Post all the players you would trade for or sign this offseason and let's see what the salary would be for this year. this should answer a lot of questions as to why the players you want to sign wouldn't work. s***, I'd love to sign Pavano, Clement and Perez...keep carlos...add Scott Podsednik...Edgar Renteria...etc. Your signings would push this team to $100 million and that ain't gonna happen. Hell, the Cubs aren't even there.

Me too. If KW was willing to trade CLee for Wade...AND his arm really is on sked for ST, than you have to believe he has already called Miller's agent. Miller and AJ and one of Reese, Eck, Cairo, Cora and I'm happy.
-
very true...but wasn't it in the Houston Chronicle article that Dr. Yocum already stated his shoulder would be ready by ST? I may have misread. EDIT: Here it is:
-
Me too...and as I think was said earlier in this thread, the Sox trust Dr. Yocum. I'm sure they will call both Miller and Yocum to see how the arm is progressing. I hope that shoulder is good, cuz he would look great in a Sox uni.
-
Maybe the Sox should change uniform colors again...just for the year, blue, green and teal. We'll change the team name to the Chicago Seahawks, win the WS and promptly put an asterisk next the win because TECHNICALLY they weren't the white Sox.
-
How do you know that? even if we can't get him this year...we could do what the Yanks did with Lieber...write off this year if his shoulders bad and start him next year.
-
I wonder if Maggs is kicking himself for hiring Boras. Granted, he didn't know he'd be injured when he hired him, but if I were Maggs, I'd be asking my agent, Why am i not getting the offers you told me I would get? Why wasn't I offered arb?
-
I wonder if Miller is still injured. Do the Astros know something? If not, I'd love to have him on the South Side. And Cora.
-
signed to a two-year contract...doesn't specify money. Also signed Chris Gomez. FYI.
-
Steve Kline to the Orioles per ESPN.com (didn't think it deserved another thread)
-
don't pop that arm out patting yourself on the back...
-
They must, because they are faster than the Cubune website and ESPN.

Rotoworld seems to be the first with info...where do they get theirs? I was just curious.

What they said.

It wasn't Illinois' fault...they signed on to be part of that Las Vegas Classic and Longwood is a part of that tournament, as is Cincy and NW State. -
Sorry Josh, the thinker isn't working today.

How about Cecil Cooper, Joe Ogilvie or Teddy Figueroa?

I compare FA signings to ebay. There are certain things that are priceless...things that I would pay anything for. and then there are the things that would be nice to have, but I have a cap on what I'm willing to pay. Then there are the bargains/steals... In baseball, there are very few of the first. There are some where I'd be willing to go higher than I can normally afford, but I'd still have a cap (Beltran, A-Rod, etc.). Most fall into the second category. Clement is in that category. I think $7 mil a year is more than adequate for Matt Clement. If the Red Sox want to overpay, that's their business. Vizquel is in this category. If the Giants want to guarantee a third year for a 38 yo player, that's their business. But you know that Mariotti would be screaming bloody murder if we signed these two guys to the contracts that they agreed to and then didn't produce or got injured. i can see it now... "The White Sox organization should have known that Clement's arm was going to literally fall off and that Vizquel's hips were going to break before they signed them to the HUGE contracts. It's time for the Reinsdorfians to sell the team." Mariotti is just doing his job by stirring things up, but it pisses off the smart people who pay attention, because he is constantly contradicting himself. What a dope.

Remember Shane Spencer a couple of years ago. Borchard could be a good injury replacement for a couple of months or playoffs, if we get there.
-
Damn, I was hoping for Gorman Thomas.
-
I hope you are right...

Everett isn't better than Green, but Marte is much better than Brazoban. So what you lose in one player, you gain in another. Although, Green isn't as good as he once was, he could rejuvenate his career, but so could Everett, he's only 33 or 34. They still get a decent starter, and excellent reliever that could close for them and a serviceable OF. They've already set their table if that's what they were going to take from the Dodgers.

C'mon...who needs a hug? Really, it wasn't directed towards you. It's a gradual build up of this sort of post.

For the same reason you want to sign Cabrera: 962 3516 440 944 233 23 72 412 244 321 97 30 .268 .316 .409 .725 Yeah, that's average and OBP Uribe: 448 1657 228 440 90 27 47 209 91 331 28 15 .266 .307 .438 .744 Hey look...very close...and cheaper. MUCH CHEAPER!!!

why plus 1? That's pretty much what the D'backs wanted.
