I thought it was a little funny, but the devil guy might get annoying in the long run but it was funny how the guys just left him there on his back at the end.

well thats the point, there are a lot more OF's in baseball than 3B, therefore its easier to find good OF's because of there being so many.. 3B on the other hand, there is only a handful of them that are good... and than if you are looking for a complete 3B fielding and hitting well Chavez and Rolen are really the only ones that are great both ways. Beltre is good fielder but who knows if he was a fluke and I think Blalock has the upside to be great on both sides but he isnt right now and anyways no way in hell he is traded.
-
Graves went downhill because he lost all the bite on his fastball, Also unlike Cruz who has no control B-Mac has great control which is a big reason that im for this.
-
I think its easier to get good hitting OF's though than it is 3B... List of good hitting 3B: Mora Chavez Beltre(although might be a fluke) Blalock Chipper Aramis Ramirez Rolen Glaus(not good hitter but has power) and Chavez and Rolen are way ahead of any of those guys fielding wise.... I would include A-Rod in the list but he would be a SS on any other team besides the yankees so...

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 25, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) I'd like to see his fastball get faster unless he starts pulling the strings like Shingo. Well let's hope the Sox organization makes the right decision and puts him back in AAA. Here's two examples of relievers used as spot starters and starting the next year or started that same year that I could think of. Buehrle - Did good Juan Cruz - failed so far Danny Haren - failed so far Jon Adkins - failed so far Wilson Alvarez(though he's already older) - decent, but he's already older; just threw him in there so people don't think I'm trying to be biased Danny Graves - failed I can't think of anymore right now, but so far most of them failed. well, Cruz has the stuff but he has no control which is a big part, Haren has been the starter for Oakland, Adkins isnt good, Alvarez did pretty good last year doing that, Graves was a good closer last year he just lost his stuff. This is how i like to look at it, Buehrle was used as a RP and so was Garland... And now they are our top 2 pitchers so thats a good sign.

If I had my way we would put El Duque in the pen, that would save his arm and give us a great bullpen arm as well, But there is no way in hell El Duque will agree to go to the bullpen so thats just a pipe dream.

Best yet to come for White Sox ace Garland
GoodAsGould replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wouldnt label El Duque as ace... he has been very effective so far but he has been hit pretty hard even with the low era and than an ace has to go more than what 2.2 innings :puke Buehrle and Garland = Aces Garcia, Contreras, and El Duque = solid 2's thats rating them on how they have done on this season so far. -
I wouldnt necessarily say Lee is a better hitter... Chavez is slumping right now but he will get going he is awesome, also he is way more talented with the glove than Lee ever was... Chavez is probably 2nd best fielding 3B behind Rolen... I still remember last year or whatevr when Chavez was sitting down and he threw a guy out at 1st.

QUOTE(Wedge @ May 25, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Many considered the A's to have three aces: Hudson, Mulder, and Zito. If you're going to be giving Zito the ace tag, then I think Buehrle at the very least deserves it as well. Zito was an ace... i dont think anyone considers him one anymore really. -
I played the game twice... my 2nd time I hit 29, it took me to get 8 outs to get on a roll where i hit like 6-8 in a row b4 9th out

QUOTE(beck72 @ May 25, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) you should turn in for tonight's game. Washburn is due to get lit up, their 2 top bullpen guys have been used, and the Angels aren't hitting. That one guy threw like 11 pitches and Shields can go everyday... so they are still available.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 25, 2005 -> 05:48 AM) Probably the best pitcher in all of the minors. I saw him throw a game this spring and all I could say is WOWZERS. If he stays healthy and improves his control...the guy will win a cy young or two. Idonno that Adam Miller dude in the tribes system could give him a run for his money.. But yeah Felix Hernandez is what you call a future cy young winner.
-
I still wish he resigned with us, I know he kind of sucked last year but he is a legitimate number 1 starter to go along with Buehrle.
-
I think Gio is one of those untouchable guys too, the guys talent is amazing... unless he suffers a major setback he can be a tremendous major leaguer.
-
when he is talking about clutch hits he means Crede provides a spark in our offense in the late innings like 8th and 9th... which is true.. Crede really shines at the end... 2 bad he sucks the first 6-7 innings.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 25, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) I'll tell you what I would do. I would Trade BMAC, Anderson, Sweeney, etc for Roger Clemens right now, and pay his salaryl. Your crazy, first of all Clemens just pulled a groin and being his age health is always a ?... 2nd no way in hell we pay 18 million for 1 year use of a guy, 3rd that would make our minors beyond pathetic... Also remember Clemens wasnt that great back when he was in the AL, part of him being so great in the NL is most of hitters havent seen him much while everyone in the AL has seen him plenty.
-
Good thing is even though the next pitcher we face is doing good... he is no where near as dominant as Zambrano, Prior, and Colon... and doesnt have the "stuff" that the santana kid had. Bad thing is Rowand grounded out to SS for the 2nd time when Pods has been at 3B, than a course he hits a deep fly out his next ab, he needs to learn how to hit depending on the situation. Also the offense as a whole needs to score some runs because this is getting downright pathetic.
-
Yeah Felix Hernandez is a stud... He pitched a game against us in spring training if i remember correctly and I think we hit him pretty well... regardless he is a future ace.
-
no way in hell the A's trade Harden.... he is young cheap and a stud.... there is already Cy Young talk about him......
-
Gio is back from the DL isnt he? it seems like he hasnt pitched forever.. I know he made at least 1 start since his DL stint right?
-
Im not a Crede hater.... I try to be positive with the guy if for nothing else I like seeing guys succeed that come up through our minors... but to the point he just isnt getting it done at 3B and I think Randa would offer a huge offensive boost and like I said would be a stop gab for Fields... so it would give Fields this year and next year to be ready for the bigs. A course if there is something else that could be done that you have in mind... what exactly would you do with Crede... I think its time for us to give up on him ever being even an average hitter in the big leagues.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ May 25, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) So what do you do with Crede? You're suggesting trading Crede to Cincinnati for Randa, not following your logic ... ? Well KW is in the win now mode isnt he? So whose going to help us win more... Randa or Crede? Obviously Randa even at 37 is the better ball player right now and will get us 1 step closer to being a better team. Like I said Crede has done nothing but suck since being in the majors... he had that short stretch this year but most part he hits at the .200 level.... You guys are way over-valueing Crede at this point... but if what you say is true and crede is more valuable... than fine have them throw someone else in too, the point is to get Randa.
-
I dont think Townsend is a Boras client but one thing i read about him is his fastball is very straight which could be trouble because a straight fastball that isnt upper 90's will get smashed in the majors.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) Just as crazy is the White Sox giving up Joe Crede straight up for Joe Randa, let alone sending the Reds another player. Crede has way way way more trade value than Randa. Why would the Reds want Crede long term anyway? He's under control for one more year, thru 2006, and I think then he's eligible for FA and his agent is Boras. They have Randa under control thru 2006 anyways. Reds may end up dumping Randa but it'd be for a lot less than Joe Crede. Not to mention Randa will be 36 later this year while Crede is 27. Except the point of getting Randa is to be a stop gap for Fields... and at this point I dont think Crede has much value.... certainly not as much as some of you think it to be.

QUOTE(doUrememberwhen @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) Thank God he can miss 40 yarders for someone else for a while. He might actually be pretty good at home for them.... Its a lot easier to kick field goals there than it is in Chicago.
