  1. Stealing/changing a line from Shawshank: "Get busy winning. Or get busy losing. That's damn right."
  2. Anytime the Sox want to pitch inside on these guys, it's OK by me. What's with the constant nibbling on the outside corner to the Twins? And when did J.J. Hardy turn into friggin' Godzilla?!?
  3. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 05:12 PM) Dammit I want a freaking demoralizing blowout. I wanna put up about 20 runs on these bastards and shut them down. I mean like in May 2009 when they beat us 20-1. I wanna put that kind of ass whuppin on them. Oh and a bench clearing brawl would be nice too. This! Kill these muthaf@ckers! Let's go Freddy!
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) You cant win that suit, thats why they print that warning on the tickets. Good luck buddy. Think the prick wants a quick cash settlement, hope MLB and the Mets stick to their guns and fight this in court.
  5. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Pierre lf Lillibridge cf Konerko 1b Quentin rf Kotsay dh Ramirez ss Pierzynski c Viciedo 3b Beckham 2b Danks Awww hell, if Ozzie has to play him, couldn't he at least start Kotsay in RF and put CQ in the DH slot? Christ, CQ would try going through the warehouse to catch a flyball, let Kotsay do it.
  6. Edwin's definitely got the stuff to be more than a 5th starter. Just gotta throw some more strikes with his offspeed stuff and he could be Peavy Part II.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) Rotoworld saying Inge may play tonight. If Inge plays, Jackson better be busting him inside.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) We should platoon Carlos and Dayan at DH, let Jones and Teahen platoon in RF, keep Lilli on the bench, and tell Kotsay to catch Threets' turf toe for a few weeks til the rosters expand... I agree with everything except the platoon at DH, CQ is a guy you ride when he's on fire. Think you meant platoon Tank with Vizquel at 3B, right?
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) I'm going to give the Gold Glove award one last shot. If Lexi doesn't get it, the award is dead to me forever. Usually, it's based on Offensive numbers and he's even beating Jeter in those categories as well! No excuses, Alexei should win this, hands down.
  10. Heard this on Boers/Bernstein and they thought it be might be Carl Crawford coming here with Dunn going to the Rays in a 3 way. Take it for what it's worth but Crawford would fit Ozzie's ideal ballplayer.
  11. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) 2009, the Sox ended with an average game attendance (tickets sold) of 28,199. 2008, it was 30,877 2007, it was 33,140 2006, it was 36,511 Right now, the average is 25,662 with 32 more home games to go. That means, they'll need to average 32,083 per game for the rest of the way to avoid a 4th straight year of attendance dropoffs. During this 3 game home series vs Seattle, they have averaged 30,007 per night. (incl the massive 38,815 showing on Monday) To help, they've got a 3 game home weekend Series vs the Yankees that I'm sure will be a 100% sellout, along with a 4 game home series vs the Red Sox forthcoming. Only 25500+ were in the house last night? Park looked more full than that, as does tonight's game. This weekend's attendance should boost the average up big time with some nice weather and a competitve team in the A's.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) I'll go to my grave saying that if Rob Mackowiak hadn't played CF for the 2006 Sox after June 1, 2006, that Sox team makes the playoffs. I can't prove it in the stats, so don't ask me to. But every bloody game, every time there was a big inning, one of the first 2 runners on got there on a misplay by Mack, or the biggest hit came on a ball Anderson would have caught. Every time he played in CF he was worth 2 runs and 25 extra pitches on the starter. I'm with Balta on this one. I still can see Mack not getting to a ball multiple times, costing our staff extra pitches and leading to a complete breakdown on that end in '06. The part I still don't understand to this day is Ozzie why stuck with BA while he hit .150 the first 3 months (While playing stellar defense), then when BA finally showed signs of life, Ozzie benched him for Mackowiak.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:47 PM) Well of course they'd rather do that, but the price would be higher. But Ramirez could play for them now, unlike Teahen who won't be there till Aug. Dombrowski insures his own firing with a trade for Teahen.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) A 90+ win team, a pennant race, some really exciting baseball, and a team that was a couple of Mackowiak benchings from a playoff team. In my opinion, 2006 was prolly Ozzie's worst yr managing. To bench good defense (BA) for another bat in the lineup full of 6 guys that hit 30 HRs each made no damn sense. I can still see bloopers dropping in front of Mackowiak and Freddy having the WTF face.... And keeping with the topic, move Gordo up to 6th and drop Kotsay (the Mackowiak move of 2010) to 9th. Vizquel is still a pain in the ass to opposing pitchers from the 2 hole so let's keep that going.
  15. QUOTE (ICP! @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Its more about having Andruw in there just so Kotsay will not be in the lineup then. Agree 100%. Would rather have the better glove in the field (Jones) than the porous bat in the lineup (Kotsay). Plus, I'm sure Alex Rios doesn't mind having a competent fielder next to him either.
  16. Good God, I know Buehrle's not much around home plate but hell, the home plate umpire doesn't have to be a lazy f*** calling strikes either.
  17. When the Sox come up twice on this guy, they'll get to him. That is, if Buehrle can keep the Royals at bay.
  18. While the 11 game streak is over, the series one is not. The Sox have won 6 straight series, let's make it 7 starting tonight
  19. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Replay shows Lee had no chance of catching Piere's line drive double. I don't think Zambrano went after Lee initially but when Lee told him to STFU (He's clearly saying that to Carlos on the replay), Zambrano then turned his rage toward Lee. I'm with Stoney, that'd been a good fight between those two.
  20. This umpire crew for today blows. Santos is getting squeezed badly here, he's not missing by much.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2010 -> 06:21 PM) Giving up a HR to Damon early in the game in Comerica... Sigh. So much for the gameplan of nipping at the wide corners this ump was giving Porcello in the top half. Freddy's floating junk over the heart of the plate right now. Oy
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 18, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) great called 3rd strike to Rios. That call blew, that pitch was a foot outside. Hopefully, AJ and Freddy exploit the wide plate then.
  23. Wimpy and Farmio actually sounded pretty coherent, insightful and entertaining, unlike the usual broadcasts. Big Hurt sounded a tad awkward and doesn't know when to be quiet at times but I liked his spot-on-analysis of situations. Very weird but positive broadcasting indeed!
  24. My white jersey has Frank's name/number, my grey one's got my last name and yr I became a Sox fan. I don't have a black jersey but if I bought one, I'd get Buehrle on it. Bought my stuff from Triple Threat so they're reasonable and have lots of patches u can add to the sleeves if you want. Have the World Series patches on both. Hope that helps!
  25. Mistake #1) Reading Phil Rogers. The guy knows nothing about baseball. Mistake #2) Trading away Vazquez (A notorious good pitcher with bad teams/notorious bad pitcher with good teams) and Nick Swisher, who Dwayne Wise was starting ahead in the playoffs last yr weren't mistakes. Enuff said.
