  1. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) KW= Blah Terry Ryan= GOD Hugh Difference. KW = 1 World Series Ring Terry Ryan = 0 World Series Rings Huge Difference.
  2. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) im not comparing him to Pods, I didnt say he would be our best OFer going into next year. His defense definitely has to factor into the equation, if he is giving up runs by being that bad I see a problem. I think KW could do better than putting WMP in the OF next year It depends on who they put in CF next year. Someone who can cover ground and can get good jumps. Hunter comes to mind. Not that they are going to shell out the dough...but a good CF can definitely shore up the corner spots. And the Red Sox are doing just fine with Manny being Manny out there in LF. Damon was good when he was with them and Crisp can throw the leather. Fields/Hunter/WMP wouldn't be great, but it'd be better.
  3. Sad...but he's no longer in pain. They need to name a trophy or something for him. He absolutely changed the way football is played. RIP.
  4. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) Haha...now they are saying the Red Sox don't want to give up either Masterson or Delcarman. Tell Boston to go pound sand. Can Kenny keep his job now???
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) Hmm, Texas getting Saltamacchia also improves the Cubs chances of dealing for Mahay and Laird. I wonder if Pie will end up being another "One who got away"? Mahay is going to Atlanta with Tex.
  6. Where's redandwhite? Shouldn't he be chiming in on this rumor???
  7. Depending on who starts in CF next year, Pena might not be a bad pickup. He's never had a shot at starting full time. Never gotten 500 ab's in a season. And Delcarmen's having a pretty good year with an ERA under 3. HOw about a Fields-Hunter-Pena OF? Richar would lead off, btw.
  8. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) A relief pitcher and a bad outfielder for Dye? If we do Delcarman and Pena for Dye with no less than 5 teams showing interest in Dye it would be mind-boggling. You're assuming that the other teams are offering what the White Sox want. This could be the best we are getting for Dye. I think this is one of those wash situations. No winner, no loser.
  9. Southsider...I agree with you. What would the city's skyline be if people b****ed about Mies Van Der Rohe, Louis Sullivan, Skidmore, etc. Things like the Spire, Aqua, etc. make Chicago what it is. Except for that one building on Wacker just north of Randolph...that thing is a monstrosity!!!
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) One of Vick's co-defendants has entered a guilty plea and is supposedly going to cooperate with the government. Vick is f***ed...plain and simple.
  11. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 11:50 AM) from Roto: Bears acquired DT Darwin Walker from the Bills in exchange for an undisclosed 2008 draft pick. Buffalo likely got a fifth-round pick or better from Chicago; the Bills would've received a sixth-rounder had Walker continued to hold out of training camp and had his rights revert to the Eagles. Walker will add depth and a proven pass-rushing interior presence behind Tommie Harris in Chicago. Dusty Dvoracek is still the favorite to start. can someone explain why? I like what I have seen from Dusty. But, Darwin is a HUGE upgrade over tank and should not be on the 2nd line. For the same reason Thomas Jones and Briggs were "second-stringers" last year. Walker's new and Dusty's been in the system for a year and camp just started. But, by the time the first game rolls around...Walker will be the starting DT.
  12. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 10:42 AM) Wow, deja vu. This comes up every year it seems with the same list of teams mentioned. Guess what, it's not happening. I think that this is a story that they throw out there once a year and wonder if it will stick this year or not. The issue came up again because of the Big Ten Network. If they can get a top TV market, then the cable companies might give in to the BTN and put them on expanded cable, and not a sports package you'd have to pay extra for. Also, on Mike and Mike this morning (sans Mike and Mike since they were recovering from the hangover of ArenaBowl XXI), I caught the end of this convo and they had mentioned Rutgers as that team. I'm not sure how good of a school that would be, but with the football team on the rise and a natural rivalry with Penn State, not to mention getting them into the NYC/Phila markets, it might not be a bad move. Cons: Basketball...not so good. Not sure about other sports. Also, might suffer from BC-itis...meaning too far from the hub of Big Ten athletics.
  13. This just puts all the pressure back onto Rex. Now that Briggs and Walker are in the fold, the only "weakness" is QB. (It's in quotes because it may or may not be a weakness. Pep Hamilton might be the Bears best signing.)
  14. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) Man we are in trouble with no RF!! It worked for The King and His Court.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) We could also trade him straight up for A-rod to play SS.. Both are unlikely to happen though. This is the kind of no-name throw-in that gets tossed into trades. No where did I ever say Team X told us, we will send you "Best Player on our Team" but you have to get Michael Dubee. DAMMIT PEOPLE!!! If someone has an opinion, it's just that, an opinion. Not fact.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) Why would some other team want him? We did.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) Oh grief, can we please stop this line of thinking now. We kept saying this about every guy we acquired last offseason, and rarely does that quick turnaround happen. So are you saying that it couldn't happen? Because, well, it can. Not saying it will...but it can.
  18. Dubee might also be part of a bigger package before the deadline, too. Ya never know.
  19. *waving goodbye* Goo-bye Tadahito Iguchi!!! We ruv you!!!!
  20. Soooo, where does Lofton play? Is he just a 4th OF???
  21. I use this great cologne...it's called: Le Soap.
  22. If it were buried in the Loop or West Loop, I think I wouldn't like it as much, but considering where it is, right at the River/Lake convergence, I think it's going to look great there. It's tall, but it's not wide. So, it won't block that much. I'm looking forward to it. I like it...Burj Dubai...not so much.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) Upon signing top 5 pick DE Gaines Adams yesterday, the Bucs released Simeon Rice. Of course he's a local kid from Chicago and went to Illinois, and the Bears DE pass rush last year was a weakness. Now I know Bazuin was a 2nd round pick, but Alex Brown sounds like he really wants to get out of town (demanded a trade even IIRC), and you can get Rice not too expensive. He is 33 and coming off an 8 game, 2 sack year. But check out his other years in Tampa sackwise: 14, 12, 15, 15.5, 11, and of course a Super Bowl ring. He is a bit older at 33, but he's a veteran, has 121 sacks, and I bet would sign here. There are already rumors the Bears, Colts, and Lions have shown interest btw. So, what do you think Bears fans? IMO this team is in need moreso of a DT than a DE right now, but if Alex Brown is truly on his way out this training camp, you have to take a look at Rice. I mean Mark Anderson had a great rookie year, but Adewale has underachieved, Bazuin is a ? mark, I mentioned Alex Brown, and heck Ogunleye's huge salary is a candidate to be a cap casualty even if Brown's attitude improves and Ogunleye continues to look meh in camp. Part of the reason the Bucs dumped him was he failed a physical. If his shoulder isn't better, then no. Or if they think he can help in the second half of the season, then maybe.
  24. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) Now, this has no bearing at all, and it's just what I would like to see. No way it would ever happen. Missouri to the Big 10. Arkansas to the Big 12. FSU to the SEC. FSU in the SEC West with Bama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss and Miss State would be awesome. Oh well, a guy could dream. Anyways, realistically I think about Pitt joining he Big 10 for the market, but who knows. No way Pitt leaves the Big East and it's Backyard Brawl. Louisville would be great for both BB and FB. But I'll throw this out there, even though academically and FB wise, it might not be best, but what about Memphis? Looking at the Division I-A map, it looks like Mizzou or Louisville are the best bets, but do you think they make the grade...literally and figuratively??? Division I-A map (I luuuuv Wikipedia)
  25. While I understand people like Dye and Pods and what they have brought to the Sox...Pods is waaaaay to injury prone. So, no to him. Dye is iffy. I don't think we should bring him back. But, if he's the best FA on the market...why not? If the Sox definitely won't pay a Hunter or even a Jones the money, which they probably won't, then why not. I'm still not sure about CF for next year, but I do believe that Fields will be in LF and my opinion is Sweeney will be in RF. I would love for the Sox to sign a Hunter or Andruw Jones for defensive purposes between those two, but it probably won't happen.
