Fantasy Baseball discussions
iWiN4PreP replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
Cool story bro... 53 Yahoo H2H Leagues. 2 Of them are Custom leagues, 51 are public. I finished the regular season in First or Second place in 49 out of 53 of them. Remarkable. In early August I was in first or second in only 32 of them. So from mid-august to now (Sept 9th) I went from 32 first/second to 49 out of the 53. Entering today (Sunday) there were 6 teams on the clinch of either 1/2 place or 3/4th place. Entering tonight's BOS vs. HOU sunday night game I was actually in third place in 3 separate leagues. Somehow, all 3 leagues managed to play out in MY favour and I ended up over taking second in them. I think one guy had Hector Rondon (who blew it) and that cost him second place. Of course 1/2 place is the important spot because that guarantees you a bye week. Bye weeks are incredibly important in H2H as it takes away a little bit of the luck factor of H2H baseball and allows you to properly utilize all 6 of your roster moves for the week to prepare for next week. PS: Can we move this topic somewhere where it gets seen lol -
Give me Harper AND Machado! Go big.

I want to make a note about A.J. Pollock. This guy has been absolutely horrid for the past 30+ days since he returned from injury. I'm not talking bad, I'm talking HORRID. I no longer advocate for him at all, I'd rather have Engel over Pollock. I feel Pollock's best days are gone thanks to Age+Injury.

The rebuild has not gone well so far, but 2 or 3 weeks ago it was looking like the rebuild was going extremely well. Seem paradoxical? Perhaps... A week or so after Kopech came up there was news of Giolito 'finding' himself. He was showing fantastic potential. Now, he got bombed the other night with a velocity dip again showcasing his inabilities all year. ReyLo has been off/on (mostly off) all year, but again was showing promise during these weeks. I hope the progress continues.. Rodon was aceing everything during this stretch, but the last couple of starts from him now are showing that his lucky peripherals may have been just that... luck. And everybody knows the story of Kopech and how it went from peak to rock bottom instantly. So, in a matter of a few weeks the rebuild went from looking quite awesome to rather bad. I'm disappointed and sad. I don't even have much more will to post for a few days after this Kopech incident and the SP's going to hell.

It seems like it's a virtual lock that it's going to rain... and be rainy all night. They should either call the game, or the W'Sox should just move Kopech back a start and have a Middle RP start the game. This game is toast.

Yeah -- Maybe we need a topic to analyze Daniel Palka and his updated projections/ability. I am very interested in him -- his power is amazing and he seems absolutely hilarious/good character. He's someone I could get behind if I knew more about his projected abilities in the AVG./OBP department.

I know this is a bit off topic but I need to say two things: 1) I think we should explore any and all trade opportunities for Jose Abreu. I really like the Rockies in this scenario. Abreu for Ryan McMahon or Abreu for one of their OF's or something. Seems like the Rockies have no interest in using their prospects properly, so give them a piece like Abreu who could really rock it for them at 1b as they likely intend to compete this year. Honestly, I have no clue why this deal hasn't already been worked out as it makes too much sense to me. But OK, if we can't get anything of GOOD value for him, then we gladly keep him. I'll be happy with that outcome as well, but I strongly prefer a good trade for him since he is a FA soon and getting older during out contention window. 2) We need to explore every opportunity to trade Carlos Rodon this off season. I love the Braves as a destination here. I do NOT trust Rodon. His peripheals this year are showing signs of luck, he seems to be injured half the time, yet there's a strong possibility that we could find a very good home for him this off season with a great return. We should do this since we all know he is a Boras client and a FA coming up soon. We get 4 more quality prospects from these deals that are near-MLB ready and we are talking super-team with some FA signings here by 2020 and ability to compete even in 2019. Note: I'm not by any means saying we HAVE to trade either, but that we should STRONGLY look to trade them.

Pull up Eloy and keep him down longer next year?
iWiN4PreP replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You guys are really being unfair here to HoT FiRe. His idea isn't so bad, and I think it might be a good one. Although, I would make one change to it, because there is a lot of risk in it, too. I'd bring him up in this scenario and have two possible outcomes: 1) Either Eloy does poorly, proving the White Sox org. correct in holding him down, and then you just keep him down for the extended absence to start the year off next year. 2) Or he does well, and then you are forced to keep him up and lose the extra year of service. I think there's a decent shot here that Eloy gets called up tomorrow anyway. It's just the right thing to do. -
