    i am drunk

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 04:40 AM) What do you do that you're around at this time of the morning? Movies, read, write... they are the three things i am generally always doing. I watch three to four movies a day on average. I'm actually watching empire records at the moment. I generally don't get to sleep until around eleven or noon... and then i get up roughly at one or two. But really when i sleep is nothing more than a crapshoot. I cannot remember something that was even close to resembling a normal sleep pattern in my entire life. I have not slept for more than four hours a day since early on in grade school. It's a terrible life style, but i'm far past the stage of it bothering me even remotely. My sleep was one of the reasons (one of many) why i dropped out and went the route of getting homeschooled. A common complaint is that there are not enough hours in a day, and i fully agree. But, i have actually grown to love the hours i sleep (and the amount), in my eyes i get to make the most out of life, because you can never learn/witness enough things.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 04:23 AM) Q, by all means, feel free to share... Pole. The man just lights one up after another. I truly think he is a lost cause at this point. Btw, it's pretty active for this time. Usually is just myself and one other random person around now. ... and another edit. I think i need to start a thread in which i update daily all the wacky threads from the past that the guests browse at this time of night. The s*** they look at sometimes i tell you...

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 04:13 AM) What is your drink of choice, Blake? Well i can tell you what he smokes.
  4. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Jimmy Stewart makes the movie for me, and Kim Novak to a lesser extent. Of the three Stewart Hitchcock films, I put this in second place, behind Rear Window but ahead of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956). When i first read you say the man who knew too much, i automatically associated it with lorre and the 34 version because i watched within the past week. I have seen both versions, and i enjoy both, though i have yet to come to a conclusion which i like more, considering both have a significant amount of pros and cons. But that's another story entirely. Anyway, the same day i watched the 34 version i watched M, arsenic and old lace (i watch it roughly every six months... those aunts just crack me up), and mad love. What a damn good day that was, a treat even. Gotta love that mug of his. Since i brought up lorre, i might as well mention how much i like mr moto, though i am an even bigger fan of charlie chan. You are one of only a handful here who i figured would actually know who mr moto is. I would honestly be surprised if many more than that knew off him. Btw, i am proud to say i have now (as of very recently) seen every charlie chan movie to date. Next up is for me to check out the series from 57, as i hear practically nothing but good things.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Eventually they found a weakness though, the high, inside fastball seemed to be a pitch GB was willing and able to get himself out on through much of August. Fortunately, he began recognizing this eventually and laying off it, but he did struggle to adjust at times... Play around with this... you will likely have a blast. \/\/007!
  6. The street is in no way your property. Get over it and find a new spot. It's not yours in the first place. Reminds me a lot of someone being childish and saying ''seat save''. Sit somewhere else you god damn cry baby, it won't harm you any.
  7. Caulfield for funniest poster of the year. Hands down.
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) This was in response to me saying Thome doesnt do tons with the bat besides hitting a HR. How is a walk something you do with the bat? It's the opposite of that. This is one of the sillier things i have seen lately. Mostly based off the fact that a players bat comes into play much more than you apparently can ever imagine (every single at-bat) when a walk transpires. Some of the basic reasons are pitcher being worried of the ball being knocked out of the park, a hitters plate discipline, a hitters zone judgement, a hitter being able to predict better than the average bear what the next pitch will be, plus numerous other reasons. Walks are not freebies, not by a long shot, they are earned just like anything else. Abberations can and do occur (wild pitcher who cannot find the zone (miguel asencio), whether it be for an at-bat, a game, week, or the whole season. Walks and how they occur regress to the mean just like anything else. Thome will be sorely missed if the sox do not find a replacement, and he will end up being missed sooner rather than later, unless if a number of unexpected events occur. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 11:45 PM) To both of you: absolutely correct. But not at all on point. I was misquoted. I said I want a guy who, aside from power, is more useful w/ the bat than just homeruns. Walks have nothing to do w/ my original point. Never even mentioned them in it. What exactly do you mean by more useful with the bat than just home runs? Seriously, i don't have the slightest clue. I think the type of player you are looking for is pretty far out of our reach. Anyway, you know this off-season has been bad when we still are, and are essentially forced to be talking about thome being our dh. Trust me, it's not a knock against thome. But if the sox truly want to make any sort of run for it this season, it should have never come to the point of us being dhless on this date, january 18th. Then again they very well may being overrating what they have on their hands exactly, and fully believe they are set. It' more than likely is gonna come back and bite them, hard. I really think/believe they are looking to make their push in 2011, and whatever happens this season happens, as long as they are semi competitive we should be in good shape.
  9. The post that bob dylan had should go down as the number one post in soxtalk history, it was pure genius, if you know what i mean, kyyle. I would actually like to read it again sometime.
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) Well, I guess we have to agree to disagree. I prefer the some-what young guy with some potential left who provides more offensive power off the bench and can mash lefties over the old-relic who is only going to get worse. For his career (minors) nix has hit .256/.325/.385 in 449 at-bats against lefties. He sure can mash 'em.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 07:57 AM) I think that would be his second of three. 2012 would be his first of just two arbitration years.
  12. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) You know the economy is bad when the guy with the world's largest penis is unemployed! http://www.thefrisky.com/post/246-jonah-falcon-penis/ From the same site... it was directly at the top left. Weird vaginas ... and if you do not feel like reading the list... this is just damn silly. I'm generally a very, very open minded person, but come on now, it's a bit much.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Oh man, so many. My father, and the rest of my family, are Cubs fans. But once a year through childhood, my Dad would begrudgingly take me to one Sox game at Comiskey (he grew up in Englewood until around age 7, and his father was a Sox fan). I saw all sorts of amazing games in there - the infamous seat cushion game, back-to-back-to-back HR (I think it was Law-Guillen-Baines, maybe), and Gary Redus winning the game on a home run in the bottom of the 9th, when the Sox were down 4 runs or more going into the 9th. Dad was a good sport though, he didn't root against the Sox, and in some of those great moments, I caught him smiling. Now, its my own daughter, who I took to her first game this past August. She was 9 months old, and I couldn't believe how much fun she had - didn't cry or get upset once. Just loved it. Can't wait for next year. Game log of the redus game winning home run in the bottom of the 9th. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) This may have been different then. I am 99% sure about Guillen being one of the HR's, because it was such a strange event. And Baines was another. So it had to be a season where Guillen was in the 2-slot, and he was a rookie in 1985. You can check again if you wish, but i went into the game log for everyone of guillen's home runs and he was never apart of a back-to-back-to-back. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...illoz01&t=b

Reboot meet spiderman... raimi and maguire are of course out. Couldn't have happened to a more clusterf***ed franchise.
  15. Larussa has alluded to mcgwire coming clean ever since mcgwire was given the hitting coach position. Really was just a matter of time.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) I don't recall the site nor the metric used, but there's a way of telling how much a player contributes with his baserunning. I believe Omar Vizquel was pretty high on that. I figure he will probably take that over and De Aza may have a few appearances himself if he is called up. Vizquel was obviously brought in for his defense, but Ozzie can pull the old double switch out of his ass to figure that out and have Vizquel end up at either 2B, 3B, or SS come the end of a game (and hopefully that's never 2B). Not so much. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statisti...x.php?cid=73838
  17. Terrific two part interview with ichiro. Simply put, he had some really good things to say. http://www.mynorthwest.com/?nid=374&sid=264859 http://www.mynorthwest.com/?nid=374&sid=266497
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Guess the player! 13-14 win loss ERA 5.77 Yes, that is the record of the first three years of ! Halladay's 10.64 era in 2000 in 67.2 innings was a season to remember, as it broke records and all.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) When you look at the stats, once you're out of the top 3, you can legitimately feel like a team that has at least occasional trouble scoring runs. The 4-5-6 teams were Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and Toronto, none of which you sit there and think "This team's just going to outscore me". The difference between offense number 3 and offense number 4 was about the same as the difference between number 4 and number 9. My point still applies. The gap is smaller if you look at more than just one years worth of data (you looked at just 2009). The red sox will have no trouble scoring runs, and when i say that, i mean compared to majority of the league. Compare the team that is fifth in the majors in scoring runs compared to the 15th, and do this yearly. The differential is anywhere from 70-90 runs. Roughly one half run per ball game. One half run can potentially make a world of a difference, and generally does.
  20. QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) not 1st baseman like agon there not . what has danks accomplished that makes him so great ? so irreplaceable ? if he was righthanded he is avg at best so because he is lefthanded he is irreplaceable and is a great pitcher i guess its me but for me to say someone anyone is great i want to see some real serious accomplishments . Danks 31-33 win loss era 4.06 i admit he is still young and he will get better but he is not at this time in his career a great pitcher . he is good . and like the old zen master said will see . 534.1 innings through the age of 24 is rather impressive, some would say it's a real serious accomplishment. When you factor in that he only had 70.2 innings in triple a, which could very well be one of the reasons why he was as bad as he was in 2007 (plus numerous other reasons). He has been very good for us the past two seasons. You are highly underrating him. Also, i'm gonna pretend that you ever used wins and losses as any sort of argument.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) Really, you look at the Red Sox roster and think that they're still the offense they were last year? With another year on Ortiz and Bay gone? I never claimed that they will be quite as good as they were last season, what i did say is they will have no trouble scoring runs. I envision that they will still be in the top five in the majors in scoring runs, something i am rather positive of.
  22. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) Why is it when Boston does this they are smart. When the White Sox do it they are stupid? The red sox have been a force to be reckoned with offensively since about 2002. They will have no problems scoring runs once again in this upcoming season, while we will be consistently struggling to score. Therein lies the difference, a very big difference.
  23. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:57 AM) Well, how about school? Then any clubs, band, choir, sports whatever other after school activities they might be involved in. Did none of these things you mentioned exist until the past decade or two? I think kids are just lazier than ever, and expect everything handed to them (parents fault), more so than parents are worried that their children will get abducted. Also you don't exactly have to walk door to door, get a grocery stores permission and sell your product right outside the store, and sometimes they even let you sell them in the doorway, depending on the weather. If someone attempts to abduct you (kid), bite, kick, and scream until you can scream no longer.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) What if the question winds up being "what would you rather do, DH or retire?" The question will not wind up coming to that. Not this season anyway. Someone will give him the opportunity to play the field at least roughly one half of his games played. They shouldn't, but someone will.
