  1. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) HAHAHAHAHA PIERRE! Definitely not a good defender. I don't care about the last play... as your statement is false.
  2. Lead off walks tend to result in runs scored, for those of you who didn't know.
  3. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:34 AM) Over Jones...any day and twice on yesterday. It was all about $$$$. No.
  4. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Really? Our third string catcher bothers you that much? I have grown tired of hearing him around here for the past half decade as some sort of legit option as a back up. I was tired of hearing about him pre injury... post injury... it doesn't matter. He has sucked every stop he has been, and that's being nice. I'm pretty damn certain the org has never looked him as any sort of real option and year in year out yet you'll hear from people ''will lucy make it out of spring training?!?!?!''... and meaning it. He is a borderline scrub (lucky to be even be considered a scrub) and should be treated as such. Hope that answers your question for you.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) It's not his MLB debut, but ok. Some people forget 2007 even transpired.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) I got to correct kal! Yay! When kalapse wasn't corrected last night... that was the shocker. Guy couldn't say a damn thing correct if he tried.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) Maybe 5 years ago. Jones is one of the best CFers ever.
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) it's part of Ozzie's plan to semi-rest his players. Rios is still playing defense but at a less physically demanding position than CF. Ridiculous. It really is. Left fielders average roughly half of a put out less (it's less than half) per game over the course of a year than center fielders. It's nothing significant, and most definitely not worth putting your team in a worse position to win for some so called ''semi-rest''. I can buy into the rotating dh to keep players fresh and healthy. This on the other hand is baloney, end of story.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) Is he seriously DHing Pierre? Face palm* If you're going to DH anyone, DH Quentin. And what the hell? Rios has been great these past two days in center. Why switch him to right? I'm getting sick of Ozzie flipping things around when they've been fine. Our best defensive alignment is pierre, rios, and jones from left to right, i have little doubt. I'm rather high on jones defensively and think he will be more than fine (plus defender) in center when out there. Now do i think rios should be in left in favor of jones? Not so much, it's borderline asinine. Hopefully though jones pulls back two at the fence today and makes ozzie look like a genius, it wouldn't hurt my feelings any. In regards to dhing pierre. I would really have no problem with it if pierre was batting ninth rather than first. But it is what it is. Our problem is this now guarantees our worst hitter in the first place the most plate appearances, and now he has a pretty mean handicap against himself. The problem is dhing is incredibly hard and makes even the best of hitters (vast majority of the time) worse... considerably. I see it like this, carlos quentin dhing would hurt us more offensively than pierre dhing ever could. But then again you have to consider the defensive differential between the two, which does come into play. Positional adjustment in runs per 600 PA.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) Eh, Tony Pena got beat by a good pitch that was blooped in for a rbi, I wouldn't look too much into that. As far as Jenks, the wildness is obviously a bit concerning but it's not like he was getting hammered out there and lets wait until he gets into a save situation before we decide that he's done as a closer. He's never been good in non save situations and that's something you think Ozzie would have realized by now. Jenks has a 3.23 era in save situations with a triple slash line of .222/.284/.333 with a whip of 1.094. His k/bb ratio is a damn good 3.20 in save situations. Jenks also has a 3.23 era in non-save situations with a triple slash line of .245/.313./352 with a whip of 1.308. The differential in his whip is 0.214. His k/bb ratio drops to 2.62... his strike out rate is actually higher 0.6 higher but he is considerably more erratic in non-saves. Jenks is worse in non-saves but nothing earth shattering... the same exact thing happens all around the league... it's pretty natural.
  11. I like kotsay when he is starting daily. I like him a lot for that matter. What i forgot to to mention is that i like kotsay a lot when he is starting on another team.
  12. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 11:23 PM) Kotsay is a great bench player, but the starting DH in the 5 hole? Are you f***ing kidding me? This lineup is a total joke. I love Ozzie, but as an in-game (who should bat, who should pitch, hit and run etc) manager, he sucks bad. So if he sucks so bad in game what is there to like? Do you think he is cute? Or what is it... funny? I just don't get it.
  13. Carmona at 60 pitches through 3. Very nice to see.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) does any other fan base have as big of a love affair with their groundsman? No. Well they shouldn't. Every other groundman is inferior to bossard.
  15. Based off of past history (since 2005) heyward's home run will more than likely be one of the top five we see all season. Damn impressive considering his age. You can check it out for yourself.
  16. Not sure if i am gonna be around for most for most of the game... but this deserves a bump to the first page. Best keep it that way.
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) Sizemore doesn't even make that much given his talent and past production: 10: $5.6M 11: $7.5M 12: $8.5M club option It was just 2 years ago that he was in the top 11 in the game in WAR and even with his bad, injury prone season last year he's still top 5 over the past 3 seasons. Even if the Indians did put him on stupidly put him on the block we would be FAR from the highest bidder. Sizemore was not top five in WAR the past three seasons. He was top five from 2006-2008 and also top five from 2005-2008. From 2007-2009 he is tied for 14th with carlos beltran at 14.5 WAR. Your point still stands... he is highly underpaid for the caliber or player he is. Sizemore is one of the best in the game.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) ^^^ I absolutely love to watch Matt pitch. As i said in the chat, 9 pitches for 9 strikes to retire the side has only happened 45 times in history.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) I loved his initial post. He tried wayyy too hard after that. I thought he might've been Brandofan. But I just can't fathom a grown man being this obsessed with a message board. If that was him, that's at least (and I'm not exaggerating) the 20th time he's tried to come back on here under a different name. That's Glenn Close style obsession. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) Lets just say used to be Jim Hellwig, and he came back as Ultimate Warrior, and Vince McMahon told him to take a hike ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) I cannot believe people bought into the idiocy that was the ultimate warrior. This thread should be locked with the key thrown away. This thread will just be another way for jimh to get off to himself throughout the entire season. It's pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Brando and jimh should start up their forum, but they would likely end up banning one another simultaneously. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=2110860
