QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) That's certainly one plausible way to look at the data. It's also entirely plausible that Jose was red hot because he was being caught by Castro, and his slump resumed when AJ resumed catching him. Castro caught him last time out, in which Count sucked. And not too long before that in which he was brutal again. It's no secret that Contreras just flat out sucks now. I'm praying for some divine intervention today.

What is your general feeling about the White Sox?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 05:39 AM) Kenny, I like you and I think we're getting testy here. I'm sorry that my tone in my previous post was condescending, but I'm in a foul mood. My core argument is that the Red Sox are less likely to swing at some of Garcia's bad pitches then the Royals were. Their numbers stand testament to it. I was at the game, and sitting at an awkward angle to really judge Freddy's performance, but I agree with this. It looked like the Royals were swinging at a ton of s*** pitches. Everyone around me said the same. And yet he still didn't pitch well. -

I just got home from the game. No one takes the energy out of the crowd like Freddy does. -

QUOTE (Hollywood_AU @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 03:39 AM) Especially since his arm is fine, he really doesn't even need the AAA starts. Just give him the entire offseason to rest up and get ready for 2010. No need to do anything the organization might regret. Uh, no. If it's not his arm, then it shouldn't matter. If he's fine to pitch, he's fine to pitch. Don't p**** him in. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) Dwayne Wise Placed on Disabled List By Jason Gage SoxNet.net No word on when/how the injury occured, It's imaginary so he can survive until rosters are expanded. He lives another day.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) He has done some good things in very important situations. Whether or not clutchness is a special skill, he has some track record for coming through in big moments....other guys are known for doing it only when it doesnt matter. His line in innings 7-9 is .210/.249/.406. His line in late and close situations is .209/.233/.372. He is actually somehow worse than he usually is when put in "big moments".

How is basketball on it?

We have three above average defenders and they go by the names of Alex Rios, Paul Konerko, and Jayson Nix. I would struggle to call anyone else even average, save for Kotsay who I have to see enough of and Ramon Castro.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 12:01 AM) This season, prior to today, his ERA in save situations was 3.49, non-save situations was 4.26. Not terrible, but not good. But he's only had 13 innings in non-save situations; like 1 or 2 runs is a huge difference. It's been a longer problem than this year. His BAa and OBPa rise sharply in non-situations and his K/BB ratio falls. After he lost some of his velocity, I doubt a pitcher relies more on adrenaline than Bobby and it really shows. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) Since the AS Break we're #10 in MLB in runs scored. We're up to #14 in MLB on the season despite the dreadful start. It's never been the overall number, it's always been the execution. Our late in game splits are just brutal, as everyone would have already guessed. It's Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde, except we're not all that great to begin with. -

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) had nix been called out on that, ozzie probably would have bodyslammed an ump I don't know where he gets that rep, because Ozzie argues less than anyone in baseball it seems. I missed the 8th inning "bad" call though. Anyone want to tell me what happened? -
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) I think he was pretty much in-between the other night. He wasn't horses***. He was pitching pretty well but finally wasn't quite good enough to pitch over multiple mistakes by the defense. No he was awful and his pitches had nothing.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 05:53 AM) I'm not impressed with this A's team. Why is it 7-7? I just got in to tune in. Has it been ugly? You don't want to know....but we were up 6-0. Count, D, execution has been terrible tonight as usual.
