  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 06:27 PM) I could see the Sox going with a 6 man rotation early on to keep Sale/Q/Rodon fresh for a potential postseason run. On a team where the top 3 are likely significantly better than the bottom 3, that would be a recipe for a terrible start.
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) I think this is the team they're going to ST with. They're going to give Avi some time and see how he looks. I just get that sense. I mean for months all we've heard is they're going for an outfielder and have whiffed on everything. They better find someone else on offense, as they currently have no platoon partner for LaRoche.
  3. It's probably way, way too late to make the decision to go over the 2016 international budget
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Yeah but a lot of deals people thrown out are around: reliever for Desmond Jennings. I wouldn't call Desmond Jennings a high impact bat. then neither is Fowler or Austin Jackson
  5. I've seen some reports lately that Tampa is going to start Jennings in LF this year, so that could be another option off the board.
  6. Big Show podcast with Austin couldn't have been more enjoyable
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) Realistically, how should the Bulls be able to beat out the rest of the NBA for Durant? I don't see it. Getting Ollie to be their coach might be only way to give them even a long shot chance
  8. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) I would agree that as it stands now, they are more inclined to deal for a bat than sign one. Due to shortage of money? I really think a Petricka and prospect for Jennings trade makes sense
  9. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 03:16 AM) Talks are fluid. As some have stated, they have a range they will stay within for free agents. As of tonight that's not a match for either camp. It's really that simple. Any of these trade suggestions realistic? Think they get another bat before season starts?
  10. One less team in the Jennings market
  11. Brewers and Reds will have a hell of a competition this year.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 11:19 PM) Bob Nnightengale on MLB Network just said that the White Sox are out of cash. I find this hard to believe. If Sox told him this, then it's not posturing either. You don't say you are out of money if you are negotiating
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 12:22 AM) Lol yah ok Bob. I'm going to believe him until Sox prove him wrong
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 12:19 AM) Bob Nnightengale on MLB Network just said that the White Sox are out of cash. I find this hard to believe. Oh yay....likely a signal no more major moves are coming. If true, what a sad and pathetic effort to sign free agents this offseason.
  15. Everything seems to indicate the Sox would rather trade for a player than sign them.
  16. QUOTE (SoxSteve @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 08:59 PM) Yes but the power fascination is not working. Getting the Thome's, Dunn's, Loroches, hasn't worked the last 10 years wouldn't you say judging by 1 playoff appearance. We hit a good amount of homers in 05 but the key was Scottie pods and Iguchi at top the order and getting the lead for the first 30 plus games of season. We only play 81 games at home and i think we have plent of power to win judging by what the last few WS winners have done. With our pitching defense is more important and if some here feel with our outfield defense the same as last year and Desmond and Lourie will be better than last year i hope your right because i don't see it personally. But that's what make this board fun!! Yeah, Thome was just awful on the Sox. I think many would be disappointed to hear that the 2005 White Sox hit a lot of home runs.
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 05:56 PM) Agreed, but I mean we're stuck with his salary. Which hurt Hahn's ability to sign free agents way more than Avi's role on the team did.
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 06:29 PM) basically the hype of getting another of'er for the mix is now moot. oh i can't stand this, the sox may go into the season without finishing this job with a question mark in Avi in the out field.... ok he may have fixed his stance, let him DH and perfect his hitting. People are outraged about Avi, but really it's the inability to unload LaRoche and his 13 million which is a bigger issue IMO.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) I'd be ok with a Garcia/LaRoche platoon at DH, but if Avi is the full time right fielder, I'll be enraged. Get ready to be enraged
  20. QUOTE (shysocks @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 06:00 PM) The talking up of Avi continues. He's gonna be the starting right fielder and I'm gonna lose my freaking mind. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 8m8 minutes ago Todd Steverson said Avisail Garcia was very receptive to trying a new stance when they worked out for 3 days in Miami. Promises diff. look. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 7m7 minutes ago Todd Steverson on Avisail Garcia: "“You can tell people, tell people, tell people. But until they get a hold of it in their own head." Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago Basically, #WhiteSox know there's much to be done & it's early. They're hoping Avisail Garcia gets comfy w/ new stance in spring. They better find someone to share at bats with LaRoche. No way can this roster be complete right now. If so, Hahn better be on the hot seat.
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:26 AM) I still think the Sox will add another player, I'm just not sure who it will be. I still hold onto some hope for Jackson, but that's just my preference at this point. Winning ball games would certainly help create that environment but unfortunately they have not been doing so for quite sometime. I hate to say it but the south side is probably not very attractive from a free agents POV. I do find these rumors interesting in another way. Early in the off season when Desmond's name was first mentioned, many fans ( myself included) were staunchly against the idea. Look at us now. Ha I remember being pissed when it came out Fowler was more likely than the big 3. Now it would seem like a big addition.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:12 AM) Good stuff but I will have enjoyed offseason more if they add another starting player. Kind of sick of the excuse of "they wanted to go back to their team". After a while, you need to create an environment where players want to come play for you. Just to add, I believe that environments exists for pitchers with the Sox.
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 04:07 AM) Meh, I take it all with a grain of salt until Desmond signs with a team. We read similar things about how Lawrie talks had stalled and then days later the trade was made and IIRC the same thing happened with Frazier. I'm not saying the Sox will or will not sign Desmond, just patiently waiting to see how it all plays out. For all we know, " that ship has sailed" , could mean Desmond signed with another team and it hasn't been announced yet. Point is, we don't know since there's nothing to confirm either way. I find the conflicting reports to very interesting though. It's the media, so lets not believe anything any of them have to say. If the Sox FO comes out and says something, THEN I'll believe it but until then its just some baseball rumors to talk about and its those rumors that help the off season fly by and get us to ST. Personally, I've enjoyed the hell out of this off season. Good stuff but I will have enjoyed offseason more if they add another starting player. Kind of sick of the excuse of "they wanted to go back to their team". After a while, you need to create an environment where players want to come play for you.
  24. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:05 AM) Stop being rational and understanding how the process of the media works. When I read the above posts, all I can think about is this: The Sox have been the ideal leveraging partner for agents this offseason for three reasons: - they don't comment on rumors - plethora of positions needing improvement - haven't spent much this offseason
  25. Nightengale is simply reporting what the Sox want the public to know. Not his fault the sox haven't gotten a big FA.
