QUOTE(rventura23 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) I have heard that joke at least a few dozen times, and each time it is told differently (on tv, radio, fans...) First time I hear it.

The Cubs have a hard time just to get to the World Series. 1945 was the last time they won the pennant! The White Sox have a much better chance of winning it all, again. GREAT time to be a White Sox fan if you ask me.

I watched the original Dawn of the Dead last night and I completely love this film. You gotta love the humor and aptitude that George Romero brought to the film. Tom Savini gets an A+++ for the gore effects that he brought.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) Monday???? s***. On Halloween? Goddamnit. My wife works and I have to take my kid to and pick her up from school. What the f***. No s***. Majority of Sox fans work. Why not the day after tomorrow (Saturday) or Sunday!? Completely stupid decision by whomever made such decision. Completely brought some of my joy down.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WORLD SERIES WINNER!!!!!!
Yoda replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Best Sox team ever! Uribe made a helluva play in the stands for the second out and then the tough groundball to finally end the 88-yr. World Series drought that we had. I never doubted this team except for the time that their 15 game lead in the Central shrunk to 1 1/2. And why even lie!? I’m pretty sure all White Sox fans were desperate, angry, optimistic, whatever, at that time! But that point of time made this ball club a lot better. This team had everyone contributing and it all lead to sweet success. The players are one big happy family and not seeing them till late March will be upsetting. But hey, Chicago will be celebrating for a looong time. Thank you, White Sox! -

Congrats to Larry Walker for the career he had in baseball. To me, Larry is one of the most underrated sluggers. He definitely didn’t have much left in the tank this season, but you can tell that he tried to give 110% when he wore that Cardinal uniform.

Houston. The Cardinals have Eckstein who is one of the best leadoff hitters in the game. He does not strike out very much and he just wears pitchers off. Albert Pujols is in that lineup and seeing him at the Cell is downright scary. The Cardinals are also good defensively. Molina has a cannon for an arm. Houston’s offense can be handled. Only players who I’d keep an eye on are Taveras and Berkman. That Taveras had about 70 infield hits this season! He’s quick as hell. The Oswalt-Clemens-Pettite trio does not scare me. Our offense has been beyond good. Our pitchers are pitching inside and are finding success. I have a lot more confidence in the Sox taking down the stros.

I absolutely adore the Cardinals but seeing Albert Pujols, one of the games best hitter, at the Cell, is just plain scary! The Astros have no one in their lineup that would be dangerous in the late innings for the exception of Berkman. Bring on the Astros!

I haven’t posted in this White Sox winner thread, which will surely be added to the archives section as one of the best postgame threads ever here at Soxtalk, and all I want to say is that I am glad that I’m alive to see the White Sox win the pennant! I am glad that I’m old enough to understand the game and be able to see something that is not seen very often. I am just 17 and hopefully this won’t be the last time something like this happens. My boss at work says he is very close to getting World Series tickets and that he’ll be more than happy to invite me to a game. I will definitely accept that invitation and hopefully I can observe history in the making, LIVE! Let’s not stop here, 2005 White Sox. You have gone so far and all you need is 4 MORE WINS. 2005 White Sox..... YES!!!!!!

October 14 - 16 1.) The Fog $12,200,000 2.) Wallace and Gromit: The Curse $11,700,000 of the Were-Rabbit 3.) Elizabethtown $11,000,000 4.) Flightplan $6,475,000 5.) In Her Shoes $6,100,000 With Halloween just around the corner, moviegoers made the horror remake The Fog the number once choice this weekend, as the box office continued its lackluster year. Fellow freshman Elizabethtown and Domino met with mixed results, while last week's champ Wallace & Gromit, had a strong hold.

Born and raised in the southside of Chicago. Lived on 32nd on Western. I used to go to almost every Saturday night game at the Cell, but since I've been here in Gary it hasn't been the same. I've been living here for almost 4 years.

Both teams are real good. The Cards have a good offense and some pretty good SP’s. The Astros have the pitching, but they’re offense can be their downfall. Just like us (not such spectacular offense) they have different guys who can come through in the clutch and put them ahead. I like both teams so it doesn’t matter who we face in the World Series.
