  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 10:10 PM) I can't believe people are that pissed about us not filling every need people wanted filled this off-season. We upgraded 3, probably 4 positions. 3B, 2B, C, and you could probably say SS or DH as another one with the options we have now. It isn't often that teams hit every single need in an off-season. For me right now, it's the complete lack of any type of security in case Avi and LaRoche continue to be two of the worst players in baseball.
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) Avi finally swung at the 7th pitch he saw of the day. Stood taller, but still collapsed big time on the offspeed pitch. Had a nice swing on a fastball away, but got sawed off by an inside fastball.
  3. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 08:51 PM) Exactly how I take it, which pisses me off. Why try & go for it when you're that strapped? It's not like we can say "It's not Hahn's fault that they don't have money", when he signed two extremely stupid deals last year that have hurt them this year. If they fail, they need to clean house. This is such a poorly run organization, it's borderline embarrassing being a fan sometimes. I've said this before, and some have challenged it, but Hahn has been a disappointment so far as GM. If this team struggles again, it's time to move on from him and Ventura. Hahn has put a bunch of junk on the field so far while seeing the farm system continue to be mediocre. Lucky for him that the draft slotting system changed, or who knows what they would have drafted instead of Rodon.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 09:45 PM) Truly, truly surprised that going into the offseason with zero flexibility to increase payroll, they decided to go for it instead of offload some key pieces and look for value. To me, it also means their attempts to get the big outfielders was more for public perception than anything else.
  5. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) Hahn is basically saying what we all suspected. They are done until the trade deadline. Still think they add a 4th outfielder. If not, Hahn should go when Ventura gets canned.
  6. Not necessarily promising: Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 3m3 minutes ago Scottsdale, AZ One more from Hahn, and not in today's story: "Whether it’s trade or free agent that we feel is going to get us better, I feel like ... Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 2m2 minutes ago Scottsdale, AZ Hahn: "..we were aggressively involved until it became clear it wasn’t going to work out, that they were going to wind up somewhere else."
  7. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) We're f***ing doomed if that is a 'financial stretch'. +1
  8. Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 1m1 minute ago Scottsdale, AZ Hahn: "Look, we accomplished many of our goals. There is always more you can do. That's the way we are going about our business now."
  9. QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) Danks already in midseason form If he tanks in ST and Johnson/Latos look good, it could create a tough call for the Sox
  10. Very interesting lineup. Didn't think Lawrie could possibly bat 2nd.
  11. Dyson hurt for KC. That would suck if it causes Royals to sign AJax
  12. At this point, Hoiberg looks way worse in his first season than Trestman
  13. Frazier did say on the radio today that Hahn is still working on things
  14. Judging by twitter, the Orioles might need another outfielder after Trumbo misplayed a few balls in RF today. Crazy how quiet things are with regards to the Sox and another outfielder.
  15. Melky hit line drives all year while batting lefty. Problem was for most of the season, he lacked the power to get his line drives to go over the head of outfielders.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 05:29 PM) I just want to go on record to say that San Andreas was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It made my head hurt. Yep, and they're going to make a sequel out of it. Hard to make a bad movie with the cast they had...but they did.
  17. I'm shocked that the Score is going off on Eaton for this....not.
  18. I have a hard time imagining Ray slipping to 10, especially with some of the top starting pitchers struggling out of the gates.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) Think about this for a second, if Rollins makes the big league roster, he will get paid $2M. The Rangers are paying Ian $8. Split the difference and for $6M more (and of course a draft pick) the Sox could have had Ian. Please note, the expectation / hope from the front office perspective appears to be that Rollins will make the team. Now I don't know if Ian would have taken $8M to play with the Sox and remain at shortstop (or if we would have contemplated any scenario where we'd have signed him to play in the outfield). Everything seems to be coming back to the money factor with the Sox. It's either that or they have their remaining budget tied to a particular player they're interested in.
  20. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/704380056462708736 Still looks like a little dip at the very end during the swing.
  21. First thought looking at that lineup is....boy that team needs another starting outfielder
  22. So there's an article in the Tribune about it and WGN talked about it today....
  23. Dan Bernstein ‏@dan_bernstein 1m1 minute ago For all those asking, I have no reason to think @AdamSpankyEaton meant any genuine ill will at any point tonight. Be cool.
  24. I'm sure the Score will try to make it into a big deal, as you have Rongey and Julie DiCaro commenting on it already.
