  1. I'm a little more nervous about the team heading into the season as usual, but I think that's cause I have higher expectations for the team than most years. I definitely feel like this is a huge year for the franchise in terms of bringing back some of the fan base that they lost, and that a slow start/mediocre season would really hurt.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) I believe so, and it happened in Australia right? The shutout/homer must have been 2 years ago vs Giants. They did open up in Australia last year, but I think he was hurt.
  3. Avi with a homer, Micah with a very long double to center
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) Kershaw had an ERA over 6 last spring. Wasn't last year the opening day in which he homered and threw a shutout?
  5. walk and homer allowed by Robertson. His command has been brutal this spring.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) You know I think it was also fathom who at this point last year was saying the samething about Jose that he's saying about Jeff. It's not the ERA that worries me about Samardzija, it's the nearly .5 homers/inning he's allowing. I'm sure he'll be fine though, and hopefully he gets off to a hot start like he has in recent years.
  7. Does anyone know why Tim Anderson got hardly any at bats in ST, especially the last few weeks?
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) That is just silly. Literally every single minor league team in all of baseball is loaded with guys who are no where near as good as Scott Carroll. If they were better, they would be major leaguers, and wouldn't be in the minors. Yep, Carroll is fine for what he is. If your team is relying on him to start 30 games, it's probably in trouble. But as a long man/emergency starter, you could do a lot worse. He also seems like a great clubhouse guy.
  9. Jen Lada @JenLada · 7m 7 minutes ago Sale is done. Threw 90 pitches. Topped out fastball at 98. #WhiteSox
  10. Watching some of this outing by Samardzija, and his wind-up seems different than when he was on the Cubs. Seems to be turning his back a lot more before delivering.
  11. 1/3 innings, 5 runs for Samardzija. Not sure what's going on with him, but he has really sucked. Has there been any reports of his velocity this spring?
  12. Interesting to compare Hoffman's recovery to that of Aiken/Matuella. Personally, I don't want the Sox to take either. Frankie Piliere ‏@FPiliereD1 On his road back from TJ surgery, #BlueJays prospect Jeff Hoffman threw a 1-2-3 inning today in ST and worked at 95-98 mph. Wow
  13. I'd still rather have Viciedo getting at bats against LHP than LaRoche or Gillaspie
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) I disagree. I think ND played piss poor defense on him all game. He is limited offensively and athletically. I think he's a very good player, but not someone I'd take with the first pick. He was very bad defensively in the game, as he seemed slow off his feet. I do have some hope for his offensive game to expand, as he's a phenomenal free throw shooter for his size/age (as is Myles Turner). D. Russell has the best chance to be a game changer out of this draft class.
  15. Noesi giving up the long ball to minor leaguers
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) 73 last year. If they don't win at least 10 more, the season really sucked. You never know with bullpens, but if it's a good bullpen and the team stays healthy, it's a playoff team. I think the division is going to be very tough with some incredible pitching by the top 4 teams. I worry about the lack of power from the Sox, and I don't think the defense is going to be very good. If the Sox can't win 81 games, then Ventura needs to be canned.
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) This team has given up a lot of outs on the bases this spring. Eaton just got picked off 2nd. Good thing it's been spring training, as balta would be going nuts with all the errors and base running mistakes
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 05:01 PM) Duke has no chance. Kentucky managed to limit a much better 3 point shooting team in ND. Wisconsin has a real shot. I've thought since the tournament started that ND and Wisconsin were the only teams with a realistic shot at taking down Kentucky. Wisconsin now has the advantage of game film from ND's almost-successful attempt. But with Duke, if Kentucky decides to double team Okafor, it could create room for the guards. ND doesn't run their offense through Auguste like Duke does with Okafor, which created a lot of layups for Auguste but no kick outs to the perimeter. With that said, I don't think Duke would beat Kentucky, as their interior defense is abysmal.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) Well, that's interesting. Who are we trading Samardzija to? No one, they'll hold on to him and get the draft pick
  20. Great show tonight. Loved the fact I had no idea what to expect in the last match.
