  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) And it doesn't mean as much when you're prematurely trading it away and getting nothing in return. Now I give the Sox credit for Danks/Floyd. But that was 6 years ago. The whitesox rotation is solid 1-5 so they seemingly know what they are doing, now personally I'd fire everyone involved with developing and scouting hitters.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Nope. The thrashing is well-deserved. Churning out relievers, while important, is not nearly as impressive as producing starting pitching and position players. Chris sale, Clayton Richard, gio Gonzalez, brandon mccarthy, and Daniel hudson... The whitesox can draft and develope pitching. It's hitting they have no idea what to do with.
  3. Well we had 4 games of good managing, it was a nice run!
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 09:00 AM) With the way the Indians have been drawing, it's a wonder they can afford any of these guaranteed long-term deals. But they really have no choice if they want to operate their organization in a financially viably and competitive way in the future. It's hard to believe that their attendance in the 90's was best in the majors in terms of sellouts.....
  5. QUOTE (High Mileage @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 02:49 AM) I think the bullpen will be fine. Losing Soria blows, of course, but we have 3-4 guys who could take his place. It's Broxton's job to lose, but if he sucks or gets hurt, then Greg Holland should get a shot. If he fails, then there's Crow. And then Louis Coleman. I wouldn't be against Tim Collins getting a shot either but hopefully it won't go that far. I think there is a really good chance Soria we won't see Soria in a Royals' uniform. They have an $8 million option on him for next year, and this is his second Tommy John surgery. The rotation will be the real issue. Bruce Chen Luke Hochevar Jonathan Sanchez Danny Duffy Luis Mendoza Felipe Paulino Crow doesn't seem reliable to me whenever I watch but Holland is a nice arm. The rest I think is your Royals optimism goggles on....
  6. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 01:11 AM) Imagine that Cepedes guy sandwiched between him and Konerko Sox management really blew that one. Now he's playing to crowds of 16k in Oakland. Why don't you wait till he has played 4 games before you say Sox management blew that one......
  7. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) Ole Brent Morel, he is having himself an Opening Day The guy probably biggest reason we might lose this game.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 5, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) I mean, I saw Woody talking to the rich looking guy and shaking his hand, but that to me, made it seem like Woody was using his money/fame/charisma to get someone to give something to Katniss/Peeta, not that they did anything to actually earn it. Which is what I mean by it seems that the whole "be likeable and you will get stuff" didn't really show up in the movie because Woody was able to get what he wanted anyway. I don't know, it just bothered me that it played such a small or background role when they made it seem like sponsors were the reason anyone can survive. I was imagining weapons, food rations, camo, tents, and other important stuff being dropped to them, not just a can of vasoline and a bowl of soup. Without the medicine they both would have died, if anything those probably cost more money than many standard weapons.
  9. I never noticed how terrible the Cubs lineup was until today...... thank god I won't be watching that the entire season.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 5, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) Well then they did a terrible job portraying that in the film then, because it seems like a rather large plot hole. I don't know about that, I went with 3 friends who never read the book and they figured the packages were from sponsors, think you just missed it.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 5, 2012 -> 09:39 AM) I thought the fact that the dogs were the departed contestants was idiotic and stupid, in the book. Why? I thought it added to the idea of how disgusting the government in the Capitol is and shows how little they value people in the districts if the Hunger Games wasn't enough an insult.
  12. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 4, 2012 -> 12:41 AM) I don't get the Camby, Chandler, or Okafor comparison at all. For one, Davis is way more athletic than Camby is/was, he's got better basketball IQ and bigger hands than Chandler, and Okafor is more bulkier and less mobile than Davis. And Davis is more of a 4 than a 5. Davis has similar build, athleticism, and style of game to a young KG. I am not surprised if he turns out to be a poor man's KG as soon as 3 years down the road. Camby has been in the league for a long time, I don't think you remember how he was when entering the NBA. Not too mention Davis game is more similar to Camby's than Garnetts as well....
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 2, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) Giving Betty cancer and killing her off wouldn't be the worst thing for Mad Men. She brings the show down so much. Did Betty's husband say Romney is an idiot during the first phonecall when they thought Betty's doctor was calling.... if so that's not very subtle.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) No amount of coaching offsets 8-23 shooting He has a jump shot, in fact the best 3pt % on the team. He also wont face 7' defenders in the NBA, he will be against guys like Boozer. He will be a good not great player, with skills in the post and in the pick and pop. Thats about it. He also played almost the whole season with plantar facitis. That keeps alot of pros out for the season. Sullinger isn't going to be much of a pro imo, maybe similar to the worn down version of Elton Brand we seen last few seasons.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 06:38 PM) That's not at all what he's saying. It's what you're saying he's saying, but it's not what he's actually saying. And to get a guilty verdict, it actually *does* take quite a bit of hard evidence to present "beyond a reasonable doubt". OJ walked with much better "neatly wrapped" evidence...but how soon we forget. The media/public also convicted the kids from, what was it, the Duke Lacrosse team, with nothing other than circumstantial evidence and speculation...and how'd that work out? All he's asking for is people stop using nothing more than speculation to convict someone that hasn't even been charged of anything yet...and we all get it...something went awry with the law here...but it IS the law, irregardless of how we personally feel about it. It actually doesn't take much to get a guilty verdict....
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 04:01 PM) Add me to the group that knew this was fake instantly. I mean, OMG WUT!?!? I think I got fooled my first year at soxtalk but since its happened every year and this one wasn't even very creative i yawned when seeing the title.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 06:27 PM) How dare I want a person convicted of murder only if the evidence proves it. You seem like one of those people who watch too much csi and think everything is so neatly wrapped up for the prosecutor to get a guilty verdict.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) But we have a pretty good counter-example on why this profiling is dumb: Trayvon Martin. And besides, Trayvon put his hood up after being stalked by Zimmerman. That seems kind of dumb to me, with the hood on you only limit your vision more..
  19. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 02:08 AM) Illini Fans= Illinois State Fans =
  20. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 12:54 AM) You do know they beat the Heat without Rose. Right, which was one of the reasons I feel like they could be the 2nd seed even without Rose... maybe if not 2nd in the top 4. But cmon we have no chance vs the Heat in a series no Rose.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) The Pacers would also put at least 2 players down with injuries, that would be very tough. Yeah, I think the series would be tough but it's kind of sad that both the Heat and Bulls could lose their best player and very easily still remain the 2 best teams in the conference....
  22. I feel like the Bulls even without Rose can beat anyone in the East except the Heat obviously. The only team that might give them trouble would be Orlando.
  23. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 08:13 PM) haha how did you even find that? Been posted on yahoo and other sites about people making racist comments with the characters.
  24. QUOTE (gatnom @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) If there were any doubt about the coaching search being an embarrassment before, I think this erases it. Sounds like the Board of Trustees would only be satisfied with the hiring process if they hired a black candidate. That's not racist or anything. Yeah, between this and the football coach hiring process do these schmucks they are being racist by pushing for the coach to be African American? I mean, I understand the want for them to have the Illini seriously consider candidates no matter what ethnicity they are, but to push for a minority coach just for the sake of having one is disgusting... this coming from a minority.
  25. A little off topic but doesn't it seem that these new stories that go viral seemingly come from Florida more than any other state. Have this case, the Casey Anthony case, and the case a few years ago about who had custody to pull a woman off life support cant remember names. That's just off the top of my head too.
