  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) That was not very hard to understand...
  2. I am mostly amazed that he did not throw a wild pitch.
  3. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) I'm pretty sure it is included. Hmm... Wikipedia's definition says it is included. The definition on MLB's website is a little ambiguous: "The total number of opposing base runners caught stealing by the catcher. A runner is charged with a caught stealing if he is put out attempting to advance to the next base without the ball having been hit into play." So it sounds like a pickoff is a cs for the runner's purpose, but not for the catcher's. (Which makes some sense.) Look at Pods' game log from last year. He was picked off twice on May 12, and he has 2 cs on that day. (And he was only on base twice.) Exactly, so if they are diving back into first it is just a pick off. Read the comment section here... Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeak!
  4. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) # of times cs includes the # of times picked off. If they get picked off going back into first base it does not count as a caught stealing. When they are picked off... and caught in a run down... it is a caught stealing.
  5. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) That's pick offs plus caught stealing. Pick offs are included in cs almost everywhere, iirc, but obviously it'd be nice if the two outs could be broken apart. No it's not. Those are how many times he was caught running to either second or third. I know for a fact he was picked off 10-12 times... you are not telling me he was caught stealing an actual base 11-13 times.
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Not sure where you looked, it was pretty easy to find. He was picked off 23 times. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=4405 Only 23 i see for caught stealing... he was picked off in the 10-12 range from what i recall.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) Well, I guess this proves Freel would add to the team 'chemistry'. As I said, we don't win it all with Freel in place of Pods. It's not even worth discussing. This is most definitely an opinion.
  8. QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 03:30 AM) I doubt if anybody wants him...nor will let him throw 3 or 4 innings. His job is 2 solid innings...that's it. Kind of just contradicted the whole point or his purpose. If the Mariners were expecting 4 innings out of him...that's their tough s***. I of course did not mean three or four innings in one outing. I meant multiple outings and innings of him doing well, while looking great... then he turns to s*** aka implodes.
  9. QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) Nothing is wrong with Hawk that could not be cured by giving him a decent partner. I like the fact that he is just a cheerleader for the Sox. We could always give him singleton or farmer and have d.j. go do the radio. I think that would work wonders...

    Top 100 Screenplays

    QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) Check out #24. 24??!! It's on every single top 100 list. Never saw it... but plan on it this upcoming week. The plot is pretty damn dumb from what i can tell... and a few people have told me how retarded it is. But then again it cannot be anyworse the life aquatic with steve zissou... most overated piece of s*** i have ever seen. There are so many backers to it... f***ing mind boggling to me. Every year though there are those movies that people have to grasp onto and back no matter how good/bad it really was.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) seriously. any division rival Wonder who you thought of when you posted this...?
  12. QUOTE(SoxRock05 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 01:36 AM) Burnett is on the DL....is he coming back? Since he is scheduled to pitch sunday... the answer is a yes.
  13. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) Thornton threw 22 pitches, 19 for strikes, and one of the 3 balls he threw was a strike that the ump didn't call. He looked really great, and didn't get flustered after what seemed to be endless bad luck (misplayed ball to RF, seeing eye single, and a broken bat dribbler). He blew a couple fastballs by the hitters and also showed some nice control. If he can continue to do this, B-Mac and him will more than compensate for the loss of Viz, Marte, and Hermie. I refuse to get excited over this outing. Ask any mariner fan and they will tell you thornton has the ability to make hitters look foolish as hell for one, two, maybe even three innings... while hammering the zone. Little bit downt he road he will suddenly lose control and implode for a four spot... and those three scoreless innings he just threw go for naught. We likely won't know if cooper is actually a god or not (everyone here seems to think so) until around the all star break.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) I didn't write this team off after they started 1-4 and I'm not writing Jon off after 2 starts. Give me a freaking break people. Hey f*** face... There are young people that visit this site and they do not need to be exposed to your limited vocabulary.
  15. QUOTE(ShoeLessRob @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) Sheesh didn't know his stolen base ratio was so bad for the second half ... Everyone in the world seems to forget the 10-12 times he got picked off too. Two games he got picked off twice... once by chen... and the other i literally just forgot, was right handed.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) If we had Freel instead of Podsednik, there is no way we'd be champs right not. How's that for a comparison? Would like to hear a reasoning why...? Freel has out produced podsednik in the last two years. Freel is a better fielder... he can of course play several positions... he is extremely fast (yayaya)... he has made a smoother transition from the minors also. Freel has a much better eye than podsednik... and most importantly he has never had a fluke/aberration season in the majors like podsednik has... which in turn makes people think podsednik is better than he is in all reality. I am sure people will say freel cannot play a full season and out produce podsednik, well in 2004 he had 505 at-bats he had a .375 obp which is only .004 less than podsednik's career high of .379. Podsednik also had to hit .037 points higher to accomplish that obp. Fact is this team would would be better with freel than podsednik. Also, i have come to accept the fact (actually did before we got him) that podsednik is just a mediocore player (being generous).
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) Pods love?? He has become one of the more hated guys on this site. The funny thing is how hated he has become among most people on here. Well at least i have never changed my opinion...
  18. Thanks for deleting my harmless post guys.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) He's quite the well-rounded player, isn't he? Well by now i think we all know sizemore
  20. I think the tigers just had alot of lucky hits that found the holes today.
  21. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) In spring training I saw cintron play soem damn good SS. I saw him play some bad 2b. Cintron is like valentin... will make the tough play and bobble the two hopper right to him... he does not have as good of range as valentin however.
