9/9 vs Oakland A's
Anyone know the biggest decline in power before/after ASB in MLB history?

It's amazing how Semien is unable to draw a walk at this level, as opposed to his success in walking in AAA. Also, Sanchez might want to swing the bat tonight.

This is one of the worst defensive efforts I've ever seen. 4 errors, as well as a few other bad plays.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 01:31 AM) Have a day Marcus... There's a decent chance Semien is traded this offseason, IMO.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 02:07 AM) Semien come on. I still believe he should only be playing 2nd base.

QUOTE (1dog @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 01:49 AM) Someone remind me why Viciedo is playing. He is not under contract for next year and will not be offered one, right? I can't understand why Sierra isn't getting more ABs. It is surprising they're not giving Sierra a chance to prove his worth for next year. Either they have no intention of bringing him back, or he's still injured.

2014 MLB catch-all thread
http://espn.go.com/blog/jayson-stark/post/...aroldis-chapman My favorite stat in this is the 20 swings, with 19 of them being misses off of Chapman's change-up

If I had to guess based on his swing, it appears Abreu has a bad back.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 01:37 AM) He is hurt and has been hurt for weeks. What's the injury?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 01:36 AM) Why? He has had two breaks already during the season. Get him his ABs while you can. He's getting tons of at bats. He doesn't need to be playing every game, especially with how hard he plays.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 01:29 AM) Eaton down from .311 to .300 They need to give him some days off down the stretch.

Abreu looked hurt at the plate. His swing seemed incredibly slow in that AB.

Crede did something similar to that his rookie year vs Toronto

Flowers has gone out and earned the starting spot for next year. I have never been his biggest fan, but it's hard to argue against him when compared to starting catchers around the league.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 03:42 AM) Guerra on the team next year? Not sure. Petricka, Putnam and Webb seem likely. You have to think a LHP is brought in.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 04:39 AM) Avi's played in what, 25 games this year? Don't give up yet. I don't think anyone is giving up on him. He definitely gets a pass this year. It's imperative that he shows improvement next year though, as he needs to get more out of his ability.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 04:37 AM) Someone teach me to like Avisail Garcia. I really want to. Wouldn't shock me if Montas is the best player from that trade

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 03:55 AM) Yeah, he's just a cocktease His whole swing needs to be fixed, but I doubt that happens. He has too much power to have the approach of a slap hitter.

QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 03:54 AM) Sox 9-25 since August 1st Not shocking. The call ups are gonna take time to adjust. Then, you have Abreu and Eaton slowing down a bit. Viciedo has been the biggest power source during that time.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 02:49 AM) Glad you're coming around, but it seems like another project they'll be too stubborn to cut their losses on. He obviously has the tools and youth is on his side, but so far he seems like a 5 tool player that isn't close to utilizing any of those tools. At the plate, he's losing his balance on off speed pitches. On fastballs inside, he isn't close to getting his hands in. He did the same last year, and it's why he's a ground out machine to the left side.
