QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) True. That's been the knock on Tim Thomas his whole career - that he doesn't try. I remember hearing him touted as one of the best high school basketball players ever. I still don't know why. His high school numbers were quite ordinary for most nba players. He must have shown something then that he hasn't shown in college or the nba. I also don't understand why people make asuch a big deal out of him being able to shoot threes and twenty footers. His field goal percentage is low for what i consider a very damn atheltic 6-10 player... if he wasn't such a fool and took ill advised shots he would be closer to the 50% mark rather than 45%. His defense is awfu and he cannot rebound... at least he can shoot threes better than antoine walker.

Tim thomas has been a bum from day one. All the people that said thomas will be the best player from the trade are probally kicking their selves in the ass now. The best... The rest...

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) So how much does his career .626 OPS make you skeet? Fish u nicca i cannot read0rZ.

QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) He has as good a shot at the HOF as Pete Rose. He was a great player and is a damn good manager and person, but he just isn't HOF caliber sadly. His career .629 ops just makes me skeet all over the place.

QUOTE(striker62704 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) I hope he falls down at the press conference and breaks his back. This should be pretty interesting... Why do you hope he falls down and breaks his back?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) How does everybody know what the budget should be? I mean really know. I just can't fathom careing if a player makes an extra million. I understand it makes for a more interesting off season playing GM, but as a fan, I don't really care if JR makes 1 million or 10 million next season. Ya, what the hell. Timo perez is more than worthy of a million dollars even though he is one of the very worst players in the league. Oh and ben davis for a million was pretty good too ( i don't care if he was gonna to be our starter or not)

If we do well in 2006 we will make alot of profit. If they scrub it up ( not winning the division at the very least) we will still make money but nothing compared to a playoff berth and farther. Doing well early on in the season sets the standard for attendence... so that if and when we faulter later in the season ( 6,7,8 game losing streak) the fans will still likely show up in good bunches ( dependant on the opponent). All the merchandise we are selling from now until the start of the season will vastly decline if we get off to a s*** start. We wills till be up their ( we always are) but no where near the numbers currently. All that i know is a good first two weeks to a month will way to determine how much we bring in. Winning= profity so i really do not understand this poll.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) According to This page, the Rangers Payroll last year was roughly $56 million at the start of the season. Well they still blew with these payrolls. 2000. 57,879,024. 2001 86,871,306. 2002. 108,890,238. 2003. 103,303,814. 2004. 79,217,225.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) We gave up Rowand, Gonzalez, and Haigwood for Thome and cash. What do you think Chad Tracy would cost? In these parts we could have gotten any one of delgado, thome, pujols... For a package of marte, hernandez, and a scrub prospect.

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) So, Brand for Chandler was a bad deal? It seems to me that Chandler's been doing alright for himself. Plus he's a lot younger than Brand putting up the numbers that he is. PS - Brand wouldn't know how to play defense if the opposing player fell in front of him. Or he is one of the best big man defenders in league. Top 10-15 defender in the league and has been for years now.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) Also...don't forget that we are running a 25 year old closer out there, and I think he's still eligible for a ROY award next year. He was on the major league roster for more than 45 days.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) HALF! HE should get half of everything from her. If the situation were reversed, you would here about how all the wealth aquired during their marraige was because of her support for him, and without her, he wouldn't have been as appealing to consumers, etc. She would be broke if he didn't rein her spending in once in a while, he should get half!

I would prefer for our two hole hitter to have some power. I am talking a guy with good gap power and has the ability to hit 10-12 homers... in other words, a guy that is not afraid of knocking in a run. I just do not see gathright being that anytime soon. But imo as it stands gomes is their best outfielder until proven otherwise.

QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) people are just looking for a reason to be cynical. we have the best trainer in the game (herm schnieder) and thome will be DHing. so i would say the odds of him getting messed up are slim. I am convinced herm needs a trainer himself. I mean look at him when he waddles out...
-
That's fairly disappointing.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) For all of you who hate this trade I have some names for you... Josh Stewart, Felix Diaz, Arnie Munoz.... At one time or another all stud pitchers this site went gaga over... I think you are on crack. In my time being here on this site people never got very excited about any of these three mentioned. Did some people think they could hold down the fifth spot in the rotation for a while? Yes. Did people think they would be apart of our future and be anything more than a fifth starter in a pinch? No.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) He should get divorced because her ass wasn't big enough to fit in shorts? Yes, sole purpose. If she cannot do what she is suppose to do well... she is useless.

He is smart. She had to use ass pads to fit the ''daisy dukes''. That is just awful.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) Off the books: Frank: $8M ARow: $3.25 Carl: $4M I know I'm missing something else here...but giving Paulie $12M and Thome $6.25...the Sox are still $5.5 ahead going into arbitration with our other dudes. They still have to lock up both pierzysnki and garland ( likely to three year deals) this off-season. -

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) Mets look to be making an insane push for Delgado... Carlos Delgado - 1B - FLA - Nov. 23 - 2:57 am et According to the New York Post, the Mets are ready to give up Yusmeiro Petit and take on Carlos Delgado's entire $48 million salary to bring the first baseman to New York. The Mets were barely willing to pay him that much over four years when he was a free agent a year ago -- their first offer was for about $33 million over three years. Now they're supposedly willing to pay him $16 million per year -- it will actually be more if they have to make up the difference in the state taxes between Florida, which has none, and New York -- and give up one of the top-10 pitching prospects in baseball. It's foolish, but it'd certainly give them a lineup to be reckoned with. Nov. 23 - 2:57 am et Source: New York Post If this is the case the deal will be announced tomorrow. I don't buy it at all.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Not that tall, he's about my height, got a big head though. I heard him talkin about wearing a kilt to the XMas Party and having a naked rundown, so that can only be good. Since you insist on making this hard... how tall are you then. Flop on aim when you get a chance.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5106080 If he's asking for three years, $30 million, that's certainly a fair request -- one which the Sox should fully oblige to. In fact, make it three years, $33 million. He'll be worth it the first two years, and, while he might be overpaid the last year, that's going to happen with whichever bat that the Sox are rumored to be interested in (Konerko, Thome, Delgado). Well the yankees are big time players in this. In the past his no trade clause included both the white sox and yankees if i recall correctly. I am guessing if he is willing to go to the yankees (always has been reported he wants no part of the east coast) that he wouldn't mind coming to a team that just won a world series the year before. I am sorely disappointed that the white sox are looking in any other direction than giles. He can do more for us than than any of the other options and for less ( money and talent wise).
