QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) That and the whole wasting draft after draft after draft and failing to develop pitching worth a damn thing. But they gave a try-out to those two Indian cricket players... /green-ish -
QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Minny and California have embraced Kinky-like candidates, I just do not see Texas following Not a chance in hell. Adios, mofo.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) I guess they really believe that they won't let them shut it down, but evidence all across the country tells me otherwise. Its not a gamble worth making in an industry that is shrinking quicker than steel in the 90's. You ask any outsourcing specialist and they will say that's not a gamble to take in any industry. It's always best to have a job while you look for a better one. Suck it up, take the pay cut and start looking. As an unemployee, I get real sick of stories like this or people complaining about their jobs. Because it's like life, it's certainly better than the alternative.

QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) Kinky Friedman should get more votes than he does. People just do not appreciate satire, sarcasm, and wit. Look at your state...if the whole state was like Austin, Kinky woulda been a 5 term governor by now.

Anyone going to the rally in the Daley Center? Maybe they'll have an Oprah-style flash mob if we win. And remember, hosting the Olympics is a small fraternity of cities. Chicago, like it or not, will always be considered an "Olympic City" which is an impressive feat (if not a mostly empty title).

This note came from Brooks Boyer. I took a shot and emailed him about jobs. He forwarded my info on to the HR person, and two others whom I would work with/for. I thanked him and told him that I was shocked he wrote me back considering it was the middle of the season, he's busy, etc. etc. This is what he wrote and why I will always be a White Sox fan and a Brooks Boyer fan:

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 02:02 PM) Brooks doesnt strike me as the type to ignore a letter. Even if he cant do anything for you, I bet he responds to you I sent him an email and he responded to me. Took a while, but he did.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) Greater investment in the markets doesn't mean much if the unemployment rate is at almost 10% and still rising. People who are out of work or are in fear of losing their jobs tend to not spend money on extras like baseball tickets. You're also not accounting for the inflation that will hit in another year or so after all of the excess money that the Fed has printed over the past year and a half floods the market. The current interest rates are so low that the Fed can't lower them further to fight the impending inflation. In addition, our over-dependence on investment from overseas (especially China) will mandate that interest rates will increase, which will further weaken the economy. These two factors very well may trigger another recession in 2011. I agree and disagree. As one of the 10%, I still would buy game day tickets. I can't and won't buy season tickets or a package, but I would still buy tickets to a couple of games a year if I can. Also, I believe unemployment rates have leveled off and actually went down in Illinois last month. In fact, I know of many people that have gotten jobs in the last month and all of a sudden I have two, possibly three interviews this week.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) Yeah, I was going more for the custody side of things, but I am sure the docs and the clinic are done for. I know you were...just solidifying my point. And I hope the docs and clinic workers have their license revoked and blacklisted. Disgusting.

Citizens: They aren't called Representatives for nothing. Government. And related JUST to the anti-Hillary movie...I'm guessing that's because there wasn't equal time?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 09:46 AM) Honestly the clinic is probably lucky there was religion involved, or this would have been one long and ugly lawsuit process. There will be anyway...involving the clinic. I hope they throw those "doctors" in pound-you-in-the-ass prison.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ins't the most popular person in Iran right now, but if bombed that will all change. Our foreign policy with Iran has been a complete disaster. Maybe we should try something different this time. He isn't the most popular person anywhere after his UN antics. I know there are plenty of crazies out there...but politicians usually aren't the ones you have to worry about. It's a no win situation for all governments involved...the question is always...Why now?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) Why didn't South Korea get the bid in 2010 with a 51% 1st round vote result? That's not percentage, it's amount of votes.
