Should fans 'Blackout' Opening Day?
Should be done every game. Those who think it would water it down by doing that are flat out wrong. Look no further than Penn State football or Illinois basketball. Seeing a solid one color never gets old.

Would the Sox retire Tom Seaver's number?
QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 02:00 AM) Why honor Baines, Fisk and Minoso then? They had success elsewhere as well. Minoso and Baines were undoubtedly better with the Sox and Fisk is arguably with either team. With Maddux, it isn't remotely close.

The worst is the 5 second delayed calls once they realize Griffin didn't get his way. The crowd started to brutalize them though and UM getting some calls now.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) 29andPoplar banned made me laugh for some reason. He was JimH, IIRC, along with a few other names. Guy was addicted to creating message board drama.

Well, we only do two things well. Pass the ball and play top-notch defense. When you lose a PG that is also your best defender, that is going to hurt. A lot. Brock will see 30+ minutes though and he's a top notch defender himself so hopefully he can counteract that part of it. That said, WKU just is not a good basketball team. We should win win ease regardless, but you never know with this team.

I love our draw here. We hadn't had much hope entering the tourney, but WKU isn't exactly a great 12 seed. If we lose, it'll be because of ourselves. Tisdale should be able to feast, and they'll also being showing a zone versus us. The Zags out in Portland isn't too much fun, but we would definitely have a chance. Their resume outside of beating on WCC opponents is not exactly great.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 11, 2009 -> 06:46 AM) Cubano, this question may come off ignorant and naive, which I'm sorry if it does, it's just I don't know anything about how this works. What keeps the players from trying to defect when they're in Mexico? Do they have guards with them at all times? Cubano posted a few pages back. They have heavy, heavy security on them. They aren't allowed to do anything, like leave the hotel.

It's more to get Mills some minutes. But getting to 26 wins won't hurt either.

Canada laid a big egg against Italy today and was eliminated...only 2 runs with that line-up. Monreau made up for his choke job by going 4-5. Only 12k in attendance. Netherlands versus the DR part 2 tomorrow.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 7, 2009 -> 11:03 PM) Yep. They deserve credit for playing great basketball at home, but get them out of Columbia and they aren't much to write home about. There are other teams that also fit that description, but I don't think any to the degree of Missouri. They are just about done being overrated now though I think, they'll fall into that 15 or so range in the polls with today's loss, which might still be a few spots high but is pretty close to accurate. The tourney selection people look at individual resumes, not so much where you place in conference. In fact, they supposedly don't even pay attention to conference affiliation at all. I think everyone realizes that at this point, but some might wonder if conference affiliation subconsciously affects a team's chances, and they may just be right.

Canada has a pretty decent shot at coming out. The core of that line-up is as good as most's.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 7, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) the fact that hawkins is on this team is a joke....jeter over rollins? Jeter is the face of USA baseball. No surprise there. I'm guessing him and Chipper are co-captains. And what is Hawkins doing on this team is right.
