call people b****es. b****.
  14. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) 3rd shifter here too Bob....Been working 3rd in some fashion for about 7 years now, I love it. Driving home from work when everyone else in the normal working world is frantically trying to get to work...satisfying feeling I find it to be kind of depressing. What do you do?
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) Pure speculation on the wrighters part. Is that a joke?
  16. I just looked at the All-City team that the fans voted for so far and I knew we were stuffing the boxes, but what happened is downright hysterical. Shortstop Juan Uribe, White Sox (2,917 responses) Neifi Perez, Cubs (128 responses) Catcher A.J. Pierzynski, White Sox (2,802 responses) Chris Widger, White Sox (1,794 responses) Michael Barrett, Cubs (1,681 responses) Henry Blanco, Cubs (48 responses) First base Paul Konerko, White Sox (6,998 responses) Derrek Lee, Cubs (1,161 responses) Second base Tadahito Iguchi, White Sox (6,285 responses) Todd Walker, Cubs (72 responses) Third base Joe Crede, White Sox (1,806 responses) Aramis Ramirez, Cubs (172 responses) Left field Scott Podsednik, White Sox (40,508 responses) Jason Dubois, Cubs (11,717 responses) Todd Hollandsworth, Cubs 174 responses Center field Aaron Rowand, White Sox (60,867 responses) Corey Patterson, Cubs (298 responses) This gave me a good laugh. Keep it up!
  17. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) How about stop being an ass and read the announcement about sig sizes?
  18. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Dude I had a lot of problems, surgeries and all kinds of s***, I just didn't have much desire, not that I need to explain myself. I'm a fan, what's the difference? Kalapse, THANK YOU! Don't worry about some of the folks around here. New people get rough treatment, you have to build a reputation around here. Your question was valid, I had no problems with it and I welcome you back to the Sox fandom.
  19. I HATE YOU. Jerry Manuel was manager before the Oz took over.
  20. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) I'm with you on that one. But I'm sure the list is just for water cooler talk. No possible way to make an official list. "Royale with Cheese." Agreed, but some of these are awful lines. And some are awful lines from movies filled with memorable quotes.
  21. "La-dee-da, la-dee-da." That's what they picked from Annie Hall? Good god.
  22. "I'll show you the life of the mind!" - Barton Fink Where was that one?
  23. I think that's the worst list I've ever seen. They left a lot to be desired. They put "Plastics" from the Graduate ahead of, "Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me. Aren't you?".
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 06:11 AM) Apparently, this is an unusual situation for you. I'm sympathetic. What grown person should be getting off at 7 AM? I should be just showing up at 7 AM. I will continue my b****ing until the pit stains go away and the soreness in my legs and arms is completely gone.
