Very crazy trade idea
Chances are slim he will be returning next year. Free-agent catcher Damian Miller, who made $3 million last season, is seeking a three-year deal. Good luck with that, Damian. The A's would like to bring the 35-year-old back on a one-year contract, but with the lack of catching out there, Miller may get $5 million over two years from another team. We wouldn't be surprised to see the A's try to lure Doug Mirabelli to Oakland with the promise of regular playing time. They're also one of the teams that should be interested in Ramon Castro. Very crazy trade idea
I-rod is the only other catcher i would take over him, piazza would be third on my list. Since piazza will be moving back to catcher full time next season.

Very crazy trade idea
I agree that they will find a catcher, but there are only 3 or 4 catchers comparable to kendall. Right now, i would go as far as saying he is the best hitting catcher in baseball.

Anyone else see those two blocks by garnett? They were pretty sick.

Benitez wants a 1-2 year deal, 6-8 million per year. I would say he is out of our price range.

We need to get either a closer or set-up man this off-season. No ifs, ands or buts, about it.

Organizational Meetings Article
He has devoloped into all he will ever devolope into most likely. He may be in right field next year but definitely not as a starter, He is nothing more than a 6th/7th outfielder in my opinion.

Everything i have read is saying that there is no reason to believe they won't pick up his option. Expect him to be a tiger next year, but i also expect him to be dealt at the trading deadline.

Ken Rosenthal Reports:
All i said is that the chances are slimmer, which is the case imo.

Ken Rosenthal Reports:
He is gonna be 29 next season, a player usually peaks between the ages of 28-32. I am not saying he will not improve, but the chances of it are less likely.

Another fallback plan undiscussed
In 2002 he only started 17 games, which is hardly healthy.

Ken Rosenthal Reports:
The blue jays seem to have interest in zito. http://www.nypost.com/sports/33028.htm October 31, 2004 -- Barry Zito or Tim Hudson is available, Randy Johnson is almost certain to be, and many clubs (not just the large markets) have money to spend. Let the intrigue known as the baseball offseason begin with these seven key issues: HILL OF BEANES Oakland GM Billy Beane could keep his big three starters (Zito, Hudson, Mark Mulder) together for a 2005 title push. But he's leaning toward proactively dealing one and taking a step back by adding young talent while creating payroll flexibility to sign one of the others long-term. Beane prefers that long-term man be Hudson, but he is the only one of the trio who is a free agent after next season. So if Oakland doesn't think he will re-enlist, he is most likely to go. Clubs are scared off by Mulder's chronic hip condition and poor finish, making Zito the more probable bait. Toronto, for sure, wants Zito, and the Yankees, Mets, Texas and Baltimore will have interest in an Oakland starter. Aggressive Beane wants to act now, which is problematic for the Yanks, who want to save chips to see if Arizona dangles Johnson, who could still end up a Dodger, Angel or Cardinal.

He will make closer to 4 million next year than 2.5. Like you said he is not a bad fall back option.

What Price for a #2 SP?
Anyways, he is due for a couple bad years after a good year, that is his trend anyway.

What Price for a #2 SP?
If they add radke, another decent starter, and get a couple more bullpen arms they will win the division next year imo. Hell, at least it wouldn't be the twins again.

Ken Rosenthal Reports:
I still really do not agree with that, he goes after everything hit his way as hard as anyone. He runs the bases as hard as he can when he is not watching his homeruns. He is a bad base runner but it sure looks to me that is is trying hard as hell. Just because he may be slow at times, doesn't mean he no heart and desire.

If we trade Carlos...
I think the best bet is to go after drew instead of beltran. We get a left hand bat, good power, monster obp, ops over a 1.000, good speed but has lost some of it due to injuries, has been said he has a center fielders range but a right fileders arm. For 6-8 million less per year i think it is worth the risk of going after drew rather than beltran. Because we honestly have no chance in hell of getting beltran.
-
Sounds like a plan to me
From the two braves message boards i have browsed through it seems more and more likely the braves will not resign him. There number one off-season goal is to pick up another starter. I would pay up yo twelve million for drew even though he is an injury risk, because when he is healthy he is an absolute monster. His numbers would most likely increase some if he came here too.

What Price for a #2 SP?
I keep reading that also, but since he wants a contract in the 2 years 17-19 million dollar range i find it hard to believe he will take that much less to stay with them. Remember theres hardly any loyalty is sports now a days.

Boozer is 8-10 with 8 rebounds and 2 assists 20 points. Not a bad first game on your new team.

Same old, same old for mihm. 4 fouls with 7 minutes left in the 3rd. Kirilenko is basically beating the lakers by himself, 6 blocks thus far. He is an absolute monster.
