  1. Anyone a Phillip K. Dick fan? Asides from being the brains behind hit-movies like Total Recall and Minority Report, he also wrote Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? which one of my favorite sci-fi films of all time, Blade Runner, is based on. I’m not big into reading books after seeing the film adaptation, but I am curious about reading Blade Runner 2: The Edge of Human (written by a different author, K.W. Jeter) since Ridley Scott has been tossing around the idea of a sequel to the original.

    It's cold outside

To those who think it's fun to spend back-to-back days just sitting at home watching movies and random crap on TV, eating and drinking, and the occasional smoke break when the aggressive wind allowed, how do you do it?? I felt like I was losing my mind! I was at home since late Saturday night until finally a buddy of mine managed to get released from his job at the fire station this afternoon and took me to AutoZone to purchase a replacement battery for my car. I'm one to admit, I'm GLAD I GO BACK to work tomorrow!
  3. Just looked at my spring semester schedule and I appreciate 2012 more and more. I had so much free time and I took advantage of it. Hitting the weights and doing more cardio has given me a more proportionate look but it came at a price. One unrecognized value of training the way I did is the discipline I applied to myself. I'll use that to help stay focused and not make any excuses.
  4. I work for the IT department as a sysadmin in a university with well over 10k students and have yet to go a day without 'Googling' something. I'm in a field that requires efficient but timely solutions to services vital to students and staff. If I tried being creative, I'd probably screw things up more instead of reading an article or two from a Microsoft certified MVP. Picking up a 1000 page book on how to fully leverage Group Policy is not the most appealing answer either so I know I'm not being less creative I'm just thinking smart.
  5. I've read a couple of articles about how well he was perceived by his team-mates,g ave back to the community, and was a loving family man. It gives me the impression that he was a very nice guy. All in all he was still a human being with feelings for love, hate, etc. and is no longer here with us. Prayers go out to his family as I'm sure these holidays will be difficult.
  6. A.J. always kept our team an entertaining one to watch even when the team seemed all but out of it. One of the joys I enjoy watching is when players show a passionate fire inside of them to give it all they have for every game and A.J. is a prime example of having that special poise. Thank you for all the memories number 12!
  7. Born and raised in the McKinley Park area. 33rd and Bell Ave to be exact so not too far from Comiskey. Watching Frank Thomas on WGN and then being able to hear and watch the fireworks from my second floor bedroom was priceless. I'm very proud to be a south sider!
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) Crain is starting to look better. Otherwise, it's got to be Jones or s***, maybe even Veal? I'd go w/ Jones. Unlike Reed, he throws a mean 100mph fastball and Detroit has hardly seen him. Reed would get killed by the likes of Cabrera, Fielder, Hamilton, Granderson, etc. His 92-94mph fastball looks like a beach ball to those caliber-type of players.
  9. Ventura and the coaching staff seriously need to re-evaluate Reed. Forget that he was good in the first half and his rookie accomplishments, we're in a pennant race and we need our most efficient pitcher out there which IMO is Jones.
  10. The best thing happening for the Sox right now is getting out of Detroit and coming back home for a 10 game home stand. That and keeping Matt Thornton out of critical situations. All jokes aside, there's only two more off-days so there's not much room for guys to get hurt, have mental breakdowns, or worry about scoreboard results. It's time to TCOB.

Surprised to see no one has made a thread yet . . . No love for the older folks?
