1000 posts for a white sox world series!!!!
qwerty replied to Ultimate Warrior's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I cannot believe people bought into the idiocy that was the ultimate warrior. This thread should be locked with the key thrown away. This thread will just be another way for jimh to get off to himself throughout the entire season. It's pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Brando and jimh should start up their forum, but they would likely end up banning one another simultaneously. -
Kap... what is the deal with the chat? Any updates... will we be ready to go for tomorrow?

So who will it be that posts the first lame as all hell april fools day joke? Well technically it would be the second, strangesox already got his in for the day.

I can't believe the sox are so bad. These scrubs cannot even perform up to everyone's expectations in spring training? These players are paid to perform! Day in day out! Even when the games don't matter and the players are just trying to find their groove/work on mechanics. They are like the worst team ever. I don't even think i am gonna watch one game in the regular season. I need to find a new team that cares and performs in spring training.

A while back I rated cryptviLL a 1 star. Shortly after i get a comment in my profile that he says ''Rated you a 1 star''. I laughed. He is far and away the leader in profile views, for what reason, i couldn't tell you why. Cryprvill has 1,327 views, 575 more than the next person, soxace. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) I don't even have a star rating... Are you sure? I can see it.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 06:28 AM) insomnia makes qwerty do odd things Dylan was at one point the only five star rated poster for the longest time. Someone bumped him down to a four star recently it appears. Anyway, you are currently the only five star rated poster. How does that make you feel?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) And Ace declined a mod offer in 2006. Ya that's right, I put myself out there.. If you were offered a position they must have been extremely desperate. If you took that as an insult... well it was.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) MISTAKE!! Wait..does this make me the lone top 10 poster without a badge? Score. Five people in the top 20 are neither a mod or admin, though one (wite) has been in the past. Fathom is second, steff is eigth, wharris is eleventh, wite is fifteenth (has been a mod), and then you come in at eighteenth

Animal kingdom is getting rave reviews. The opening scene alone is intriguing enough for me to want to see it (i have read several reviews).

Wood's 20 K's vs Buehrle's perfect game
qwerty replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) Actually, there have been 5 20+ K games, 4 of them in 9 innings (the other was 16 IP), 2 by Clemens, 1 by Wood and 1 by Johnson. Wood's outing was exponentially more impressive than Buehrle's. Not only did Wood K 20 in that game but the only baserunner came off a fairly routine groundball to third that Kevin Orie couldn't corral, it really should have been an error. Not only that but he had to go through Craig Biggio, Derek Bell, Moises Alou and Jeff Bagwell to get it done. It's arguably the most dominant performance in baseball history. The highest game score since 1953 is 116 by dean chance in 14 innings. . Kerry wood has the highest 9 inning game score since 1953 at 105. The next highest 9 inning game score is sandy koufax at 101. Buehrle's game score was 93 in his perfect game. A 93 game score is not very uncommon to see from very best seasons year in year out (top 5). -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) Apparently the season really needs to start because people are freaking out. I would love the season to start because i am sick of the lack of conversation... and when there is any it is generally terrible.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 02:33 AM) Holliday and Manny? QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 02:37 AM) I was thinking Helton and A-Rod, but your probably right. Manny is 8th with helton coming in at 18.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) A lot of people said it was a good idea, and then next to no one actually bought something. Maybe we should actually have a logo contest? That way we have something to put on shirts and hats? Though the thong stock was probably wiped out by dougly.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 06:45 PM) Not sure exactly, but MLB Network had a segment about basestealers, and I thought they said only 1 stole over 40 bases in the 2000's. Now only one had over 40 stolen bases in the 2000's? I know you meant 70... Ellsbury had 70 last year, reyes with 78 in 2007, podsednik with 70 in 2004.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) Andruw did have 130 RBI's and stellar defense. Rbi's is a weak argument. Rbi's are dependent on those in front of you, where you bat in the line-up, how often those in front of you get on, etc, etc, etc. Simply put, rbi's are team depended. Nice recent article here. http://joeposnanski.com/JoeBlog/2010/03/13...-feliz-houston/

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) Soriano had a slightly higher wOBA and stole 37 more bases than Andruw. Offensively soriano was better, as a whole jones had the better season due to his defense. Soriano was very solid that season defensively also, but really he always (contrary to common belief) has been a good outfielder. Though last year his head appeared to be up his ass, in every facet of the game. I may be in the minority but i think jones has the ability to still be a premier defender if given the chance. As recently as 2007 he recorded a 21.7 UZR. I think he can honestly benefit us more in the field than he will offensively this upcoming season. Jones has been nothing short of magnificent every year defensively prior to 2008. It should be noted that i am taking in consideration his knee surgery and his 14 years in the league, despite only being 33. Baseball IQ has a lot to due with it, something jones does not lack whilst in the field. Jones has never been the fastest (had plus speed in his early to mid 20's), instead he has always relied on stellar jumps on the ball, with even better reads off the bat. Jones is the best our generation has ever seen, and arguably the best ever.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) I think the Giambi comparison was unfair because it failed to factor in the part that the addition of steroids played in Giambi's development. According to his testimony Giambi started taking roids around 2000-2001. Prior to this time period, he averaged around 26 homeruns and 74 RBI's. This is notable becasue this statline seems well within Teahen's reach. I think Mark Teahen really could be the the kind of player Jason Giambi was, he has a similiar build, and similiar numbers, the important factor here is that it's Jason Giambi before the roids. If teahen can put up a 132 wRC+(1996-1999 supposed pre giambi steroid use) i would be stoked. I can see that being his high side for a fluke year, but to do it on a consistent basis, i'm not convinced, as nothing suggests such. Teahen pretty much is what he is, a below average hitter who had the ability to put up a couple slightly above average seasons here and there. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) I don't believe this for a millisecond. I agree, though it is of course a possibility. Everyone has to start at some point. Even barry bonds.

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) I can't believe Soriano was barely over .700. Really? That is pretty poor. Despite hitting only .220 or so, didn't Andruw almost have an OPS of .800? Soriano was at .723 for the season. I saw that you said ''Despite hitting only .220 or so, didn't Andruw almost have an OPS of .900?'' ... rather than the .800. Anyway jones last day with an ops of .900 or great was july 30th... he finished the season at .782.
-
The giambi comparison was an unfair and unrealistic (yes, at the time even) one to live up to for teahan... especially at the time. Giambi was nothing short of ridiculous for a 3-4 year stretch, his last .1000 ops+ year was in 2002, the year teahan was drafted. Nothing shocks me anymore with the athletics. Mainly they are all about the hype, and having people buy into the unwarranted hype. Now don't get me wrong they produce major league talent, but rarely, if ever (past decade), do they end up panning out to the level that they were supposed to reach. The athletics organization aggravates me to no end, and it does not help that wite would suck off billy beane if given the chance.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:30 AM) Uhhh...no. They have replacements for every player, sure, but you don't just replace the second best closer of the past half decade with a nobody. Jon Rauch might be solid, but he doesn't have the fastball, nor the slider, nor the curve, nor the 2-seamer that Nathan does. Nathan was brought up as a starting pitcher, and had starting pitching caliber stuff, but couldn't put it together as a starter. Hell, it took him a bit as a reliever in Minnesota to put it together as a reliever. Once he did, he took off. Haven't seen it, but I imagine his 2004 statistics look something like 7+ ERA in April and May, and maybe June, and from a certain point on, it's sub 3, maybe sub 2, when he took over the closer role. He's been dynamite ever since, and it's a huge blow to Minnesota. Personally, I think this has a huge, huge effect on the Twins pitching staff. They had everything set in place (Nathan, Guerrier-Mijares, Rauch, Crane, dude)...they won't mess with the setup duo, but their early and closing duties got a bit different. I look forward to it. He did better than you remember in 2004. April/March - 2.45 era May - 0.00 era June - 1.50 era July - 0.00 era August - 5.06 era September/October - 1.29 era Every month he pitch at least 10.2 innings with the high side of 14 innings in september/october. Nathan had a pretty darn solid season in 2003 as a full time reliever with the giants also.
