  1. I don't think the "better games" discussion will be much of one after this Winter. Developers are heavily leaning towards PS3 now which makes me believe the PS3 would certainly be the better long term investment.
  2. I don't want him taking up a roster spot, but sign him to be on staff. I love him too much to see him go.
  3. They'll only all get better as they enter their primes.
  4. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) All you told me is that he has a lot of balls hit to him (The Sox aren't quite a strikeout staff,) and usually makes a lot of those plays. Which is all you can ask, no? I'm certainly not asking him to go get balls over at 3B or 2b( but hey, if you wanted to know, he's tops in the AL at getting balls out of his zone as well). He plays his position better than anyone in the AL. EDIT: Also, we we're 3rd in the league in strikeouts. Hardly not a "strikeout staff".
  5. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) his defense isn't even GOOD. He's an AVERAGE SS. He topped the AL in Zone rating and range factor and was 4th in fielding percentage. That is just a lie.
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 08:47 PM) Thome go bye bye. He cant catch up to the inside heat anymore. You're essentially replacing a guy who has put up OPS's of .865 and .973 the past two years with guys with career OPS's of .655 and .638.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) Where is Thome going? Vacation? Fixed.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) Brad Penny Juan Pierre Luis Castillo Casey Blake You can argue about Pierre and Anderson, but I think taking a flier on Penny isn't the worst move in the world, and has a definite upside. These seem to be the type of moves that KW typically makes, maybe not THESE specific moves, but it's his style. Not the big signing of CC or Dempster. Castillo's a better fit for this club than Getz in 09, and Casey Blake is a solid, .800 OPS 3B. Maybe Nomar wouldn't be a better "supersub" than Uribe, but he can play every position on the infield...not unlike Ozuna. Your math is bad.
  9. Did anyone watch this tonight? It was so awesome. The American champ went on to take home Bronze in Beijing, and took home $50,000. What a great sport.
  10. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 04:32 AM) Javier Vazquez and Paul Konerko for Chone Figgins, Jose Arredondo and Nick Adenhart. Javier Vazquez is not going to a West coast team.

  12. Thinking about making the 16 hour drive for the UNC/ND game.
  13. -Sign/Trade for a middle infielder(OC would probably be the easiest route) -Do whatever it takes to get Chone Figgins. I can't imagine overpaying for him because I can't imagine any group of players in our organization, minus the obvious, that would be overpaying for any sort of top notch every-dayer. He kills about ten birds with one stone. -Trade Javy Beyond that I don't really care. We need one more starter and there should be plenty of options there.
  14. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:43 AM) He's coming off a 3 year-$39 million deal. Define "cheap." Key word coming off. He's coming off a bad year in 2007 and played 36 games in 2008. Depending on his market value, I'd definitely take a long look at him.
  15. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:03 AM) I'd take Furcal in a heartbeat if the price is right. Plus the draft pick from OC. I would probably jump on the Furcal bandwagon too, especially if he can show he's at where he was from 2003-06. We could maybe get him for cheap. Though as a SS, I want to make sure he's going to play 160+ games for me, this coming off a season in which he played 36.
  16. QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:47 AM) i dont really dont think this thread has anything to do with him "being a cancer" (which i don't believe he is) its more that he is 1.) old 2.) overrated defensively 3.) overrated offensively (no power, weak on base skills, not a huge threat on the bases) and 4.) will get alot of money if we could sign him to a 1 year 4 million dollar deal i would certainly do that, but he will probably be looking for 3 years in the neighborhood of 20 mil (at the minimum i would think), and for that id way rather have the draft picks First I'd like to say I'm not even condoning signing him, but it's clear that a lot of people here hate OC and not simply because we aren't going to resign him this offseason. I mean, you could take most of those number points and apply it to a lot of players here, but no one is going to start a bash thread against them. As for a potential future here, I wouldn't mind it. The 2B class is flat-out terrible, minus Hudson who is going to cost quite the coin. I'd prefer a SS anyways as Alexei's range doesn't figure to be very good. So again looking at the FA market, it doesn't look too hot, and OC would probably be the best option, unless you're a Rafeal Furcal fan. Either that or we have a huge middle infield hole next year.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:44 AM) Me and Joe Cowley and Jermaine Dye and others, I guess. Jeremaine and OC were having quite the time yesterday before the game just outside the dugout.
  18. I'm sure someone will claim inside knowledge on why OC is such a cancer. But before they do, I'd like to say that is clearly not evident on the surface.
  19. A guy who is often seen loosening up the boys, dancing with other players before games, and the first to celebrate another's home run. He shows more passion than most of the rest of the team combined. It's a lack of that that we often complain about from other players. What a cancer.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:46 AM) Supposedly the Angels hate Chone, as he's a prick in the clubhouse. I'm fearful KW's going to severely overpay for him. Avoiding major league talent, there is no possible way we could overpay for him. Heck avoiding the obvious, there is no possible way we could overpay for him.
  21. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:39 AM) how long have we been harping on this organization to get us some fast+high OBP guys, a leadoff hitter, and a CF and it never happens, year after year? Trade the franchise for Chone and kill ten birds with one stone.
  22. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:33 AM) We should have an outfield of Bonds, Griffey, and Sheffield next year with Thome as the DH. lol we'd give up like 8 runs a game with that outfield. Move Carlos Jermaine to Shortstop and THQ to 3rd base.
  23. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:22 AM) how bout we trade KW and the keys to the city of Chicago for theo epstein? God no. He's made some terrible moves and has no reserves about players and roids.
