QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) For God's sake...ESPN isn't a monopoly. They were, for baseball, until this year. Go over to MLBTV. It's vastly more balanced. They give even games between last place teams a fair shake. They do it for a reason; because ESPN doesn't. They're literally trying to serve the rest of the fans. Stop complaining about it and change the channel. Some of us don't get MLBN. Actually, I would guess a lot of people don't.

It's too bad we never got to see Frank charge the mound. The pitcher would have s*** his pants on site.

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 07:07 AM) I like to think him and jim thome will be two players that go to the Hall of Fame that we know for sure did not do anything illegal to there bodies.

Personally, I love them taking what the rogue Balco worker said (Ortiz could have simply taken supplements and tested positive in 2003) and using it as some sort of near absolute proof that he was clean.

LOL at Youk getting dropped by someone he has all the momentum and 20 pounds on.

Rios should have played tonight.

QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) How would you classify this as one of his worst? Sweeney is always hurt and does nothing when he isn't. DLS is hurt. Gio is still young and has some solid promise. Book's still open on this one though. It qualifies as one of his worst because KW, quite frankly, doesn't have too many "worsts". I'm not losing any sleep over what we gave up, but Swisher was still a major failure here.

My top 10, excluding extensions: 1. Jermaine Dye for 2 years, 10.15 million 2. Loaiza dealt for Jose Contreras 3. Loaiza on a minor league contract 4. Acquiring Bobby Jenks off waivers 5. Signing AJP to a 3 year deal 6. Gracia for Floyd 7. BMac for Danks 8. Olivo, Morse, Reed for Ben Davis and Freddy Garcia 9. Aaron Rowand and company for Jim Thome 10. The drafting and handling of one Gordon Beckham. Should be making it's way to number 1 soon enough. Other favorites include Pods both times around, Borchard for Thorton, Aaron Miles for Juan Uribe, and getting Jurassic the 2nd time around (sure he was a terrible three hitter, but he was our terrible 3 hitter for a time on a World Championship team). His worst: 1. Kip Wells, Sean Lowe, and Josh Fogg for Todd Ritchie 2. Ryan Sweeney, Gio Gonzalez and Fautino de los Santos for Nick Swisher Off the top of my head, these would be the only two you could classify as very bad.

White Sox sign Jermaine Dye to a 10.15 million, 2 year contract should be just about everyone's favorite.

QUOTE (suicidesqueeze @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) The bigger point is that Pods should not play CF for us, period, unless of catastrophic injury or something like that. He has killed us out there with the glove. He should not play RF either, period. If that means we cut ties with him, so be it.

If he can avoid the bad month, Alexei is still an above average player despite his defensive shortcomings. He's also young and cheap. Trading for a more proven, more expensive veteran third baseman would be a lateral move at best. I would not be against another position change for him. -
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) Pods starts in RF God no.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 06:41 AM) even though it's the one game where fans really have an actual direct role to play, What?

QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 03:12 AM) I've learned too many times in the past few seasons to never count this team out. What team have you been watching this year? We are the worst late inning, from behind team in baseball. -
Upper deck ticks will not allow you to roam around the bottom deck. Bottom deck does not have a bad seat, so it's a matter of preference. Also, beef sandwiches at the place in the rightfield corner. You won't find better ballpark food than at the Cell, but the beef sandwiches are a must.

Saturday, August 15, 2009 Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks Cleveland Indians at Minnesota Twins Not there. I assume the game is blackout due to Fox contracts. I assume Oakland's telecast would be blacked out too, so I'm not sure why they scheduled it for then. -
How do you miss Ken Griffey?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 02:46 AM) The walk ups were for $9 tickets. They have been sitting on money. For 3 of the 10 games....We had good attendance through the weekend too.
-
Jerry approved of this deal because of our attendance, per KW. We were at just over 90 million this year for our payroll this year before Peavy and Rios. We might not only be looking at that insane amount of money off the books, but also a general increase in payroll for next year, as I doubt the doomsday expectations were met. Regardless people worried about the money are being ridiculous.
-
Looks fair to me.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 02:28 AM) Rosenthal said last offseason you could have signed Abreu, Hudson, Branyan and Adam Everett and still had $800 k left over for one season of what Rios would be averaging. Hudson is earning like 8 million this year, so I doubt that. Unless you wanted to sign him and have him never play a game. Edit: ehh, beaten.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 01:14 AM) Next offseason will be the same or worse. Probably worse as the FA class is pretty weak. Even the Yankees are making teams eat money. So which under 30 centerfield from said FA class would you want?
