  1. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 03:29 AM) It's our fault, not theirs. The Twins are the ones we should thank for exposing our one-dimensional anti-playoff baseball prior to 2005 that led us into a WS-winning overhaul. Unfortunately we seem to have slipped back into that 2003 mindset. It's a myth we won in '05 with smallball. We won because of awesome pitching and hitting HRs (200 hit in '05). And I thank the Twins for absolutely nothing other than looking like world-beaters against us and looking average against everyone else.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 03:21 AM) I don't mind the Twins. They don't go out and buy players, they don't have guys who you know abuse PEDs. Their players (Outside of Morneau and Mauer) aren't that damn good, no matter how much Hawk kisses their ass. I'm tired of seeing Nick Punto and guys named Span absolutely kill us. As someone said last night, the Sox' advanced scouting dept should either be: A) Fired B) Hire more of them The Sox hitters and pitchers look absolutely clueless against these guys every time in the Metrodome and I'm sick and tired of it.
  3. After this series, how any Sox fan doesn't have the Twins as their most hated team is beyond me. The Sox make all their hitters and pitchers look like Babe Ruth, Lou Brock and Cy Young all into one, it's so disgusting. How I hate the goddamn Twins.
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) I am really hoping for a rainout tonight, which is probably the first time I have ever wished for one. Why? C.C. Sabathia against Jose Contreras is not a good matchup for us and even though we have the six game winstreak, I would rather make this game up with the Indians when they either don't have Sabathia or we probably don't have to face him in the makeup game. Am I wrong to think this? Is anyone else hoping for the rainout? To be the best, you've got to beat the best. Beating Sabathia would give the Sox even more confidence heading into the Oakland series. Besides, come playoff time, the Sox will be facing teams' best and 2nd best pitchers so they've got to start beating them now.
  5. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 11:09 AM) What a great weekend! Now lets keep it up vs the Tribe.... Hopefully Detroit wins 2 of 3 vs Minny and we win all 3 vs the Tribe to cushin that lead a bit. Actually, I wouldn't mind the Twins pushing the Tigers back a little as the Sox take care of the Indians. I know the Twins will fade, I can't say the same thing for Detroit.
  6. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) BTW, I want to congratulate all who hate Jay who visit his column on-line or buy the paper to read him. You helped him get his new 3-year deal. If you don't like him...don't read him. Read my mind, Ribbie. Thx to threads like this, that douchebag still has a job in this town for another 3 yrs
  7. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 07:33 PM) ugh I don't get it either. The Sox are playing the Pirates for God's sake! They're not facing Cy Young out there so 6 runs isn't impossible
  8. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) Ozuna shows why he has no purpose on the team. But, but, Ozzie said Ozuna hurt was the reason why they sucked so bad in '07!
  9. The Sox offense really shouldn't be a mystery to us at all by this point....They're a HR reliant hitting team, if they're hitting them, they're scoring some runs. If they're not hitting bombs, they're screwed since most of this lineup is slow, doesn't work pitchers with the exception of Quentin or Thome nor hit for batting average enough to set up scoring opportunities. The reason the Cubs Offense has been fantastic this yr is because they are working pitchers to death with their outstanding OBP and setting up favorable counts with runners in scoring position. They simply don't give in to a pitcher and we're gonna get a dose of that over the next couple of weekends. I just hope the Sox hitters take some notes.
  10. I just hope the past two days off will help Carlos out, we need his bat to be red hot again for these series coming up and go into the All Star Break with them still in first...
  11. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 02:27 AM) Personally I am having trouble writing this game off as "one of those games" when it's our best pitcher (and one of the best in the AL) against their worst pitcher (and one of the worst in the AL). That's just baseball for ya....Can't explain why things didn't go the way it looked on paper....
  12. Some really bad baseball being played tonight by both sides....Sox are kinda sleepwalking out there and Detroit's shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly.
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 12:57 AM) This is bad managing tonight. Whats the purpose of leaving him in to get destroyed. Ozzie should have walked Cabrera back in that 5th inning to pitch to the kid and now, he finally pulls Jose ONLY after he gives up another run and killing the little bit of momentum they were building up. Bad job tonight by the skipper.
  14. So happy for Brian there, especially with his earlier AB! Way to hang tough, BA!
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 18, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) I think ive seen enough of Wasserman, not saying MacDougal is the answer.... but he was better than what we are getting out of Ehren That's like saying my poop smells better than your poop but in the end, they're still poop.
  16. Did I see tonight's lineup on Sportnite, right? Somebody check me: Cabrera - SS AJ - C Quentin - LF Dye - RF Thome - DH Konerko - 1B Crede - 3B Swisher - CF Uribe - 2B Like Quentin hitting 3rd, AJ hitting 2nd could lead to the fastest inning Lackey will ever see since he and OC luv swinging at the 1st pitch. Just meh in my book but what else can Ozzie do?
  17. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ May 13, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) Anything Mariotti related, although today's was pretty funny from a man that doesn't allow you to respond via e-mail. But yes, Mariotti. Remember, it's Moronotti here, hack everywhere else .)
  18. QUOTE (Linnwood @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) Sometimes I think he is just screwing with us. He can't tell us what he really thinks. I'm sure he agrees with the rest of us in knowing the offense absolutely sucks right now but what good does that do for his team? He has to give us and the media whores the cliche answer to protect his team. Everything else, Ozzie tells us like it is but he can't tell us that!
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 7, 2008 -> 02:30 AM) You dont change the defense during a no-no IMO, dont change the mojo. If one wants to insure the best possible defense for a no-hitter, BA over Swisher isn't even a close call or disrupts the phantom "jinx" at all. Ozzie got booed when he came out to pull Gavin and deservedly so. He didn't do his best to help out Floyd.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 11:21 PM) Why in the f*** would you challenge Stewart, especially inside with Buehrle's horrible fastball? Considering Overbay is brutal against Buehrle, Ozzie should be ridiculed for that decision. What a terrible manager. Hawk alluded to it twice quietly about the open base and how bad Overbay hits Buehrle Good to see Hawk's awake tonight
  21. QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) How do Yankee fans have Higher IQ? I am here on the east Coast and I have run into plenty of "yankee fans" who have no idea who Robinson Cano is. Serious. Agreed, Yankee fans' IQ is highly overrated. A co-worker who moved from NY to Chi confirmed it when he mentioned the Yankee All Century Team fan voting and Tino Martinez was beating Lou Gehrig at 1B until the papers bashed the fans for it. Only then, did Gehrig pull ahead BTW, the more and more I look at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, the more I wish we could swap parks with them! Don't get me wrong, I luv Comiskey but that design with the flat upper deck with the club seats mixed in so close to the field makes me shake my head at Jerry for incorporating 2 levels of suites at Comiskey.
  22. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) Quentin would be the optimal 2nd hitter right now. Swisher Quentin Thome Konerko Dye Pierzynski Crede Cabrera Uribe Not with Carlos' power. I'd go: Swish, OC, Quentin, Thome, Kong, Dye, AJ, Crede, Uribe. Adds some more OBP and power in the top 1/3 of the order while improving the bottom 1/3.
  23. Since Ramirez got a hit last night, is he starting in CF tonight with Swish in RF with Dye hurting? Should be Ramirez at 2B, Anderson in CF and Swish in RF but Ozzie says Uribe's been here 5 yrs
  24. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 01:41 AM) It does suck that we only scored in the first inning. But I really like to see the sox win these low scoring games. It means so much to be able to hold a fairly small lead for 8 innings I'm liking the versatility the Sox are showing in winning ballgames. Besides, I luv watching and winning 1 - 0, the '05 World Series proved they're the best types of games to win!
  25. Knew Pablo would be in there today but why Ramirez over Anderson?!? Esp since Quentin's looking a little fatigued lately with the lousy swings he's put in the last couple games?!?
