QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 18, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) He's not playing, I'd rather they shut him down until after the AS break. Sloppy start by the Bulls...where's Stacy? Why does Boozer think they turnaround fadeaway is a shot he is good at? -
QUOTE (Greyone @ Feb 18, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Exactly, the Bears need about four new OL/DL, need to start thinking about younger LB/CB, on top of needing about two or three new WR, and working on a new deal for Forte and Cutler eventually. Making a one for one trade is not a smart thing to do right about now. 4 new OL/DL? The only questionable spots on both is a LT and a DE.... that is only 2 new members. Can't see anyway we bring in more than 2 WR's that would see any playing time either.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Feb 18, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) I could easily seeing the Bears wanting Wallace over their #1 pick. Wallace would be a huge pick up for any team. I would not be a big fan, there are a lot of F/A WR's that are better than Wallace even, no reason to go for him and lose our draft pick.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 18, 2012 -> 02:19 AM) Had the 92 Dream Team chosen Shaq over Laettner its arguable that they had a top 3 all time player at every position. I dont really think NBA players are better today, they may have more toned muscles, but muscles dont make shots. Right, obviously Lebron is a better athlete by far compared to anyone in the 90's..... but that same statement is true compared to anyone playing today. -
First episode of Awake is on Hulu.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) The only problem with this statement is the fact that Melo isn't playing tonight. Knicks might start being a legit team, found a way to come together without their 2 stars, now they getting both back and adding a solid player in JR Smith. I don't think they can beat Bulls or Heat but maybe can become that 3rd team. -

Celtics can't beat a team missing 2 starters including 1 being far and away the best player on the team, has to be rough knowing your team is old and has no shot in the playoffs. Besides Rondo that team has nothing on it building towards a better future too. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) yeah, I can't see Gilbert being so forgiving. If it meant getting Lebron back in Cleveland probably for the rest of his career, I think he could be -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) That value would be killed if you were losing tons of money with no hope of fixing the issue. Eh the Marlins and Pirates proved if you really want to make money put nothing into the roster and you profit... after a few years they'd be able to do that.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 12:55 PM) Nothing about the financial situations of these two franchises is similar to what is being seen in Florida. You are talking about two historically major MLB franchises. Two original NL cornerstones, both of which have long histories drawing big crowds to their stadiums. Even with the disaster that the Dodgers were under McCourt, they drew 2.935 million fans last year, marking the first time they were under 3 million fans since 2000. The Marlins have one year over three million in their HISTORY. 1993. Even if their last WS year they were at 1.3 million fans. They haven't been over two million fans since 1997. The Cubs haven't had an attendance mark as low as the Marlins 2.3 million they drew for their last WS title in 1997 since 1997. They haven't been under 3 million fans since 2003. There is nothing similar about these teams situations. You are taking teams that have historically drawn tons of fans and applying somewhere they has never drawn fans. You arent taking into account being part of an elite group of 30 owners of a major league baseball club. A huge part of the value of a franchise is being part of that club over the actual profit you make from it.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 11, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) I was in college working at Suncoast Video. We couldn't keep those Phantom Menace posters in stock. Started selling the life size cutouts as well. Darth Maul was the most popular which is odd since he didn't last in the series long. He really was a badass though, its a shame he couldn't of made more than 1 movie.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 11, 2012 -> 11:55 AM) Well not in my book, or anyone I talk baseball with. You talk baseball in Kansas City?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 11, 2012 -> 08:18 AM) I don't hate Lin whatsoever, I just think that a tremendous amount of perspective has been lost in his small time in a Knick uniform. ESPN is now touting the Knicks as a title contender again because Lin lit up the Jazz, Wizards, Nets and Lakers. That is 3 lottery teams and a Lakers team that has completely lost its identity. Come on now, last night Magic Johnson said that he is a cross between Steve Nash and John Stockton. Are you f***ing serious? 4 games in the NBA after 2 years in the NBDL and all the sudden he is a cross between 2 of the top 50-75 players in NBA history? Hubie Brown couldn't stop gushing about his amazing court vision but didn't have much to say about his turnovers. Yes, the way the kid has come out guns blazing is very impressive, but I very much agree that we are seeing a player that hasn't been looked at too much on tape by opposing coaches and there will be an adjustment coming that will probably change the way he plays the game. Remember Brandon Jennings huge run early last season that included a 55 point game? There was a lot of chatter about how good he was during that streak, and he ended up fading like Steve9347's stonewashed jeans(I know you wear them steve. Don't lie) Plus, as previously mentioned, once Melo comes back Lin isn't gonna be putting up 20 shots anymore. I prefer reading articles and opinions that can compliment the kid without the headline "Lin Dynasty OMGZ!!!!!!!". That's all Apparently you don't watch much of the NBA since Jennings is having a great season and had a legit case to make the all star game. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) Preposition dang spelling error on my part,

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 04:13 PM) No you didn't. Of?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) Knox averaged 18.8 and 19.6 yards per reception under Martz... which looks great but it's because he really is incapable of running routes shorter than about 12 yards. He runs the vertical routes and that's about it. If he has to break then he'll either round it off or he'll slip and fall (Cutler blamed of course for being interception-prone) I wouldn't say he's worthless but he's not that big of a loss if he can't play next year either. I'm not saying he is all pro or anything like that but he definitely has value to a team. Definitely has his flaws but he is a much better WR than Hester and anything that keeps Hester away from WR is a bonus in itself..... Ideally we would bring in a F/A WR and draft one but hard to predict with a new GM.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) Yeah, in this one small instance in this one play you are drawing up, sure. Let the guy run fast down the field to catch the ball. Other than that, he is worthless. Someone that got over 700 yards and 900 yards the last 2 seasons is far from worthless..... Knox has many flaws but he would be fine as a 3rd WR, Bennett would be in the slot when they'd have 3 receivers on the field.

Safe to say at the very least this season and next we will not be getting their pick in upcoming draft, can only hope Bobcats continue to suck after that. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) What's the consensus on Chronicle from those who have seen it? Sorry, late to the thread after 3 weeks travelling. Seems to be a director with a ton of promise who operated without CGI but managed to jam in about 5-10 "how the hell did they do that?" moments. The last half of the movie...felt like a superhero becomes villain story arch. If nothing else, it was very creative and original, and blows much more expensive flicks like I Am Number 4 or Percy Jackson out of the water. My big issue with it is it seemed very rushed once everything started to go towards a darker path. They also don't explain a lot of things and makes me wonder if there is going to be a sequel and what possibly could they do besides a similar story all over again.

I don't care to argue if Bonds record is legitimate or not but the article does a pretty poor job at it. Ruth didn't have control over who played the game it wasn't his rule non-white athletes weren't allowed in the game and Ted Williams didn't choose to setup Fenway Park the way it is and back than F/A wasn't what it was today. Bonds chose to use steroids to give himself an advantage, now I don't know how much they help but still he chose the action and knew it was illegal, something Ruth or Williams weren't guilty of. I'm aware I ended sentences with propositions.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) Both Williams and Carimi had injury concerns when they were drafted so those are big misses in that regard although I think Carimi will be good. Sounds like Bates will push for a New England type short passing game. I think Lovie retires after next year. Tice takes the HC job and Bates gets the OC job after a nice 10-6 season. There is no way Lovie retires and if he does I don't think Tice has a chance at all to become the next head coach.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 8, 2012 -> 08:39 AM) I think spending big money on free agents is usually a bad idea. You cant be the Redskins about it but to ignore free agency is also ridiculous.... where would we be without Peppers?
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 01:40 PM) Why do people think that Marshall is available for trade? Today Marshall was quoted that the Dolphins should trade for Cutler... “Maybe down the road, we may have some extra picks, and we may be able to trade for him,” Marshall said. “But we have a quarterback in place in Matt Moore. He did an amazing job [in the] second half of the season, and where we go from there we’ll see. But Jay is a special talent, and he’s a great friend.” Neither is likely to happen but of the two Marshall is easier much more likely to be traded. Cutler is in Chicago for the next few years unless we fire Lovie Smith and hire Josh McDaniels.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) There is ONE show and its Glee, which is terrible. Just the worst. I hate it with a passion. It in no way represents the reality of "theatre people". Smash does - which is cool to watch. I will admit that those not in the theatre industry may not give a s*** one way or the other. I watched it and enjoyed it, I have a feeling the gay guy is going to be a really annoying character though and hopefully he has only a small role going forward.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) If somehow we do trade for Howard, I'm going to miss Noah a lot. I was not a fan of the draft pick at the time, but Noah is just so awesome in every way.
