  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nobody's excited except you and SS71, and Uribe killed SS71's dog. There is no excitement here, the fact that Gonzalez is being signed for three years and a guaranteed fifteen million dollars makes me sick to my stomach. Nonetheless, it amuses me that in the last month Juan Uribe turns from the greatest thing since sliced bread to someone people are open about replacing with Alex Gonzalez. I suppose you do have your own blog on blogspot or blogger, so of course your opinion matters more than anyone else's, but it's interesting to note.
  2. What happened to all the Uribe love in the last month?
  3. I'd imagine the White Sox speculation is just that, speculation. Ozzie Guillen has come out and said that Alex Gonzalez is the best short stop in the game, dating back to his days in Florida. I'd imagine the author of that post on Rotoworld remembered Ozzie saying that and considered them as one of the potential suitors.
  4. Looking at Baldelli and declaring him a career this or career that is extremely premature. As wite pointed out, the kids only 25, he was hurt for one of his three years in the bigs, and he'll most likely be a damn good player when he enters his prime.
  5. Can MLBTraderumors.com please be banned? That website is just ridiculous. Yea, a deal is going to be struck in the first few days... Thought this was interesting: "1) He's one of the top five or 10 pitchers in the world. 2) He's only 26 and has many years ahead of him. 3) We have no idea how much of that $51.11 million is real money; it's very possible that Seibu will kick some of that in towards Matsuzaka's contract to make sure a deal gets done. 4) It's an extremely unique situation, where a guy this good, this young and with this track record goes on the open market with exclusive signing rights (as opposed to just becoming a free agent). So under those circumstances, yes, he's a $100 million pitcher. Imagine if Johan Santana were posted -- the money would be very similar. People are up in arms about the dollars, but the Red Sox have more money to spend than anybody but the Yankees. To compare it to a normal free agent, that's just silly, because it's apples and oranges." *** The Red Sox are in more of a position of power than I thought.
  6. Who cares if Aardsma throws hard, is it really a plus having four guys in the bullpen whose out pitch is bringing heat? The fact of the matter is the White Sox, had they been patient, could have gotten more for Cotts than they got here. I never thought I'd see the day, but regardless of the outcome here, it seems like the Cubs got the better of the deal. Ugh.
  7. He may not be worth McCarthy, but if teams are willing to part ways with players of Ervin Santana's talent, the Rays shouldn't give two s***s if they are laughed at in the process.
  8. Is there a reason why this hasn't been picked up at all?
  9. The Devil Rays won't trade Baldelli or Crawford to the White Sox unless McCarthy is involved. I love some of these White Sox prospects just as much as the next person. As any fan of there team will. Still, it's not happening unless McCarthy is involved.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 03:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that supposed to be convincing? Most GM's in baseball are complete morons, and you know that was well as I do. Their love for the gyroball only confirms to me how stupid this all is. Most GM's in baseball are complete morons. As if you'd be better off as some scouts, coaches, or general managers. That might be one of the stupidest things I've read over here. Whose love for the gyroball? What are you talking about? Every report I've read has said that the gyroball is a myth but that it won't matter because he has four plus pitches, including a devastating change-up as well as this forkball like pitch that some idiots call the gyroball.
  11. Romero was better against lefties last season than Walker was. Romero's a decent option out of the pen, but he's become an exclusive lefty specialist.
  12. Rotoworld: The Rays asked the Phillies about a Rocco Baldelli-for-Cole Hamels swap and were quickly turned down. Baldelli doesn't make as much sense for the Phillies anyway, as they don't need him as a center fielder. However, there will be plenty of interest in him if he's available. The Rays could potentially get Josh Johnson or Scott Olsen and additional young pitching from the Marlins or Ervin Santana from the Angels. Less likely possibilities would include Chad Billingsley of the Dodgers and Brandon McCarthy of the White Sox.
  13. Row, Could you give me ratings on some Boston College players? Mainly the returning players: Jared Dudley, Sean Marshall, Sean Williams, Tyrese Rice, Marquez Haynes, John Oates, Akida McClain.
  14. It's no rant, my man. It just is mind boggling why the Red Sox are so stupid when about 2/3's of the league put in a legitimate bid. Are the Red Sox stupid for understanding the appeal of such a high caliber player and bidding accordingly? I just don't really understand it. That's all.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 05:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First, you must be a total f***ing moron... after that the reasons are endless. Good explanation. Edit: Oh, the teachers a f***ing idiot. Ha. My bad, I thought you were saying I was f***ing idiot for asking the question, which doesn't seem like too outrageous of a question.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it sounds like a media outlet for a team just thinking up trades, BA is worth more than that, but to the marlins fans, they expect the world for fringe prospects, as does every fan. Its just a thought, nothing more. The Marlins are interested in every young and cheap center fielder on the market. Suggesting a decent middle infield prospect, where the White Sox have only Valido shouldn't be too far off considering how horrid Anderson was last season. Then again, I think Anderson is safe considering Kenny Williams shouldn't and won't trade him while his value is at rock bottom.
  17. Am I talking to a brick wall? Wite, I like you man, but this is going way over you head. How on earth are you going to add the posting fee into the payroll when it doesn't count as payroll? It makes zero sense to me. This is why I didn't want to continue with this nonsense. I guess I'll be counting the money the White Sox spent on renovations the last five years, as well as money spent on developing the farm, and all other moneys that don't belong included in the payroll included in the payroll. We're not going to agree on this, as I mentioned reading people's opinions of this matter is making us all more dumb. The Red Sox can be "stupid idiots" but I guess every other team in the Majors other than the White Sox that bid outrageous figures as well, only to miss out by a couple million dollars are.. lucky? By your knowledge, the White Sox are smart and every other team in baseball isn't. Blah Blah Blah.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just out of curiosity...anyone know if/how much the White Sox had to post for Iguchi? I believe Iguchi was a free agent meaning because he wasn't under contract with a team in Japan, the White Sox were able to sign him, just as they would any other free agent, all the while giving no compensation for him considering he changed leagues.
  19. If she looked like that, if I was just out of the womb I'd probably be the one instigating it all.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would the Sox spend $25-30 million when they have 6 starters as it is? The Red Sox are going to end up spending anywhere from $175-200 million this year, even if "only" $125-150 of it will be towards their payroll. How is that any different from the Yankees spending $200 million in payroll? Well. First of all, because you asked me directly, I'll respond. The White Sox are rumored to be shopping 2-4 of there starting pitchers. You can never have enough pitching, which is why spending a dollar amount like that to acquire Matsuzaka would be a good move, both on the field and off the field for the White Sox. Second of all, every time I hear someone say Masuzaka is costing $25M+ per year I wonder if I'm getting more stupid just by reading this thread. How will they be spending $175-200 million this year on the payroll? Do you count the White Sox changing there seats from blue to green at the Cell in this payroll? Or how about the White Sox signing Joe Borchard to a record setting deal.. does that count towards the payroll? Last time I checked green seats weren't 1 of the 25.
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, they could probably tell that you couldn't understand why they'd want you.... Now that I think about it, there were only 1-2 teachers I had over my career that I found attractive. It's probably for the better that one of those dark, old witches never came after me. That would be traumatizing.
  22. http://www.kgw.com/news-local/stories/kgw_..._.1ea1e06a.html For you ladies, what might be the appeal of having sex with a student? Perhaps the same rush somebody gets from breaking the law? I just don't get it really, it's not like most of these women would have trouble finding a man to sleep with, and even if they were into kids, how come they never called my name to stay after class to help clean up?
  23. Excellent song. It seems to be a rather popular question of late. Enjoy.
