God ESPN, stop hyping Algeria getting a result (they're saying needing a win, no less) as a must for the US. Hell, it's probably better if England wins straight up.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) There is no playoff. If they end up tied in everything, then they draw lots to see who advances. I believe it happened once before in the 90s. The rules say there will be a playoff as long as scheduling works out.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) Horrible call, but have to focus on the next game. Basically if they win against Nigeria by 2, they should be in the next round no matter what other circumstances happen. I guess you want Nigeria to beat England, which would then force England to have to beat Slovenia, and give the US an automatic berth if they beat Nigeria. Algeria. But US should just have to win. England is not losing or tying either of their next two.

e3 going on now. Nintendo's Wii line-up looks pretty sick. Zelda, GoldenEye, Epic Mickey, Metroid Other M, Kirby, Retro's Donkey Kong Country 4. Epic Mickey in particular is looking like the game of the show. Microsoft bombed all over the place.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:57 AM) Fine. The Sox's offense this year is barely, barely below the relative offense output of the 2005 world series champs. They finished the season 9th in offense; we're 10th right now. Feint praise, unfortunately.

Not beating Ocarina of Time is a sin. Far and away the best video game of all-time and will probably be that way forever.

Gamethread: White Sox(16-24) vs Marlins (22-20) 7:10 PM
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 21, 2010 -> 11:57 PM) With a fight that big and obvious, how does it take Security that long to get there? It's even worse than what the video shows. The jawing had been going on for four innings before all hell broke loose. There was even a scuffle/huge confrontation between the big curly haired guy and the guy who hit him two innings before...security came down and threw out a big group that wasn't even involved. It was clear to everyone around that something huge was going to happen...it did, yet it took about 5 minutes for security to get there. Terrible. All in all though I'd say about 50 some people got kicked out yesterday in that section alone. Really cleared out.

I hope they release these all in a box set. I have yet to see a bad one yet. Even ones I had low expectations for like the fantasy baseball ones ended up being my favorite.

Is ESPN.com getting location sensitive? I felt weird going there and seeing 3 out of their 4 top stories were the Hawks, Jake Peavy and Del Negro. The other was the Celtics.

QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) You make a good point. Now having seen Q in both left and right... if he's going to play the field, they should definitely play him where he'll do the least damage... which suggests moving him back to left. If both Jones and Quentin are playing corners during a game, there is absolutely no good reason to play Quentin at the more challenging defensive position. If I were managing, I'd install Jones as my regular right fielder... and have Quentin DH and occasionally play LF. Q is a natural rightfielder. I don't know what you remember, but he wasn't particularly good in rightfield. On an individual level, Q definitely belongs in right. But I still do believe the right move would be Pierre/Rios/Jones across. That's a pretty elite defensive outfield right there. Or switch Jones and Rios for those who believe Jones is still an elite CF (which many people do).

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread
There was a game between SIU/UI scheduled for last season but cancelled at the very last second due to scheduling conflicts. Weber has actually always been open to playing SIU, but Lowery always wanted a return game. I'm not sure if that's the exact reason it has always been held up, but there's no reason for the Illini to give a return game. They're doing the favor of playing SIU to begin with.
