  1. Thanks for taking the time to write it up. I don't really view Springer as the 'perfect' piece. I think OFrs are much easier to find than any other position. I feel Springer will decline from the moment he signs the contract. We will be locking in 5 years at a pretty high salary for a player north of 30. How good is he going to be this year? next? I would be very happy if we get Springer, but I would have loved MAchado/Harper/Bauer/Wheeler/Betts. Springer to me feels like a second tier that we are going to have to pay up for a lack of production over the contract. How good of defense is he right now? I can't image at 30+ he's that spectacular. When other posters say to platoon Pederson+Engel, I think that is pretty much as effective as Springer, no?Or at least close to it. IDK, I just feel like spending their load on a 30+ OF isn't an ideal usage of the limited moneys we have.
  2. I guess it would be kinda cool to get Pederson. He hits bombs in MLB the Show.
  3. Would love Bryant. If there's any way to get him and extend him then I'd be overjoyed. He's going to be a great ball player in the next few years and I feel like he is being under valued right now because of injuries and inconsistencies (not necessarily his fault).
  4. Steve Stone really ticks me off sometimes. Guy is smart and I enjoy his commentating, but on Twitter he is up there with the biggest douchebags in the social media game. Price is Luis Robert? GTFO stoney. Price ain't Robert, no one is dumb enough to suggest that. Snarky ass.
  5. Highly disagree with you here. I think Keuchel is going to regress strongly next year. That leaves us with 1 known: Lucas G. Kopech you cannot count on for more than 100 IP, probably less. Cease/Dunning are hard question marks. Can't project them for anything more than SP4. Honestly, our rotation could be one of the worst in baseball if we get unlucky/are not careful as it stands.
  6. I heard a statistic on a baseball podcast a few days ago that of the Rangers positional players, if you take away Joey Gallo, they are projected at -2 WAR. That's how bad the Rangers are, lol. They NEED to trade/rebuild. That's why I am so persistent on dealing with them. They can't be this stone headed for long (like they were at the past few trade deadlines). Might be able to do math here? https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2020-zips-projections-texas-rangers/
  7. You didn't ask me the question, but the problem with Darvish, IMO, is that since he is signed longer then just one year we would have to factor him into plans for the next 3. I don't think he will be that good for the 3 years. I'd avoid him, but the cost probably wouldn't be too much. He's a buy high right now obviously, but package him with Heyward and I'd like that, as we could get it for peanuts.
  8. Gallo with 2 years is quite nice for our lineup. His versatility, decent (or good??) defense, and left handed power would be ideal for what we need in RF. I'd also love to extend him as he is only 27 years old. He'd be a great fit IMO. Lynn would likely walk in one year, but we need a high quality SP right now. Andrus only has 3 years left and it isn't even that bad of a contract. He was decent/good in 2019. Would love to have him as our 'next man' on the bench.
  9. I think a shrewd gm can find a way to make a deal with the Rangers for Lynn+Gallo without giving up our elite prospects. Add in Andrus, sure.
  10. I still wouldn't trade Madrigal. I'd use Andrus as a sub/utility. He'd be quality at that for sure. Not sure how much he runs these days, but could be a pinch runner as well. My goal this offseason would be in acquiring a quality SP+RF without giving up our prospect core.
  11. Give me Andrus+Lynn+Gallo for peanuts then yes I take on Andrus
  12. 1) The white sox do not give the biggest offers. Especially to a premium talent that over half the league would love to acquire. 2) The White Sox organization would very likely be near the bottom of Bauers wish list.
  13. There is 0% chance that Bauer comes here.
  14. I think that you are fighting a losing battle if you try to vilify players for steroids.
  15. We're starting to get a little carried away with the rumor mill here in late November. So here's some tenants/comments from a more mellowed prespective: 1) We shouldn't/aren't going to trade any of Madrigal/Kopech/Vaughn/Crochet/Dunning/possibly Cease. The only exception to this is if we trade Kopech or Vaughn in an insane SP deal for like a Marquez or Snell. I put the chance of that happening very very low and it's only sensible if all we are giving up is that one piece + a few more very minor ones. Anyway, I don't think we should go into this offseason mulling over trading these pieces, it won't/shouldn't happen. 2) We aren't signing Bauer. Again, there is a 0% chance this happens. That sucks, because that solves a lot of our issues. 3) This team needs more SP, depth and quality. We aren't going to get quality from free agency, so we are going to have to hope we get a good trade partner. I see us trading with the Rangers, it makes way too much sense. Lynn, should cost very little. He will cost none of our core set. This deal should get done. I'd love to see Joey Gallo come back our way as well as I think he is a big time difference maker. If we do get him involved, I'd love a contract extension. If not the Rangers, maybe the Cubs with Darvish+Heyward but there's some risk involved there with Darvish. 4) Springer, while nice, really doesn't fit our mold IMO. I hate saying it, because I want to see this team fully stocked, but signing Springer to a big time contract I think does more harm than good for the long term outlook of this team. He's a better fit on the Blue Jays who need a primary CFer or the Mets. For our OF acquisition I think we need a defense first candidate. Our Offense is so strong, but seeing Eloy butcher balls all over the field and forcing Robert to play 2/3 the OF sucks. There should be an abundance of ways we can get creative and solve our RF problem without spending big on Springer. While I'd be ecstatic over the announcement of signing Springer, I will be sad knowing that it isn't the right fit. So for me, a perfect offseason while being realistic might be something like: -Trade for Lynn+Gallo without giving up the prospect top core. Do whatever else it takes. -Sign SP depth (Think Quintana works wonders here) -Sign the backups (Backup C, RP, maybe even another OF/SP) That's really all I'm looking for. 1 Quality SP, 1 Quality RF that plays defense well enough, 1-2 SP depth.
  16. My friend, the sox are not the type of organization to do this stuff. Bauer and his personality do not mesh with thus organization. There is just no chance it happens. I appreciate your optimism tho
  17. Why is gray available? It makes no sense unless hes damaged goods
  18. 1) We aren't signing Bauer 2) We aren't going to trade for Snell, we aren't that loaded with prospects or money to make something like that smart. 3) We aren't going to ever acquire or sign Conforto. Mets will keep him with their billions of dollars now. 4) We are likely going to get 2 B or C level starting pitchers this offseason. Or more likely, trade for Lynn. 5) For the OF, Springer seems like a possibility, but more in the 15% chance range than over 50%. Lots of teams seem in on him, Mets with billions of dollars, Blue Jays need a prime CF. Honestly, this offseason fucking blows for the W'Sox. Our time was with signing Harper.
  19. I strongly prefer trade outlooks like gallo blackmon heyward gallo would be ideal
  20. Id be good but would swap pederson with a rf who isn’t platoon only
  21. Should we sign Hunter Renfroe? Good defense + power, but right handed
