QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 17, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) I'm not calling Dirk or Matrix Magic Johnson......not even close. But in today's NBA, those 2 can play any position and be pretty good at it. Just my opinion though from watching all these games. Magic johnson also could not play defense nearly as well as either dirk or marion. Dirk has been vastly underated his entire career... to the point that people considered him a below average defender... which has never been true.

Can we get Rowand back?
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 12, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) Maybe you havent watched Hunter play much this season. Hunter has played just fine out there... i am sure you think ''he has lost a step''... because he has not stolen a base. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ May 12, 2006 -> 06:07 PM) are you waiting for the casey blake for torii hunter deal? Heard it might be completed within the next 24 hours.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) Rowand is a very good defensive player, but already Anderson is beating him statistically. Why cant you accept the fact that Anderson is better in the field? Because he truly isn't. Do you know what range factor is? Put outs + assists... very, very dependant on the time of pitchers your team has... ground ball/ fly ball pitchers. Do you know what zone rating is? Zone Rating, which is basically a measure of what percentage of the balls landing in a fielder’s zone he successfully fielded. Once again, they are forced to make static assumptions about where each fielder is responsible for covering. It is blindingly obvious to the average fan that there are many situations in which the shortstop is not fielding in the standard “zone” where you would expect him to be fielding, and even worse, there are sometimes whole teams where one defensive player takes control of his unit and becomes an on the field leader, causing the other members of his unit to yield to him on shared plays and damaging their zone ratings unfairly. Going by these two stats means very little when things are said and done. Rowand will have more win shares.... will have more fraa and the majority of baseball fans know who is the better fielder currently, even though anderson has potential to be a better fielder... if he stays in the league with his bat that is....

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 12, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Not 98%, more like 5%. Everyone knows how incredible Rowand's D is All i see is the hyping of anderson and how rowand was not really that good of a fielder while here ( even though he was one of the 2/3 best outfielders defensively the two years he started for the white sox). Rowand will be superior in every single defensive category ( except maybe assists...) over anderson. But that will still not be enough.

Can we get Rowand back?
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 12, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) Its fun to think about, and torii would, IMO, make the lineup much more formidable and could offer at the very least the same defense as BA, but it isnt happening. I dont think there is any way in hell Terry Ryan is going to help the Sox out this year. I think the few fans remaining would revolt. Laff... anderson would be lucky to get close hunter's level... not the other way around. This is getting carried away lately.

I knew this would happen as soon as we traded rowand. People would start talking down rowand's defense and hyping anderson... anderson in all reality is not a better fielder than rowand at this point. He just isn't. The only reason 98% of this board will make that claim is because one is currently on the white sox and the other isn't.

10-0 With Our Regular Line-Up
QUOTE(JimH @ May 10, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Oh. Addison mentioned you like to stir the pot yesterday, you claimed you didn't. I was curious and asked why, on a White Sox fan site, you'd have Cleveland Indians avatars. I guess I'm naive because the last I checked there are about a million different avatars to use. To use one of arguably the White Sox biggest rival on a White Sox fan site is ... well ... stirring the pot IMO. Anyway, no big deal, to each their own. People need to start relaxing if an indians avatar ruffles their feathers... in my opinion.

Sox vs Angels Game Thread
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) He threw a close one at the letters on time. There were plenty of low and away pitches that could have been called, also the 3-2 pitches to the first 2 batters were close. He is a 22 year old rookie. Any calls that he gets is a bonus... anything he doesn't is very understandable.

Can someone admit it was lack of control and not getting squeezed that got him into this trouble? I know i am not the only one that realizes a ball at the letters in not a strike... yet everyone has said otherwise today.

Caberea should have let that hit him.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) Fantastic control on his slider tonight. Our hitters are also reacting like they've never seen a slider in their life. What happened that inning to suggest that? Nothing. To be honest i think the ump is actually being too generous to haeger. Three pitches that were called a strike on the low outside corner should have been balls... yet he called them strikes.

He works extremely fast. Second fastest on the staff far and away... honestly if he didn't get into such deep counts you would see his games fly by like buerhles.

10-0 With Our Regular Line-Up
QUOTE(JimH @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) Sorry, I still don't get the Cleveland Indians avatars. Is there a logical explanation or will I just get the 'ol again qwerty? I don't remember seeing you ask before... either way i like the indians. I have liked the indians ever since i started watching baseball... they were always a joy for me to watch. Currently they have alot of players that i enjoy watching... and alot of likeable players. When it comes to the sox and indians... it basically goes like this... Sox... witesoxfanisadouchebag... ...indians...

10-0 With Our Regular Line-Up
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) I can't disagree with that. He's the MVP right now, there's no question about it. There's no one else more valuable in the league. Therefore backing up my claim even more that hawk is senile.

Charlie Haeger to likely start Wednesday
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 8, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) I realize you are also one to stir the pot, but, I'll answer. I would rather have Redding. No, Redding doesn't pitch with smoke and mirrors and may not be aesthetically pleasing, but, he has 21 wins against major league ballclubs and we know he isn't going to piss down his leg in front of 30K. I don't stir the pot... i am just realistic and i can point out the negatives along with the positives of the white sox... which i realize is hard for some hard core fans ( not saying you... just in general). Tim redding is a man that has a career 5.16 era in the national league. He has over 100 games pitched and 79 starts in the big leagues and just 21 wins? Given up more 50 more hits than innings pitched, not a strikeout pitcher since his first year in the league, and walks his fair share of batters. He has been considered one of the worst pitchers to stick around the the league ever since he has been around. There is really no reason a pitcher of his caliber is up on a major league team... but there is usually a player like that on each team. His career 3.85 era in the minors is nothing amazing even though his 10.5 strikeouts per 9 was impressive.

Charlie Haeger to likely start Wednesday
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 8, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) Ok, I just can't resist...why? Are we going for moral victories here? Or, maybe where wins and losses don't count like little league? The only two options were redding and haeger... given the choice, who would you rather watch pitch? Who has more potential? Haeger is the most major league ready out of anyone in the system and is leading the international league in era. I am pretty excited for his start(s) too. He at least has potential to have an impact his first time seeing the league... over redding who is just disgusting to watch. The way i see it... if redding pitches we are losing. If haeger pitches we will likely lose but we have the chance to watch a home grown knuckle ball pitcher who is better than redding's piece of s*** self.
