  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) LOL, Jeremy Reed has played in 91 games, therefore the trade was worth it. He is hitting .252, 2 HR, 34 RBI, and he has hit 1 for his last 19. Im thinking this is not what Sox fans thought they were giving away and this is definitely not what Seattle thought they were getting. While Olivo has obviously not been a success Reed and Morse have been great for the Mariners...Reed started the season slow with the bat but his defense has been amazing this year and I think already he is one of the top defensive CF's in the league. And he is starting to hit the ball better now and he does have 30 walks which is pretty good especially being a rookie Morse has been dynamite for them and is hitting like .325ish and has done nothing but hit since being with the mariners. All that being said we have a ton of OF talent in our minors so losing Reed wasnt that big of a deal and I think Valido has a chance to be a great future ss and love watching Uribe there anyways.... The hardest part of the trade was a lot of people were emotionally attached to Olivo because we all assumed he was going to be with us for a long time and he was rather fun to watch play.
  2. For the first time I saw the Shawshank Redemption the other night and Im guessing a lot of you have seen it but for those who havent... Id say you should see it for sure very very good movie.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Don't forget Corwin Malone. I think Corwin Malone has a much better chance of turning his career around than Ryan Wing.... Although both of them arent what you call likely candidates to make the big leagues... I still have some faith in Malone from how BHam has talked about him.
  4. When do the rosters expand??? Anyways It seems that Cotts and Vizcaino more than anyone have been used a lot... Vizcaino has pitched 51 innings already and I think he would be better if he wasnt used so often... Also the last 2 years Politte has thrown 51 and 49 innings... in fact the highest he has ever had in his career has been was 73 innings but that was split between 2 teams after that next highest is 59 innings..... and Politte is already at 43 innings so I dont want to overwork him for sure. Hermy as we all know has those back problems so the more rest he gets the better even though when healthy he can handle a lot of innings Marte we never know what were getting and unlike Cotts, Hermy, and Politte you dont really want to throw in there in a close game. THan finally Jenks has been alright except for that explosion in Oakland... but with his kind of arm and with his past I think he shouldnt be used much. Kind of eased into the majors. basicly another bullpen arm wouldnt be such a bad idea especially since Ozuna and Blum can both play all around the field practically.
  5. Although spoiled I guess from acquiring Garcia last year and than even Robbie Alomar and Everett(who was much better) the year b4 I expected KW to make a big move. But after hearing the demanding prices I think KW did the right thing although I still hope we can add a bullpen arm.
  6. The only bad thing about Oakland is they seem to have Buehrle's number... Although on the same token Garland has been offely good vs them.... I have a 5 game series played out vs them in my head. Game 1: Buehrle vs Zito 5-2 A's Game 2: Garland vs Harden 3-2 Sox Game 3: Garcia vs Haren 4-1 Sox Game 4: El Duque vs Zito/Blanton... this game i cant predict havent seen Duque in postseason and dont know if A's choose to go back to Zito or risk it with Blanton if Game 5: Buehrle vs Zito/Harden... I see Buehrle giving it all he has and fetching home a white sox winner. I guess its a little dangerous to make predictions so early but im convinced the A's are for real and I think Angels will be able to hold the division...Btw I had Garcia starting game 3 because that will be on the road where he is his best.
  7. the return of Honel... or at least I hope so
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) 8.1 IP is not a chance. Its not a fair chance but it is a chance....Its more of a chance than many other players ever get from the minors.
  9. Although Oakland has owned us during the reg season the past 4 years I wouldnt mind seeing them in the playoffs... Id rather see twins but we wont see them anyways if they win wildcard.... the prob team that can do very good in the playoffs is Angels... thats the team im scared of.
  10. I was perfectly happy with the trade.....We didnt really mess with the chemestry since only losing willie and gload... and blum is like an upgrade of Ozuna..... Also the prospect we lost is nothing big... he is way down the list
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) I think we'll see Dalembert perform adequately well enough without Jim O' Brien on the sidelines. 15 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks a game is what I expect. Than your expecting 2 much
  12. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 04:03 AM) Wow A.J. Burnett, that's high standards LOL. :rolly Kenny isn't giving these guys away. He's going to at least get a Burnett or better if he's dealing any top tier prospects. Well I mean a top player available as in Burnett, Wagner, Guardado, Huff... that type of player.
  13. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 06:42 AM) Id love to have dunn here but I dont think he would go over well here seeing that he is basiclly a paul konerko. Nah he is far from a Konerko... for one he has some pretty good speed... much more power and walks more.
  14. I love looking ahead... but remembering how long last off-season was lets wait for this until we either clinched since than we will have some time to talk hopefully or after the season is over.
  15. The only 2 guys I think are absolutely untouchable are Jenks and Young. Other than that there a bunch of guys Id wouldnt want dealt in a deal for an avg. player but if it involved like a Burnett type player it would be fine.
  16. Sandberg is a good player but I wouldnt really call him HOF material..... sure his fielding percantage was awesome but if you play such a small range it should be damn good.
  17. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) I'm surprised Barajas didn't kick Samme's ass. Didnt Barajas get in a fight with Kenny Rogers earlier this year.... He fights his teamates but not his enemies?
  18. 2 bad for the twins.... although this almost ruins the twins chance of ever catching up to us... Torri was like their Frank Thomas even if it doesnt show up in his personnel stats all the time.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) I wasn't debating the time.. I was stating my opinion that it's both classless no matter how long or short. I never said anything about the time, or the treatment. And i wasnt debating if it was classless or not I was saying what they did was by far worse and you kept saying how that point is stupid which I have no clue why.
  20. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) he injured it in training camp, meaning he played on a bad knee. Ok but he was fine his 2nd season and that was his best year.... and it was significantly worse than Briggs 2nd year.
  21. Something to note though is that if he played in any other park for his home games he prob would of had some HR's by now....Despite that I think him and Chris Young should both start the year in AA for the first half at least.
  22. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:14 AM) f*** b mac... from watching him, he wont ever be anything in the MLB... hes afraid to throw his change and he sucks. Im glad we judge a guy that you probably no very little about.......
  23. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:25 AM) Harris had a bad right knee all last season and missed 3 games, so when you consider that his numbers last year look better, don't they? No..... and considering his 2nd season was his best and still worse than Briggs 2nd year.... and all you had to do is look at the post to see he only missed 2 games.
  24. this thread has officially gone down the s*** hole from sandwiches
