It doesn't have to be about politics, just good creativity. I have a song that i just listened to that was about the earth, and how its kept good through the years. Stuff like that. You probably misunderstood me becuase of my lack of word choice by usuing the word "real". I probably should have used a better word such as important, or something. Basically, overall, i'm just saying the good rappers, dont rap about junk. Not the most influential of all time, but yes a very good, influencing album. And honestly, the lyrics on there are 10x the lyrics on the radio nowadays. DJ's = there for the beat. MC's = there for the words.. Correct. Never said it did...

Allright. Clipse is not bad, but not one of my personal favorites. But to say pusha t had the best rhymes in years is an overstatement.

Okay, so theres some people who can't have a draft on a weekday. And theres some that dont want it on a friday/saturday. So how's sunday night for everyone? I will put a third SP spot for you. . The alternate to that debate is : Holds = More relievers = lessinging the value of a Joe Nathan / K-rod. It would make drafting a reliever in the third round/fourth a bad pick. Ya know? It makes the closers valuable. As I do agree with it not being good when you miss out on the closers, it's a choice you take to not select closers in the draft. As you might miss out on closers, you will have a better offense then the guy with 2-3 closers. Agreed. K/BB + OPS will be added.

The way I look at it is not bewteen mainstream/underground, its bewteen Hip-Hop and Hip-Pop. 2 different genres. Rick ross, clipse, three 6 mafia, T.I., juelz = Hip-Pop. Less focus on the lyrics, more on the beat, and the hooks. Very appealing to the average fan / hardcore fan now and then. Hip hop = Nas, Wu tang, Most underground artists. You cant call the stuff rick ross does in the same category as Nas.

Mainstream to me = Pop music. ie. 50 cent, lil wayne, dipset, the other junk. If you think Nas is a whack rapper, you dunno hip-hop. Nas is among the best hip-hop has ever seen. Illmatic is a top 10 CD of all time. His raps vary from rapping about being a gun (I Gave You Power), he raps a story backwards (rewind) etc. I recommended these artists because Pauly seemed to like Jay-z, and those are similar artists. And how can you not like Mos def / Talib Kweli? Have you heard Blackstar? And you heard of J-Live? Not many have... You want some good underground s***, pick up people under the stairs, the procussions, nubajes, radix, phi-life cypher (UK rapper), Prince Paul, El Da Sensei, etc. Dunno how you can complain about nas/mos def. AS you said yourself, "what do you see in mainstream hiphop." 50 cent / lil wayne/ etc. are among the artists who cant rap about anything other then sex, guns, drugs, and how amazing they are.

You serious? How can a thing like PP not allow certain countries? It worked fine for me . Do you mean, money wise? I haven't tried any money yet, i've just done free tournaments.

Gangstarr is GREAT. Have all his albums, I like Dead prez a bit. Have 2 Atmosphere albums, but havent listened. You listen to any old greats? Eric B / Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Lord Finesse?

Yup. I really don't see how such a s***ty baseball franchise can be so successful with the popularity of the fans. I can understand how the buy-every-player, be good every-year type team like the Yankees, and Red-sox can be fan favorites by the average fan, just because they win, but the cubs don't even do that. They haven't won since 1908, thats TERRIBLE. I don't understand how the cubs can be the face of Chicago's baseball scheme, even after the white sox won it all in 2005. But hey, it's fine with me, never being looked at in the media, always the second team, flying under the radar.

Indeed, good cd, and yes The Roots are very solid. If you like them, allow me to offer you some other excellent choices: J-Live, Nas (he's a must have for any hip hop fan, particularly the cd 'Illmatic'.), Talib Kweli (he's a style similar to Jay-z), Mos def (check youtube for a song "Dollar Day aka Katrina Klap"). Mos def raps about alot of real things - government. Check out the song Dollar day, and check out the collab he did with Immortal Technique entitled Bin Laden.

Party poker ---> Cryptvill Absolute poker (my favorite) --> Cryptvill both good for tournys, I like Absolute poker because of there "Absolute Swag Freeroll." Its a tournament, every night at 11:15pm EST, and they give away actual prizes (freeroll), for top 5 like Hats, Shuffler etc. Obviously not great prizes, but hey, its something to play for.

Ah, understood with OPS. So right now : I'll add OPS, but we need a pitching category, any ideas on a fair one? I really dislike holds.. id like holds if it was around a 20 team league, but in a 12 team league, i think its just a unpredictable thing . Im Guessing these are the players who have not joined up yet. Sleepywhitesox has said he cannot join, so were down one player. If any one else on Soxtalk would like to join, then theyll have first priority, but come draft day - if we need one person, i'll get my friend to join up.

Well OBP is a good category and im willing to put that in if the league accepts it. But we cant have holds as a category. To unpredictable, and we dont have unlimited pitching spots. People like Scott Shields, and Mike Macdougal will then be taken in front of players like Vazquez, Buehrle, Garland etc. Because you only have around 7-10 pitching slots. Holds = i dont really like, but possibly that K's / walk ratio?

Ok, i think our league draft time is set. A Weekend, late - the 24th, Saturday night. Head to Head it will be. Settings are still up in the air (a tad bit). It will not be a huge settings like (8x8, 9x9 etc.) However, right now its a 5x5, im willing to add 1-2 settings for pitching/hitting.

NVM, Yahoo updated there draft times, any time you guys want basically now.

It's very hard to get a perfect draft time with the way yahoo public leagues are being filled up. Theres actually days in March where you cant sign up due to the amount of leagues being developed. So it's been difficult to get a prime time live draft. Do you want the draft later? or?

Okay, I went ahead and made the league : League id : 108573 password : soxtalk Join up, the draft date is currently set to Sat, March 24, 8pm EST. The settings thus far, are head to head, 5x5 (normal cat). Pretty basic league, if you want change, post in this thread, please give your opinions. thanks

Obviously, any other suggestions / needs will be taking into consideration, so post whenever you are available for the draft. 2. League Settings - Head 2 head, Or Roto? I'm guessing the majority vote will be Head 2 Head, but please do speak out for what you guys want. The inner settings : A normal league usually has a 5x5 / 4x4 style play, with Home runs, Runs, Stolen Bases, RBI's, Average as the hitting categories, and the pitching categories being Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP, K's. Now, I personally, usually like to keep it simple, with just those 5, however, im up for adding some categories if you feel the need to. If you want a hitting category, be sure to suggest a pitching category as well to even it out. so guys, Post away on your opinions, I cant make the league unless I know what you guys want. Damn. Thats a tough one Dan haren is very solid, i Like him alot, and would pick him over pettite. But Andy going to the yankees is very good-looking, but haren has to much reward to not pick him.
